  1. With McCrae he's kind of a jack of all trades, master of none. I'd like to see him used more as a tailback, he's a good compliment to Oliviera. A couple of the runs he had last night there was a lot of space up the middle if he hit vertical behind the trap block of Hardrick but he kind of followed Hardrick wide instead right into the defenders. I think he'll be a better player for us as a tailback especially if he gets to focus on it.
  2. He tracked it like he was trying to recover it as an onside guy. Probably saw the Hamilton game a couple weeks back but didn't quite get it.
  3. I have seen it. But that particular situation was a total CYA scenario when they didn’t blow it dead and should have. My main roster issue is Jeffcoat. The guy is clearly labouring and it’s August. We need him in November. We need the guys on the roster so he’s only playing half or 2/3 of the series. Lucky this one was a blowout so he could mostly sit out the second half. There’s the “go 1-0 this week” approach but situations like this are the limit of it. There are 3 teams in this league that are Grey Cup contenders and you need to have a team that can go 1-0 each week in November.
  4. The officiating is nuts. The replay official buzzes down to make sure they call a no end penalty on us first drive of the game. Where was he on Betts uncalled offside? Where was he on the Bighill play that was blatantly not a penalty? Where was he on the next play when BC receiver was clearly down at 40 with contact gets up and runs across 30? If they are going to auto review some plays (aside from scoring ones) they need to review all of them. Also O’Shea needs work on when to use the flag. On a 60 yard play to Lawler…use it. On a blatant illegal tackle by us…don’t use it.
  5. Kramdi was great last night. First game I’ve seen live where he seemed like he had two working legs, one of those guys you’re always waiting on the other shoe to drop injury-wise. They tried to isolate him in coverage early but he was like a wet blanket. Then when they got ahead they rolled a lot of two high safeties with him and Alexander for the most part. He also saved Jeffcoat’s bacon a bunch vs the run when Jeffcoat took aggressive angles and got out run. Darby is another American we could replace pretty easily. Didn’t see him out much on D and boneheaded play on teams where he acted like he was onside smacking ball out of bounds for a 15 yard penalty.
  6. Also…Dom Davis…why? You get a half of garbage time reps and they go to a 34 year old guy who can hardly even run a short yardage package. League needs to force teams to carry developmental QBs.
  7. Streveler posted a 0.0 QBR on 7 passes in preseason debut…not going to be the preseason MVP this season.
  8. Parker is minor. Having a guy like Jeffcoat out there with no real backup or opportunity to spell him is a problem over a 18 game season and potentially in a close game. I mean we already lived that in the Ottawa loss when our D was dead tired. McCrae and Jackson don’t bring much. I respect O’Shea’s approach in building a team and not a roster with someone like Jackson and what he brings, but I don’t think you can do that when you’re running a DL that is missing parts. 7 DL is standard in this era. Can argue Maruo and Cole do some rushing in different sets but there’s no way we shouldn’t have another end on the roster at the very least both for the current game and getting our best players Jeffcoat and Jefferson to the games when we really need to win. I’d like to see what Houston looks like returning punts.
  9. Last poke was winning the toss and taking the ball to start. They got way out in front of their skis and Collaros tightened them up.
  10. Most importantly in November it’s drier. If it’s windy, cloudy and 10-15 degrees at the end of May it’s absolutely miserable and no one wants to be outside.
  11. No matter what they do there are the same number of Canadians and Americans on the roster. The starting thing is not a huge deal. Wasting an American spot on a guy who is basically an extra OL when he's out there who can play some on special teams is pretty nuts. What happens if Jeffcoat goes down? That's been a pretty frequent scenario. They've also got two guys who haven't played in ages coming in to start on D and that could go either way. Get thin real fast, you need every roster spot to be used efficiently.
  12. Put the posts on a tryke and when a team crosses the 35 their kicker can run to the back of the endzone and drive the tryke out to the goal-line. We'll pilot this in Halifax's new CFL stadium.
  13. I mean if the other things bother you, than Jackson in must bother you...because that's the roster spot that would be used elsewhere.
  14. Anyone who wants to remove kicking from the sport of football should just stick to watching hockey.
  15. Our guys will be bent over at the waist in the end of the first half and end of 3rd quarter while they will be fresh all night. Over 30 with humidity too.
  16. Augustine should have utility as a blocking back. If he doesn’t I have no idea why we roster him with McCrae on and don’t put a better player on for D and special teams. Bennett isn’t really a player so we continue to go with 5 DL and Maruo really as the 3rd rush end.
  17. Suitor and Forde both come from the era where every team had a wideout and a slot on each side of the field with 2 backs in the backfield. The formation would change when they moved backs either straight behind the QB into I form or into Pro form or Strong/Weak I with the fullback motioning over. You'd almost never see a bunch (which is what everyone is running their 3 man routes and run stuff out of now) or a receiver motioning across a formation. TSN desperately needs new blood.
  18. Could easily fit Sankey in and really make use of the nationalized American with Bighill. Our group of LBs have consistently missed that solid B to B guy to read and scrape to the ball. Why Hall compensates with run blitzes or playing Gauthier at middle and Bighill at WIL where he’s more suited.
  19. When Jones had 20 coaches on the Riders they were barely a .500 team and never got close to a Grey Cup.
  20. Dude looks like the type that can be a 3 tec and weak-side end, kind of what Jeffcoat and Sayles do/did to some extent.
  21. To start training camp yeah. To play games and start training camp in April, nah. Nothing in amateur football outside starts until the week before May Long.
  22. Spring cold is way worse and harder on the body than fall cold.
  23. Best be ready to play on Thursday. BC is physical from the opening kickoff and even in this game through a 4th quarter vs an opponent clearly done. Bombers will need an effort that we haven’t seen yet this season.
  24. The Maritimes flirtation is some of the biggest nonsense going. Costs to do anything there are multiples more than any other market…building a stadium, travel etc. Nobody wants to own the team and the government there is so under resourced and devastated by a decade of austerity prior to this current government. They can’t front hundreds of millions if there’s no payoff. Teams in the four biggest markets and Edmonton are losing $5+ million a season. There is no value to the league forcing a team into that market and no value in continuing the neutral site games.
  25. Alternative is putting a guy on the field who hasn't taken a snap under center all night on a wet field at your own two yard line where a fumbled snap could be a loss. They do need to crackdown on the flying over the pile bullshit both for the headshots and that kind of play at the end of this one.
