  1. thanks, Speedflex, all the best to your family too.
  2. I hear you, man. When I was newlywed I was working as a novelist, so I was at home alone all day every day with just my stupid book in my head for company and yeah, that got old pretty fast.
  3. protip: it looks less racist when you don't say "they" and "us" because who, really, is "us? when in doubt, follow the walrus rule: I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
  4. things are interesting here. for the past week my wife has something that might be CV19. her slow-onset fever is right but her cough is wrong. so we are treating her like a CV19 infectee, our house is in quarantine, and furthermore she is isolating herself from me. Since we have a single-bathroom house, that's complicated. lots of wiping of surfaces going on here. on top of that, I've got some kind of non CV19 sinus thing going on with turbo fatigue that's got me sleeping about 75% of the time. seem to have shook that over the weekend and planning on regular working from home tomorrow. My wife's isolation protocol ends tomorrow (1 week after first symptoms, or 3 days after symptoms end, whichever comes first). I'm going to cook something nice and we'll have a Better Call Saul date or we'll play the untitled goose game together. There are rumors flying around town (Seattle) that the state will be under formal cop-enforced lockdown soon. Other states have done this already. all the best from out here. go bombers (though I wonder if there will be a CFL season at all in 2021)
  5. It's a distraction, a troll to energize his people. People will get upset that Trump is saying things the wrong way and that's something that will give his base massive grievance boners, as we've seen here.
  6. Here, have a go in the Total Perspective Vortex. This is quite a video. The Age of Starlight ends with twenty minutes still to go.
  7. haven't played it yet -- a friend gifted me Disco Elysium last week while Fallen Order was downloading and I've been digging that game. DE is super cool, it's like a David Lynch take on a detective RPG. Might not be to everyone's taste though, there's a ton of text and weirdness to process. Fallen Order is next though!
  8. Stephen Miller all mad because no one makes a ventilator that will only work for native born Americans....
  9. a facebook share from an elderly friend let me to wander thru the Krazy Konspiracy Kanuck facebook group (not using their real name because **** them) and it's all alternating freakouts about gangs of roving transgendered lesbian cov19+ immigrants stealing your **** while jihadists disguised as UN blue helmets parachute into Lethbridge and Prince George. And also Trudeau is secretly altering paper currency to serve as a coronavirus propagator. Lotta crazy out there.
  10. Omar and Brother Mouzone bringing biowarfare to the game
  11. yeah, there is a very lively discussion about the U.S. federal government's corona response and responsibilities in the U.S. Politics thread if folks want to check that out.
  12. https://buynothingproject.org/find-a-group/ The Buy Nothing project is a thing I'm familiar with here in Seattle, my neighborhood has a long-running successful one. It's neighbors sharing stuff with neighbors. Just gave away a bunch of old D&D manuals and Xbox games to some folks who are shut in here and needing some fun. I see there are listings for Winnipeg, but I have no idea about how well organized or good those groups are.
  13. what makes you believe that he does?
  14. **** man, that sucks. All the best, dunno what else to say.
  15. What do you do, TUP?
  16. yeah, and it's one of those things that's kinda like Y2K, for the oldsters out there ... tons of people-hours and money were spent to make the new millennium a non-event from an IT standpoint, and so when it went pretty smoothly, everyone was like "why did we make such a fuss about that? Typical overreaction."
  17. I dunno. The Dems are beholden to a lot of business money -- I don't know if it's less or more than the GOP but don't kid yourself, there is a corporatist wing of the Democratic Party that really really doesn't like rocking the boat. (and yeah, this is a "they're all the same" argument. I've said before that in certain ways they are all the same. but In a lot of significant ways some are way different.)
  18. NYT is reporting that the paid sick leave in the bipartisan coronavirus response bill passed by Congress exempts business with more than 500 workers, which exempts a huge portion of the American work force. ******* dems. All the leverage in the world and they won't pry on it. For Christ's sake, Pelosi.
  19. ****, can you even imagine a pro QB or goalie telling people that a loss or a problem on the team isn't his responsibility? They'd be cut instantly.
  20. thanks! My family is pretty well set up to ride this thing out -- we have no kids, tons of friends, and jobs we can work from home -- but like JCon says, school closures are really jacking folks' lives up here. Emergency childcare + social distancing all at once, that's a nasty combination. And we've got a lot of small businesses here that are running month-to-month and they're really going to get smacked by this. My restaurant friends are organizing fundraisers and gift card drives so that they can keep some money flowing in to pay the bills.
  21. Then, as young healthy students weather the disease without too much problem the story will flip to "see, it was NBD, all those snowflake libtards with their fake evolutionary science were just reading the script that Pyongyang emailed." thoughts and prayers.
  22. man can you imagine someone like Winston Churchill saying "I don't take responsibility" after the fall of France or the sack of Singapore and Hong Kong?
  23. man that 79 is interesting ... a lot of game studios will have clauses where bonuses or penalties kick in on a metacritic breakpoint of 80, so when I see a 79 I wonder if metacritic is jacking someone around.
  24. ok, tacklewasher has sold me. Jedi Fallen Order is downloading now. (wow, it's fifty gigabytes. what an age we live in)
