  1. I think they are all problematic. Football fans aren't taking a president who clearly has and wants no involvement in football operations as a sacrifice to lower the temperature on their anger for on-field performance. But Cui is being painted as some kind of opportunity for saviour they missed by some. Seems like he's just another person who took advantage of the power vacuum there and actually had no skills. Something significant happened there because they'd never pull the plug on something like this mid-season unless they absolutely had to.
  2. According to the media in Edmonton a good portion of the front office has resigned in the past year. People that had previously been significant parts of a model franchise. Reading between the lines there were questions brought up about financial management and team building on the business side under Cui's tenure. The board had to intervene several times as they said in that presser. That's quite unusual as there are pretty strong legal boundaries on a governance board as the community owned football teams in this country are set up as regarding their involvement in operations. The guy takes a "mutual" parting of ways which does not benefit him at all. You'd rather get fired unless there's a reason they can fire you with cause. Something is extremely fishy around Cui.
  3. Why do you think he has that kind of money? He worked for a MMA promotion in Asia.
  4. The job was running a professional football team. Over and over again people in that position of president who have no idea how a professional football team should operate fail. Add Cui to the list.
  5. Marketing Filipino fighters to Filipinos. A little bit different than managing human and financial resources of a professional football team. You guys have to pick up Dustin Neilson's podcast. Would not be surprised if scandal looming on the HR side.
  6. I'm not sure why people think he's so great at marketing. Look at the stadium the Bombers just played in. Felt like it was a game played during a lockdown. From Dusty Neilsons podcast in Edmonton sounds like the board and some alumni both on football ops/playing side had to constantly rein him in because he had some crazy ideas to try to attract attention (eg Glieberman) and trouble with financial management. Even when we were in Reinebold/Daley/Burke eras they could market players and drive interest in the team, get people out to games. Edmonton is a disaster all the way around and Cui was part of the issue. They can't continue to burn cash. At $4-$5 million losses per year they'll be out of cash in two years.
  7. To celebrate with their own fans. The Riders and Lions running into Edmonton's stands is absolute stupidity and just inviting trouble.
  8. Cui is a little too much Gliberman-style to get the job done IMO. Good move for Edmonton. They need to focus on the football side and have leadership with that ability.
  9. Because the coaches insist on it when they sign their contracts. They aren't part of a collectively bargained deal, they negotiate their own terms.
  10. On the Demski play at the time of that snapshot the ball is also moving. You can see both tackles already in their kickstep too.
  11. The ball was gone two steamboats. There's no justification for hitting someone in the head in this situation.
  12. No room on that train with all the Mason Fine's, Dustin Crum's, Taylor Powell's, Bo Levi Mitchell's oversized ego, Cody Fajardo's, Taylor Cornelius', Tre Ford's Also the most wind affected game we've played this season so far. Kind of notable when a guy comes out slinging. He skipped one long one to Lawler in the 2nd but otherwise you would have thought it was a calm day.
  13. un·nec·es·sar·y adjective not needed. Any contact with a player who isn't live, doesn't have the ball and isn't engaged in the play (eg lying on the turf). The head contact is just a cherry on top of the sundae.
  14. Sask DL in BC game had a form tackle of a QB upright WITH THE BALL and made contact with head on the way to the ground basically with same area of body Ealy hit Collaros with, upper arm/shoulder, and it was a flag. Challenged by Sask and upheld. There's no consistency at all.
  15. Bleh. They actually passed more after they were up 22-0 than before. Ford just doesn't have much ability to move the ball. They needed to try to grind down our D and stay on the field. They really need to base the offense around option run plays if they are going use Ford consistently. But then it's not like you can throw Doege out there if you need to with the option stuff fully installed. The issue with guys like Ford and why they end up being gadget players.
  16. Something to chew on... Mike Reilly when he was a FA and ended up in Edmonton had career stats of 53-77 694 yards 4 TD 2 INT 122 yards rushing 2 TD 101 QBR Dru Brown currently has 63-97 909 yards 10 TD 2 INT 91 yards rushing 5 TD 121 QBR
  17. Yeah depends what the leadership group is. But the demand for a guy with Brown's skill and experience incubating here will be high. IMO BC, Calgary, Edmonton, Sask, Hamilton, Ottawa, Montreal all would move on Brown. Yeah some of them have "starters" now, but they aren't anything more than average.
  18. Bombers win a third Grey Cup in 4 years and Collaros retires. Or we finally complete the 2019 loop and send Collaros back to Toronto to finish up his career at home (his current home) after this season. To be clear, not advocating for this, just laying out the potential scenarios for Brown to stay here. Think of what Edmonton gave Cornelius and think of what a team like that might pay a guy who has actually won a game in their stadium.
  19. Doesn’t have to be helmet to helmet. Can’t touch QB head at all and it’s the first part of Collaros Ealy contacted. Hodge has the rule broken down if you need.
  20. Just imagine that same situation involving Mahomes. What would the NFL do? Collaros is the premier player in this league at the moment and as a defender you’re allowed to drill him in the head when he’s already out of the play and roll a 300 lb body over him. The only part of the roughing the passer rule on the books that Ealy didn’t violate was initiating contact with his own helmet.
  21. There’s no corner I’ve ever seen play that I would trust to make that tackle in the wide-open field. That was a bust from pre-snap. Hall took the bait. Edmonton had run almost every play in the second half to that point with a stacked up group between the tackles hoping the Bombers would stack everyone inside or on the line to run that exact screen out wide.
  22. That it was unfortunate the Bombers hadn’t nationalized Bailey after Wolitarsky went out and he’d probably read about it this week on here.
  23. Dru Brown is the first quarterback to come in relief wearing the number 6 and throw a pass to a receiver with a mouth guard that looks like a pacifier who caught the ball one handed.
  24. Do you think us and BC would make a trade at this point in history?
  25. Last I saw from Jets beat writer is they expect him to clear waivers and end up back with the Jets on IR with the broken thumb.
