2024 Blue Bomber Training Camp
Blitzing in general is a bad strategy. Teams on O and QB's are prepared for it generally. Need to be able to get pressure with 4 which was a deficiency last season.

Blue Bombers - 2024 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
Mitchell didn't return a single punt in two preseason games and won the job. Scared as **** for miscues on special teams.

Not in Winnipeg. Yeah in other markets.

Bighill became very predictable and didn't disguise anything. He was either 12 yards off the ball to drop into 2 deep/Cover 2 or standing over the centre to blitz. Interested to see how things look without him.

I'm not sure that's true though. The core NHL revenue is getting $250-$500 out of every seat in the rink each night. And even more for the Jets with a smaller rink. They just thought they had such high demand that they could piss on their fans and they'd thank them for it.

2024 Blue Bomber Training Camp
I don't think it will be much different and that's a good thing. Going to use everyone on roster, lots of guys that fit multiple roles. Really well disguised. Important thing to learn from 2023 looking back at earlier teams is importance of that DL rotation...8 guys need to be running through there.

All I know of the Jonas bros.

I'm in a Day 1 group for the Jets and we had to wait 9 years to move our seats....our ticket rep told us multiple times we could give up our tickets and they'd gladly keep our deposit and find someone else to pay for them more than once. Basic communication with them was so disrespectful to the point of being unbelievable.

They'd have the interior guys plus extra LB. Lots of situations they ran 30 fronts last year, used LB's as rushers.

In contrast to O'Shea wishing for more penalties and turnovers.

Hopefully Mitchell can set his drop target to his jersey number.

Blue Bombers Cuts Discussion
For years though Bombers haven't played with guys in static positions, basically as long as Hall has been here. Basically the corners and HB's are locked in and everyone else is playing multiple spots. Wouldn't get too hung up on depth charts. I think we'll see Cole at all levels of the D in the same game. Guy like Bridges could be very similar between DB/S/LB spots.

For 28,000 of the people in the stands they know Collaros, Willie, Oliviera and maybe Schoen or Bighill.

Think Wilson will be on the field every down. Will see a rotation of other backers including Kramdi in different situations.

The "starter" or "backup" thing (again) is a total red herring. We're better off with more guys who can play, there's no doubt about that. Much prefer the approach to having roles for everyone rather than just have 12-15 guys who don't do anything but special teams...kind of the Taman/Mack era model.

Because one of his feet hasn't worked in 2 years.

Mitchell got a crazy amount of playing time too. There were 5-6 guys who basically didn't get on the field in that receiver competition. Kind of hilarious they kept those 96 players around to the bitter end.

The whole "starting Canadian" thing is kind of a red herring. All they do is say how many are on each side of the ball and that's the minimum they have to play each snap. Could play more and probably will on D on a given down. But could go 11 Americans 1 Canadian lots of snaps too.

Mitchell wasn't that bad LOL. Just had some pretty big errors that thought might have chopped him. Think he's got a lot of potential and obviously we don't get much from a month of practice which is about 90% of their evaluation.

They will only need 1 Canadian on the field at a given time on D. I wouldn't read too much into where guys are on "depth" chart. They'll probably have snaps with 1 Canadian out there and snaps with 3 or 4 depending on set for D. They can run sets with only Ford out there for instance and American LB/DL group.

I might have kept both of them over 3 import OL on the PR....but I guess they are covering 3 OL spots there....one interior guy (Vanterpool played a ton of guard in both games), one guy to develop as LT (Coleman) and one guy to continue competing at RT (Randolph). Not sure we needed to keep two import receivers either. More pressing roster need will be if we get a Canadian or two dinged on O. Hamilton ratio changed a lot with DL departures too. I'd much rather have him than the other Bennett sneak back onto the roster.

There's talk of him performing in that role. He has no experience with it and didn't hit the field in preseason. Guess we'll see what the plan is. In any event cutting Rosery feels like a bad move to me given the overall makeup of our roster and commitment to using 6-7-8 Canadians regularly on O. If we lose a Canadian OL to injury our roster will be in significant flux. Sounds like Eli might be down for awhile and there's some durability concerns there so Wallace is likely our 6th OL Day 1.

Certainly didn't look that way. He was taking carries as a primary back behind 3rd string OL and running hard. He's taken regular reps at 2 receivers spots throughout camp. MCI did squat and showed up late. If he's on the roster it's to cover kicks. Hopefully he knows what he's doing in that regard. The MCI hype is just hopeful at the moment.

And when I talk about Rosery I'm not saying they'd cut Augustine....just that Rosery appears to be a useful player and we need more of those especially Canadian ones. Chris-Ike didn't get on the field much for pre-season so really interested to see what happens in real games.
