  1. What could we trade to Edmonton for Jake Ceresna? Rights to Buck Pierce potential future as a head coach? Ceresna would be the perfect player to add to our DL, impactful in every spot. Jefferson, Jeffcoat, Walker, Ceresna plus the Canadians would be stacked. Like Casey Sayles but good. Should be the kind of guy they are scanning their scouting lists for to get up here ASAP.
  2. More chance for Bennett to look over the shoulder of the lineman carrying him downfield and yell to his teammates where the ball is headed.
  3. Depends if Damian Jackson is dressed that week or not.
  4. You can't complain on one hand about an old boys club and support taking all-star level players off the field for a guy who hasn't played well in 4 calendar years. I think it's more the opposite for Rose. Sure put him on the roster, we have the American spots, but work him in.
  5. Not really. I don't think he's better than Houston, Parker, Nichols, Holm. If he gets on all 5 of those guys will be on if healthy. Schoen didn't really seem to go into protocol but he was running laps up and down the sideline the rest of the game after that hit with his helmet on, briefly went to locker room. The way he dropped that ball was complete fencing response which indicates concussion.
  6. Hall has always had an inordinate love for run blitzes, but this year has been a new level. Bighill should be on the depth chart as a DT. As a OL coach, run blitz me all day, I don't care if you line up 8 guys across the line, the less space my fat guys have to cover to find a block the better. As zone run game takes over these D play callers are going to have to back off on the run blitzes because the aren't going to work unless you have backers that can catch a 4.4 tailback from across the formation and behind. I'm waiting for the week when they figure out Alexander needs to be the SAM. Kramdi moves like a 70 year old between whistles, I don't mind his play but I don't think he'll last very long. SAM- Alexander CB- Houston HB- Nichols S- Darby/Hallett HB- Holm CB- Parker (start him in the secondary he's not a punt returner) Parker I might put at the boundary with Nichols.
  7. ADS is adequate, would like a little more aggression to the field. So far he's made most of the tackles or at least turned guys in, but he's getting caught in space all the time 1 on 1 vs guys that have the ability to either make him miss, truck him or both. If he cuts down on the space the guy has receiving the ball there's a lot less opportunity for the 20-30-70 yard catch and run. Holm, Nichols and Houston are all potential all-stars
  8. 2019 Couture went down in Game 18. Speller came in at centre and also started half that season over Desjarlais. The most common OL we used in 19 was Bryant-Speller-Couture-Gray-Hardrick with Desjarlais as the 6th. Different team when they inserted Desjarlais. Neufeld came back at the end of September.
  9. Looking back the only game I have Eli starting was the last regular season game in 21, that 13-12 fuckfest in Calgary.
  10. He missed most of 19 which opened the door for Gray. You guys might forget that Cody Speller was the starting guard over Desjarlais for half that season. Eli was hardly on the roster.
  11. Couture didn't get hurt until last season when Eli wasn't here. Started all 14, West Final and Grey Cup in 2021. Speller started the 19 playoffs when Couture got hurt and Eli was the 6th OL for 19 playoffs and Grey Cup.
  12. Couture was the centre. Eli was 6th OL.
  13. No because you don't gain a roster spot. Functionally Cole/Maruo will be the same if they want to use Cole. What they could do is nationalize Alexander or Bighill which would give them huge flexibility to get Parker or Cole on the field more, especially if there is an injury to a Canadian or Maruo. They can't really do it for Jeffcoat or Jefferson this week because there's no depth there.
  14. They couldn't execute basic skills like tackling. They were not in the game. It wouldn't have mattered what was called.
  15. It all adds up to a loss. Giving up points are the biggest factors in losing always. Offense does play a part in that too. As an organization it's important to know that we don't have a "bail us out" D anymore. Our roster isn't structured that way and our team is no longer capable of playing that way. The O needs to take the reins.
  16. The Ottawa tying and winning drives were pretty solid proof. Our D has no depth at all. Think of all the games you've seen that core group of guys play. Have you ever seen them unable to even put forward effort for another down? Will depend on how they declare the roster. To me looks like they are declaring 5 Canadians on O and 2 on D. So as long as 5 Canadians are on the field for O McCrae can come out (on the depth chart 6 Canadians are listed as "starters").
  17. I don't see any change in their protections and scheme. I don't believe they feel there is a problem. Max protect has always been used a bunch in the offense with a running back and one of Bailey, Demski, Wolitarsky. Max protect isn't a problem, it's not a like a QB is reading 6 routes in a play. Guys getting beat 1 on 1 is a problem, even 3 on 5 quite often. I'd much rather them run their offense out of max protect every passing down than go with the stupid empty look, even empty with 6 OL on the line. Pass rushers are just teeing off on that. Collaros isn't going to run so they know what's coming. We barely run screens or jet motion too.
  18. Miller and Hansen both back on 6 game so unlucky to be back before Banjo Bowl.
  19. Last time against BC was at home too. I don't even care about Kramdi vs Darby. Darby has been awful this year. They've favoured Kramdi there going back to the end of last season when he's been healthy, which hasn't been often. He's only finished a couple games since they traded for Darby back. I know what my preference would be, and that would be to put Alexander down to SAM permanently and use Darby's cover skills at safety. They need the physicality in the box. The OL and DL are both playing terribly and that's where we're going to continue to struggle without changes. DL has struggled for years without 7-8 dressed. We have 6 dressed and it's hard to even count Bennett as anything. Edmonton has a decent DL with some disruptive guys in Ceresna and Ealy. They will be isolating Neufeld like everyone else has since BC. Did he magically increase his fitness and willingness to play in the one practice this week? There's nowhere to hide now, into the second third of the schedule.
  20. The only change made to the defense that collapsed in Ottawa is Kramdi in for Darby. We're playing with the same short handed DL we ended the last game with when Haba went out.
  21. They need to clean up the practice roster on the bye. Should have another edge rusher, American or Canadian. Drop one of the OL. Pick a punter. Pickup a running back and if that guy can return kicks too even better.
  22. They don't gain a DI though. The scenario you're casting would force them to sit Cole. The nationalized players are still in a DI spot.
  23. Yeah the Bombers this season are far too sloppy of a team for that line. Lots of sacks and turnovers on O this year and Edmonton does have a pretty disruptive DL. Return game right now is risky.
  24. Loyalty to Collaros above all. Highest-paid player and without him we're ******. If you can't protect him, you can't see the field.
  25. A little bit of excuse making for OL group that has largely got their asses kicked week after week this season. Scheme and play calling doesn't account for that. Bryant and Gray have been generally ok. Gray is a super athletic guy that isn't best suited to the interior ever, especially if he's not moving forward, if it's all pass protecting he starts drowning. The right side has looked both slow and weak this season. Neufeld having a hell of a time deciding what to do in pass protection, endangering Collaros especially when there's no back waiting there in the protection to clean up that inside gap. Hardrick is looking very stiff, hardly even bending into his stance wonder about hips, knees, groin, back, not a ton of power coming out either way, appears to be having less trouble with figuring out his assignment in protection than Neufeld but is getting beat lots more than we're used to seeing. Watching this game in a hotel room with a couple buddies who also coach OL/DL...the one guy has a theory on Neufeld and some of the other Bombers that they keep coming back because they know the talent is still here to win, but personally they are more than ready to move on. When you see efforts like this you might buy into that theory.
