  1. I gotta say that outside of his complete miss to Williams and the strip sack, Fajardo played better than I expected him to. His wide-side out to Williams was a great throw, one I didn't think he could make, and he had some nice point guard passes under duress and he got up and kept going after taking some nasty shots. Our first sack seemed to hurt him pretty bad but he shook it off.
  2. block of the game: Adams sealing the corner on Harris' 20-yard run. Completely erased his damn man from the play.
  3. from the Ed Tait recap: Holding the ball for eleven minutes and five seconds while coming from behind in the 4Q. Awesome.
  4. Did they expand Tim Horton's for the Grey Cup? Or is it still 24K?
  5. My hit of the game was Collaros knocking Bouka out of bounds on the Wolitarski fumble. After running about 80 yards downfield (and from the far hashmark to the sideline!) Zach beat two blockers and saved a TD (for a minute or so anyway). Hell of an effort. Never say die. Love to see that kind of Lobendahn play from a QB.
  6. Blue offense: complete some passes downfield early. I think this is the entire key to the Blue offense, that quick-strike ability. Every one of our receivers caught deep passes this season, even field-side exile Wolitarski. Force the green D to cover the entire field, force them to take men out of the box, leave them shorthanded against our ground assault. Blue D...play good contain like you would against any mobile QB, don't let Fajardo run around, punish him if he does. You want a template for this, look at what the Riders did to Streveler in last year's final, he was a beast in the cup and in the semifinal, but the Riders did a great job against him ... though I bet that Faj has a way deeper playbook than Streveler had so maybe that's not a good example. question for football people: would it be a good call to dedicate Bighill to spy Fajardo? We do so many things with Bighill in coverage that it feels like we're giving away a lot to shackle him to the QB like that. Could the spy duties be handled by any other linebacker or even Alexander, who moves around a bunch? Or is our DL strong enough and disciplined enough to corral the slippery green QB without any special arrangements?
  7. Saskatchewan's entire thing for several seasons now is that they win games they oughtn't with talent that oughtn't win games. I mean, ****, they are 24-8 with Fajardo starting. A .750 win percentage is up in Bo Levi territory. Given the recent history between the two sides I feel good about our chances but the Riders are a team that defies all reason, a vortex of green madness and insanity with demonically good luck, they seem to get a lot of breaks...makes me just a bit nervous.
  8. total nerd thing I noticed ... TSN shooting onfield shots with real narrow depth of focus, really popping the foreground player.
  9. I'm an Adams fan, he's been good for a long time for us, but he's got to got to make that catch. Hate seeing a veteran crap up a raw teammate's first shot like that.
  10. Not me. This game is all about getting 12 some live fire and seeing what he's made of. If we need a dagger drive or a comeback drive in the 4Q I want to see McGuire in there, figure out if he can deliver the goods when the chips are down. Saturday forecast in mtl is cloudy and 10C with no rain .... pretty clean conditions for November ... so SMc looks to have some nice weather to work in.
  11. On rewatch: crunch of the game was Stanback absolutely trucking Alexander in the second half. I know it was for the bad guys, but it was some smash mouth business that made me go wow.
  12. how do you gameplan if you're the Als? last week your ace RB hit the century mark and you got some decent heat on the blue qb, which no other team has really done. And you still lost. What do you do differently? I guess with McGuire starting, you bring heat, lots of it. Test Yoshi to see how he's recovered after the injury. Bring delayed blitzers against Augustine sets, see how good he is at picking up the extra rusher. Move the safety around, see if you can bait big 12 into bad throws.
  13. I agree that early byes are dumb, but how do you schedule games for nine teams in a single week without making one team play twice? I think one team has to have a bye every week so long as we have an odd number of teams in the league.
  14. if I were the commish I'd hire Mike O'Shea to run football ops and devote myself fully to rejuvenating the game in Toronto (without screwing over the rest of the league, of course) or getting the Argos into a market that will support them. I don't know if that's a problem that can be solved. Certainly I have no fast ideas how to do it. But I really worry the CFL is on the brink of oblivion and TO will be the first domino to fall.
  15. in general I will root for anyone the Bombers put out there. one of the rare exceptions, the one guy I wanted cut immediately after I watched him play, was Dominic Picard, the center who couldn't shotgun snap. How much better could Willy have played if he didn't have to spend that half a second locating Picard's slow-motion snaps and then dodging Picard as the enemy DTs rollerskated him into the pocket... I think Willy was the real deal until the Bombers' terrible OL got him killed. When he started he was good enough to make Aaron Kelly into a legit deep threat. When he was done he was hesitating and nervous, he looked slow. A real shame that he didn't get the team he needed to play to his potential.
  16. O'Shea wore 59 during his first stint in Hamilton.
  17. Big SJ Green fan here. Way back in the deep time, I wore 59 on my jerseys because of Mike O'Shea. You can imagine how jazzed i was when he became a bomber.
  18. Blue 1-0 this week-- inspiring do or die to go 5-7-5!
  19. I goofed up the name. It's actually "the Dark Side." We regret the error.
  20. ugh. two boring games and two laughers. even tho the good guys won, not a great weekend for the league. I pity TSN's panel for having to make chicken salad out of this week's schedule..
  21. what is the rationale for the roster rule change allowing only two QBs on the game roster? whoever had that brain wave, they're the villains here too. happens a few times every season that a team has to go three deep on QBs.
  22. Indecisive QB + leaky OL = fajardo tantrum got a lot of respect for Bo, he owned us for a lot of years, but no way on Earth is he in the Flutie tier, or the Garcia tier. Maybe Dickenson.
  23. okay, this week has been great to be a bomber fan but terrible for a cfl fan with three utterly non-competitive games so far. cmon stamps and riders, entertain us. having said that, I predict Duke Williams is going to play like poop for the greenies. had a terrible training camp in the NFL and has a QB who has trouble with the deep shots ... overhyped signing.
  24. Week 12 Lions @ Blue So-so kicking game? Blue's elegant solution: Score many touchdowns.
