  1. I don’t find Barriere to be a toolsy QB from watching a lot of his NCAA career to now. He’s nowhere near the raw talent level of VAJ. He’s kind of slightly above average across the board nothing too special arm, mobility or run wise. Remember Chris Leak who was UF QB before Tebow? Was with Als for a couple years. That’s who he reminds me of. I like NDSU’s current QB a lot more and they run a more pro style pass scheme. New head coach is the guy who called plays for 3 solid pro QBs there too. Cam Miller is the guy. He’ll be CFLer.
  2. Well if who is on 6 game now stays on for full 6 games they have about 2/3 of a solid starter salary open.
  3. I thought Rivers had the least burst of any of the DE’s but he’s really good at getting hands off him. Just not sure he’s athletic enough to be an end up here. Maybe try him inside.
  4. Barriere was #2 and played some for Michigan in USFL. Spent 22 and 23 with Michigan and New Jersey in USFL. Came free when USFL folded.
  5. Neither guy is a true rookie. They've both spent the past 2 years playing pro.
  6. Resume is a pretty big meh to me. Wilson was successful in the SEC. Barriere went to a dominant program in FCS and didn't really come close to winning the championship. Barriere is actually 2 weeks older than Wilson (I've seen someone, maybe Hodge or another beat guy say Wilson is old for a CFL rookie).
  7. Would be silly to cut a better player because a guy was on the neg list for a long time. Hodge's evaluation of Streveler really speaks to his lack of basic knowledge on how the game is played. He said something like "Streveler will never be a guy who drops back and works through four reads." Nobody is working through more than 2 after the snap. After that it's a scramble. Everything is pre-snap. Most teams are cutting the field in half based on pre-snap reads. Just such an underhanded and ignorant attempt to **** on a guys ability as a passer.
  8. Yeah not really a fan of keeping so many guys at practice if you're goal is to eventually get ready to play real games in like 2 weeks. Either have some guys getting so few reps it's pointless or you're splitting reps so much you're prepping really no one to play. Need to be able to evaluate by now to get down to 3-4 guys in all the position battles.
  9. Hard to tell much from this game really. Some solid individual efforts but coaches will be looking at them in context of what the assignments were. That context is important. I loved the physicality of Gemmel out there. Kind of reminded me of Lobendahn. Heavy player you can tell guys playing against him wouldn’t have a fun time. Wilson looks like a CFL QB. Like both his comfort in pocket and on a rollout. Solid arm, mobility when he needs it. Barriere looks like a guy who played at a great school and fit the system.
  10. Ontaria Wilson has got a lot of reps with first team O. That’s a pretty good indicator of who is getting the longest looks for better or worse.
  11. Of note on Vann coming out of the SEC: Averaged 15.1 yards per punt return in 2022.
  12. From what O’Shea said about him during Rookie Camp it sounded like he was limited and it was a chronic lower-body issue. Not sure it’s something that will get better he’s just trying to squeeze out a couple more shots at making a team.
  13. Sorry but if you think nothing has changed in terms of preventing head injuries in contact sports you must have been in a coma for the past 30 years.
  14. True. Hard to get and keep a spot if you keep going to IL. Opens the door for other guys to win the job.
  15. I’d be in favour of dropping the starting requirements. Keep the roster breakdown the same. If you really want flip 2-3 American spots Canadian since QBs won’t be separated anymore. Every player in the lineup will get used. The fight is that salaries will drop. You won’t have even a pretty good player like Neufeld getting a premium for being Canadian. You’ll have more of a sway toward guys getting paid their actual value.
  16. Could see Bighill kind of being that extra coach on the 6 game type guy if he's not going to play. Save money on two caps at once.
  17. They should though. They are likely repped by a CFLPA approved agent. You'd think you would do a little digging on your career prospects, how the league works, the team they are going to etc.
  18. I mean the Americans coming in here as tailbacks realize that the incumbent is a Canadian who was just up for MOP? And we have a Canadian backup who has been here for more than half a decade? There's literally no roster spot for them. They are coming in to try to steal a practice roster spot or a shot with another team. I'm not even sure they'd really consider them for return duty unless they blew everyone's socks off because they'll want cover for another spot through that role, likely receiver.
  19. Yeah he will. We're not exactly bursting with Canadians. Lots of rookies.
  20. One person who is extremely conflicted in this current situation says he was fined but offers no context or substance with it (like "I was fined in 2012 for complaining about the schedule") and there's no record of the fine easily found online. Why are you so far up Barker's butt?
  21. Guess the point with Holm is to let things play out and see some guys play ball before they are crowned or discarded. Just ironic that you **** on some guys who have huge and productive tenure based on pedigree but want someone who we've barely seen play who came from the least competitive conference in U Sports anointed.
  22. I'm going to say no. He has it in very brief glimpses where he still makes some plays on the ball but he was more of a liability in a lot of games last year than I think we would get from an average player. I was surprised he made it to this camp. I thought he would have been one of the vets they moved on from.
  23. Jake Kelly? What about him makes you think he'd be a better starter in the secondary than Kramdi or Hallett? We jumped the shark lol. Should we cut Evan Holm still?
  24. There's no defending or deflecting from the Argo coverup either. It's pretty transparent what Barker's tactic is. The guy is involved personally.
