  1. A whole YAC receiving crew. Need to make tackles. Allen is built like a running back.
  2. Right. Good stats are impossible to find!
  3. I'm finding it kind of hard to believe the Ceresna hit did it. Adams is full speed lead blocking on the Redblacks last TD in that game. Delayed effect? Most people I've seen tear their ACL can hardly move because their knee is so unstable. Saw Gene Gaines passed away. Great player and great coach for like 40 years in the CFL. 7-8 years with Bombers in different eras. Late 80s-90 Grey Cup teams leading those secondaries and back with Ritchie.
  4. On the Bailey penalty...pass is still behind LOS, McCrae about level with line judge who's marking that. Issue is Bailey peels back from about the 3 to the 6 and throws the heavy block at the back left shoulder of 37. Yeah I guess you might get a reputation from tuning guys up like that, but even if you just stay shoulder to shoulder and take the swing out it's probably not flagged and you get to keep the play.
  5. Bombers are tied with Argos for lead in touchdowns scored (Argos have had a bye already). Oliviera leading league in yards from scrimmage by like 100 yards over Schoen. Only guys close in yards per game are Mills from Calgary and Tuggle from Ottawa. Bombers (19), Argos (19), Ticats (6 LOL), Elks (6 LOL) haven't missed a field goal or PAT. Thus far the placekickers with the lowest percentage are Paredes and Lauther.
  6. Gotta track it yourself or hope someone like DT does.
  7. I was thinking watching that game that Adams looked pretty damn frail to be a option style QB in this league.
  8. Can't throw a block peeling back toward your own endzone, even on special teams. Easy call and they'll call it 100% of the time. If he just takes up space there and doesn't throw the block it's fine.
  9. Coaching and continuity. Some of those power plays they run off their base concepts aren't possible if you're bringing in a new guy every week like some places are out of necessity of injury or poor play. Guys have to read the same thing to pull those inside trap blocks effectively.
  10. See the Bombers running a lot of wide and inside zone. McCrae's big run this past week a good example of wide zone. Whole line moving left, Bryant washes his guy wide which sets the edge, decent play by the defender but since the line gets driven back by the interior into the backers there's no one behind to make the play when McCrae cuts vertical. BOLO comes with Jet motion likely to seal that backside edge if Montreal crashes, but the end shifts pre-snap inside, basically head up on Hardrick at the snap (who is drive blocking left right through the end) and the SAM is just waiting so they leave him. For added blocking they have Bailey motion and come right through the interior of the line. Helped that 44 on Montreal ran out wide and took himself out of the play too, then he has a wall of his own teammates and Bombers between him and the gap McCrae hits. I feel like Bailey is kind of freelancing on the run blocking side on plays where he doesn't have a defined assignment like cracking an end and the coaches trust him to do that.
  11. In zone you usually leave the backside end unblocked by the OL so it’s generally 5 on 3 or even 5 on 2 at the line. That’s where that split block going counter the line or a receiver cracking on the end on the backside comes in if it’s not a read play. It’s doubles across the line driving with the flow of the play to catch other defenders downfield. It’s why DC’s like Hall love the bear front so much because it forces big on big blocks vs the run but pulls linebackers up into the line which is risky vs the pass and also forces your SAM and DBs to make tackles. In what I’m scheming up for my guys we love seeing the bear front because if everyone play side even just turns their block off the gap off guard or off tackle we probably have 8 yards for our back before he gets touched. Much harder to block through that flow to the ball if the backers are off the line.
  12. The entire run scheme of football right now is double at the line and work up to a linebacker.
  13. I wouldn't want to use Demski to throw those blocks very much. We need him to be able to make plays. It's basically like a special teams play, run 7-8 yards across formation and bash into the unblocked edge full speed.
  14. It would be nuts to throw someone like Gauthier at fullback given that he's a pretty important role player on D. The split zone look is what is in vogue right now. I'm not sure why Augustine isn't used to run that. Even when they had all 7 OL on that one play they ran an inside trap play, likely due to the alignment of the nose, center blocking right, guard looping around to second level with Gray running the split block on the backside end. It's just a guy heading downhill to seal backside, which Augustine should be able to handle. Otherwise you might have some Arc blocks to backside, lead blocks on backers/DB's or pass protection. Augustine has been here long enough to know the assignments, should be physically capable and at least he's a guy the D will have to count because he could catch a pass. Augustine is like a 5'8 210 pound ball of muscle. If he can't throw a backside block on a defensive end I'm not sure why he's here. My only worry with Eli is his mobility in this type of run scheme, really any in the CFL. I think that's why he hasn't got the job yet.
  15. Other than the fact their secondary is scoring more points than their offensive two years running.
  16. He got beat once in Montreal in pass pro first series. Otherwise he was pretty crucial in the run game busting off the double teams to get backers. The OL as a whole is a lot better when the play calls focus more on working downhill at the D then sitting back in pass pro. Kelly played more DB for us last week in Montreal than Exume did in all of 2019. I think they'll have a hard time pulling Kelly off based on how he's played so far. I'm not sure Karamoko fits better than Maruo. That WIL/MAC spot is where we're actually loaded, WIL more specifically for Karamoko. Maruo plays some there but also plays as a rush backer in 30 fronts or even straight up as an end at times. Also pretty solid chasing kicks.
  17. Why the **** are people here using ignorant Rider Fans terms?
  18. Yeah seems like a good idea to sign a guy who hasn't played O since high school and put him out there in protections to mind the head and knees of our $600,000 QB.
  19. They ran 1 snap with all 7 OL out. They have been dressing 7 because they literally did not have another Canadian available to dress. Kramdi if he's healthy wouldn't be the next Canadian off the roster. Likely be Kelly sitting before him.
  20. I wouldn’t be surprised if they make a choice between Dobson and Eli with the other guy going on IR. Exume and Kramdi on. Murphy and 7th OL off.
  21. Calgary needs a QB to be worried about. Pretty easy to defend the same hitch screen right or left all game every week. And Maier has almost no mobility too so can’t even cut the field in half for him to settle him in. They’ll probably go to Stevens at some point this summer.
  22. Holm didn’t cover 500 square yards on one play…he sucks for sure. If Holm could do his job we wouldn’t even need to dress 5 DBs.
  23. I doubt Walker comes out unless he’s injured at all this season. He’s been pretty solid taking regular reps at 3 spots depending on the package. We don’t really have the Canadian depth behind Lawson even at end to roll with him and Thomas. It’s the downside of having a couple American specialists in Castillo and Grant in terms of overall roster depth. Kelly looks like a guy who can play. Got in at half and field corner last night in the 4th with some injuries.
  24. Agudosi is already out this week. Would be McCrae (who is now injured) and Murphy most likely. Murphy might stay on depending on the situation with the rest of the Canadians. I’m not sure we’ll be dressing 7 OL forever.
  25. 15 had a good night on a much easier assignment vs Fajardo who doesn’t have the arm to get the ball out wide in a way that gives the receiver a shot to gain more yards. Might be fine vs Calgary too as Maier doesn’t have much of an arm. Think we’ll want an upgrade vs BC, Sask, Toronto.
