  1. I thought last season was pretty awesome.
  2. also x 3 wonder if consistently passing outside is going to widen the defence and the gaps for Harris to hit...
  3. hmm, wonder if this'll run like the old Baltimore Football Club / CFLers / CFL Colts / Stallions -- new team in weird league makes a splash in a city that the NFL jerked around. (man, the US expansion was so weird and so so CFL. even the successful team had more names than years in existence)
  4. would love to see this compared with other QBs and offences. It seems so weird for a CFL offence to throw nothing deeper than 15 yards in the middle of the field. wonder if this is just data illustrating the constant gripe that the 2019 bombers had no midrange passing attack, everything was either a dump play or a bomb. also wonder if this is a turnover minimization strategy, if you never throw into the middle of the defence then there are fewer defenders around to pick the ball off. Look where the two picks happened; in a crowded area of the field.
  5. Eugene Lewis was the guy I thought of immediately when I saw this thread but he wasn't a free agent and he just signed an extension. https://www.cfl.ca/2020/01/31/report-als-sign-eugene-lewis-one-year-extension/ Think Lewis is gonna be a gooder for a few years to come -- he really helped out VAJr last season.
  6. Hope the BB do something nice and public to give him his ring -- give the crowd a chance to cheer that. Damn, remember when PIerce came back as a Lion and got cheered when he drove them for a TD late in the game?
  7. The GOP Senate caucus can subpoena anyone it likes with a simple majority vote. They don't need Democratic permission to do so, and they don't have to let the Dems have any witnesses in return. The GOP is in complete control of this process and McConnell himself said the Senate was aligned 100% with the White House. Sooooo .... if a Biden's testimony will exonerate Trump, then why doesn't the GOP get a Biden under oath, vote to acquit, and move on?
  8. Seattle Dragons announced their opening roster today. Familiar names making the cut: Nick Temple, John Santiago.
  9. The reason AOC is getting such fierce pushback as a wacko kook lefty uppity marxist-leninist is because these are some damn big money targets. There is just so much money metastasized into all of the current bad American solutions to these problems -- the ownership class is profiting on the flipside of every one of these bullet points and they can see looming threats on the horizon.
  10. hey hey now everyone knows that Bolton is a war pig, one of the shitgoblins who masterminded the Bush Iraq War II and Zontar has been real consistent about not being a big fan of the war pig branch of the GOP. And when lefties say "hey let's hear what Bolton has to say under oath" that doesn't mean they're all big stans for him now. I would love to see Bolton's reputation completely ******* destroyed as part of this process, he's a dangerous man. The thing about Trump that's underplayed is how he campaigned against the Iraq War and in foreign wars in general and in this I was actually really strongly aligned with Trump ... and with Zontar, I think. There was a locked and loaded plan to disproportionally retaliate on Iran for the refinery attack, and Trump backed away from it at the last moment and I think that was actually a good moment for the country. The bar to generally dispatch the US military with live rounds and fire orders needs to be super high. Now that dude is playing drone footsie with Iran, who knows though. THIS ISN'T A CRIMINAL TRIAL. The Senate "trial" is better understood as a firing process. One doesn't have to commit a crime to be impeached -- there's lots of impeachable conduct that is not against the law. For example, if the President sold New Orleans back to the French or announced they were moving the White House to Riyahd ... there is no law on the books against those things ... but Congress would probably step up to weigh in on the President's continued employment. And even if your premise were true and the trial were a criminal one, with the defendant protected by all the conventions and regulations of criminal law -- how do you think that mob bosses get prosecuted? Mob bosses never cut direct orders when criming. And yet there are mob bosses in jail. RICO prosecutions are a thing, and are constitutional per a bunch of Supreme Court rulings. Trump's people had a clear understanding of their working orders even without a smoking gun order. That's how a criminal syndicate works.
  11. I don't know of anything specific between Lapo and Davis. but Davis was the explicit QB2 all through 2017, had been with the team for two full seasons and was highly touted as the first Bomber backup QB in years who wouldn't be a free space on the bingo card, and maybe could be something greater. Nichols gets hurt in Game 17, it's Davis' turn to shine and he plays out the game, about a half and change. It doesn't go super well, we lose but Davis doesn't obviously play himself off the roster like a Boltus or a Mike Quinn. Then for the critical playoff clinching week 18 game, suddenly it's the Fever starting, and Davis is cut before free agency. Anyway, we decided somewhere between halftime of week 17 and the start of week 18 to move on from the guy ... after two years of grooming but less than thirty minutes of play running the real offense. Given how he was touted that was weird. Many worse bomber QBs have gotten way longer leashes. So now that Lapo is calling a lot of the shots I'm surprised that Davis is still a Redblack.
  12. Is Dom Davis a free agent? Surprised he wasn't cut. Can't think that Lapo is a Davis fan after the way he shitcanned him in 2017 (and also of course after a 5-TD 14-pick season by Davis in 2019)
  13. The two-party system is so frustrating, where the Dems have a monopoly on everything left of "kill them all and **** their corpses" it's hard for progressives to get traction. Lots of people blame the Greens and Ralph Nader for giving the White House to Bush, who was the worst American president in my lifetime, though that is splitting hairs between "let's put the brown kids in cages, suborn the federal government to a weird incestuous kleptocrat family, and give the nuclear football to a senile mean uncle with impulse control problems" and "let's carpet bomb the brown kids from high altitude." I can see both sides of blaming Nader. I remember during the Bush reign lots of people were like "worst president ever" and people who remembered Nixon said "no, Nixon was worse." I kinda feel that way about Bush.
  14. You're right, the Dems could have had universal health care -- except Obama was in his kubaya bipartisan make-nice-with-the-GOP phase, Pelosi wouldn't hear of it, Lieberman was the Dems' 60th vote in the senate and refused to consider it, and Harry Reid loved the filllibuster more than he loved progress. That old Dem guard really doesn't like the center-left wing of the party. And yeah, Joe Biden needs to defend his vote for the Iraq War. Clinton lost the Dem primary in 2008 because of her vote for it and I was glad to see that. Wouldn't mind seeing that dynamic repeat itself. I hope Bernie and Warren climb up Biden's ass about it.
  15. yeah, and the "far left" in American politics is somewhere around the center everywhere else in the world. Government-sponsored health care and tuition are not controversial things to offer for most of the developed nations in the world.
  16. wait wait you're telling me a pro athlete or coach talked to the media in empty cliches? And on a Mike O'Shea team no less? Inconceivable! Dude had a radio show in 2010ish when he was the starter and it was clear then that he was never gonna be a Jeremy Roenick quote machine but I recall he did a real fine job handling the call-in yahoos, especially when the team wasn't playing well. And I think that after a career of high-level play as a starting QB and a promising start in coaching, it's safe to say that he's figured out how to talk to football people.
  17. love that we retained Costello, our OL got lots better as the year went on and was ******* vicious in the Grey Cup, we give Walters props for that regularly but I bet Costello had no small impact there.
  18. Question: how many democrats have left the party or resigned their elected posts because of sex crimes or lurid allegations in the 2010s? I bet you can't answer this.
  19. I am still waiting to learn the details of the million fraudulent votes in the 2016 US federal election. Prove that claim, withdraw it, or confirm my judgement that you're just a noisy crank who regurgitates whatever the Macedonian trolls are writing this week.
  20. I'm still waiting to learn where all those millions of illegal voters voted in 2016
  21. I play drums today because when I was eleven, I heard Subdivisions and I thought "hey those drums are all weird, they're not predictable like in other songs." rest in beats, Neil. **** cancer.
  22. Spiderverse was indeed super great. Just saw Knives Out. It was pretty good, bordering on great. Definitely worth seeing. I know a lot of people here don't like Rian Johnson but that guy can make a film.
  23. was intrigued by the Dark Order at first but Lucha Underground did stories like that like a million times better. Let me know when the leader of the Dark Order kills the house band, makes a throne of their skulls, and presides over the ring like Thulsa Doom while Cody cowers in an undisclosed location. ****, I miss Lucha Underground.
  24. oh another reason I don't use chat is that sometimes the streams I watch can be 30 seconds to a minute behind TSN or live, so the chat is kind of spoilery.
