  1. Bell would be doing Johnston a huge favour by signing any deal before even a snap of Stewball has been played. They likely want to see what the game looks like and if it's digestible, if people care and if people still watch.
  2. Because they have to matchup athletically with guys they have to block in pro football. If they can't get their hands on the guys they need to block, they can't really play at this level. There's a major disparity in general in this league on talent level of OL vs talent level of DL. You think too most U Sports teams or even NCAA teams have 1 or maybe 2 OL who could be pro prospects and where do the best guys usually play? Depending on scheme it's going to be tackle or guard spot. Your best athlete on OL isn't going to be at C unless you have major problems with reliability.
  3. Honestly having Streveler here on IR and basically interning as a coach would be a pretty smart move. Kind of thing an organization with cash to leverage should be doing.
  4. This would basically be the neg list but with a public shaming of the league added on. Brilliant marketing. So they could pull it all into one day, teams draft guys, don't want them, cut them and could they add other guys to their protected list? Would some guys have to go through a draft and others you can just sign whenever, in August or October?
  5. An American Draft would just be another step toward bush league irrelevance for the CFL. Like a point and laugh exercise.
  6. You don't think they can win with Holm and Nichols at HB?
  7. Average league salary is pushing $130,000 with current cap number and the rookies still make under $90,000....significantly less for American rookies. These numbers aren't outlandish. Teams are ready to pay $250,000+ for decent Canadian OL and starters now. The "highest paid" whatever headlines today are kind of laughable considering 45% of the league are free agents. That's going to change by February.
  8. One of the reasons this team is declining is because they've expected leadership from someone like Jefferson. He's among the most likely to quit on plays or take stupid penalties. If that's who we're looking at to lead we're ****** from Jump Street. You can live with a guy like this who makes game changing plays out of a rotational role, when he's been impactful. But you can't expect him to be the voice and the example.
  9. Woods is awful. Terrible is pass coverage and not a guy that makes any plays at the line either. He just played himself off the field on the worst D in the league the past three seasons. Yeah, let's sign him.
  10. Where did Collaros and Jefferson come from?
  11. He's just been around long enough to have had years at the top and years around the bottom. Ultimately your play caller is affecting a small chunk of your production. It's up to the talent you have and whether your OL can block anyone especially in pass pro. He'll look like a ******* genius if they have the best OL in the league. Let's hope Zach can make his pee tests this year.
  12. I'm not sure why they'd have to. They didn't spend the increase announced coming up to the season and there's another increase for 2026. I know everyone is horny about Collaros price tag but it's not outrageous. Oliviera got offered the exact same contract the last time he was a free agent by BC when the cap was almost 20% lower. He's won how many league awards since he signed the last one? Remember when the problem 20 weeks ago was that the Bombers didn't spend enough? I'll miss his one TFL every 8 games and the 4 times a game where he gets turned horizontal in his gap where I get to see the other teams RB bust of a 20+ yard run.
  13. They can save a lot of money on DL and probably not miss a beat. How many times did you hear the name Jefferson other than to say "Jefferson is still on the team?"
  14. Guys with no accrued time in NFL (no time on active roster) get about $15,000 USD for a full camp plus per diems which vary for game days and controlled scrimmage. They basically have no cost too because the club provides housing and meals. Guys with accrued time get about double that. Elgersma would be in the former category at this point. That's about 6 CFL game cheques on a rookie deal.
  15. There's a 0% chance Elgersma signs here before the end of the next NFL season. And at that it would be if he's getting no calls and looks in January-February 2027. 4 weeks on a NFL PR and he makes more than he would on CFL deal. If he's on a roster for OTA's and training camp he'll basically make a full year of CFL salary on a rookie deal in per diem and pay. If he signs with us he won't be playing any time soon. He won't really be in a spot to succeed. They won't be building an offense around him. There's no incentive at this point for him to sign here, or the CFL generally.
  16. BLM was horrendous in the 2nd half of last season. If anyone else in that division has a healthy QB the majority of the season Hamilton is probably 3rd or 4th place.
  17. Oliviera is highly marketable which is a big part of the $$$ coming at him from everywhere. Ask your wife.
  18. I think it would be silly to bring back Bryant and Neufeld. They've been done for 3 years. They've been given multiple chances to run it back, and they get worse every season.
  19. I don't worry much about D for Canadians. It's pretty easy to find guys that can fill roles to have 2-3 on the field. But holy **** is our offense depleted in general and especially for Canadians.
  20. Willie is kind of a classic issue at the rush end position. His ceiling is so disruptive, but his every down play is terrible. The best he's ever been is a rotational guy which isn't a slight, it's just a fact of the skills and down to down compete level he has. If you can have him play 6/10 snaps on D, you'd be happy. And that's even in his prime. I don't really see a reason to bring him back at anywhere near his current salary. If he'd sign for like $115,000 and a ton of bonuses I'd consider it.
  21. Peterson can hit a gap but haven't seen him survive and manage contact. Also near zero involvement in pass game. Would need a tremendous OL for him to be a serviceable regular option and he'd need to get a lot better too.
  22. Bourgoin, Costanza, Jarryd Baines, Marcus Howell Guys with a lot of CFL experience but basically zero experience as play callers at any level.
  23. The guy has pretty clearly been blacklisted by the NFL and FBS/FCS levels of NCAA. He goes from 15 years in the NFL to one year in the circus in Montreal with Dan Hawkins to D3 to a year in a spring league to the CFL again with a pretty dysfunctional organization (not that I think O'Shea etc. would see that since it's a lot of his buddies involved). He's up here making $90,000 Canadian. Think you'd have to do some pretty significant due diligence on why that is before you give him a leadership role.
  24. Mike Miller = bye bye Brady. Has a resume almost as great as Mike Kelly's.
