  1. I don't think it will matter for a kicker. The only time the starters are counted are O and D. A kicker will still need a DI spot just to get onto the roster as an American.
  2. In the end it will be bad for the league because it will encourage teams to keep worse players in DI slots simply because they have status to replace Canadians and discourage developing American players when it comes to shorter term decision-making (ie who do we keep around when we cut the roster).
  3. There will be a lot of making it up as things "evolve" in my opinion...both on the team and league levels.
  4. There's no benefit to running 6 receivers unless you have a QB who you want running, and who is a running threat. Otherwise you just let the DL/blitzers tee off.
  5. The reality is that the beat writers right up to Tait have no ******* clue what’s going on. They take 50 reps each but you’ll just get “this guy made a great move once.” The only thing they can really report on is the narrative feel of things. It would be nice if each city had an actual football analyst more engaged with training camp. Say Walby. I get that he doesn’t really want to put the time in now. And to some extent there’s not really an audience for that depth of coverage like there is for the NFL.
  6. Don't really care about last year tbh for Castillo. 2021 his distance and net were better than Liegghio's 2021 or 2022. I don't really see him not doing kickoffs if he's on the roster.
  7. Oh, Craig Dickenson realized culture is key in building a team. I mean why not 18-0?
  8. Why would Liegghio kickoff if Castillo is playing? Because we want to lose 15 yards of field position each kick?
  9. Osh Jr getting all the targets eh…QB that makes him look best might get the 3rd QB slot.
  10. Built like a brick **** house. Think they saw long snapper in his bio from one of the schools, played DL for Buffalo last year. Bet they are looking at him for the 3 tec spot.
  11. O'Shea Jr is as much of a CFL prospect as anyone picked Round 3 on in the 2023 draft aside from the obvious NFL guys teams took fliers on to grab their CFL rights just in case. Let's just say he was a much more dominant player in the BCFL than many others who were drafted, even in the same position and as a straight up playmaker as a returner. Now some of those guys have the things you can't teach, like being 6'5 230. But doesn't make them a football player.
  12. So both FG blocks in the Grey Cup last year would be illegal defensive formations now.
  13. Jones has a big arm but nothing is happening fast in his highlight pack. Callis has a funny release and not much going downfield. Wonder if they saw some traits in him to be a running QB.
  14. In the CFL 2 yards in should be a gimme. You can load up the box or you run you're entire offense with a 20 yard endzone to work with. If you have 3-4 half decent RPO plays with a QB who can boot for 2 yards you're looking at a huge defensive play needed to stop it. Say you score 3 TD's in a game and you convert 2 2PAT's...you've got 22 points. If you make all single PATs, you've got 21. Most kickers since they moved the PATs back are between 80-85% so going 2/3 on 2PAT's is more points in many games and for sure over a whole season. Especially if it's windy or otherwise tough conditions I'd be going for 2 every time. I don't really see the odds and variables involved (snap, hold, kick) of making the 1 pointer as any easier than getting to the goal-line from the 2.
  15. Honestly if it were 2013 you might have a point with this. But they are playing to win NOW. Liegghio is far more valuable being a great punter than being a mediocre kicker and a good punter. Think Rob Maver. He was picked in the first round to do all 3 jobs, pretty quickly realized he wasn't a great kicker. The other part is that Liegghio is good as gone to the GTA after this season.
  16. Taylor is one to get excited about. Not very fluid or technically sound, but just straight up unblockable getting underneath guys, around them and unwavering in pursuit. Kind of a perfect CFL rush end, Philip Hunt-esque.
  17. The problem with the draft coverage is that no one really covers USports or junior football to any depth. You almost have to if you want to have anything relevant for the draft. I mean even in the US where NCAA down to D2 is covered intently most of the draft coverage is just stupid cliches. But at least the first 100 picks or so has some depth to the coverage.
  18. Yeah that was BS. They used him in a hybrid role out of the backfield. He catches as good as any running back. Maybe they are talking about route running, but he'll basically be that blocking back who maybe sneaks out into the flat or runs across the formation.
  19. We'd be lucky if he's Rory Kohlert's younger brother Kory Kohlert. I'd wager Rosery is tagged for a H back type role if he plays at all on O. Kind of like Declan Cross, Calvin McCarty type.
  20. Don't draft a dead guy, don't draft a dead guy, don't draft a dead guy Montreal goes with Shedler Fervius in 5th round.
  21. Gotta say it...**** John Hodge for calling any pick in this draft a reach.
  22. Long snappers getting picked in 3rd round. Great draft year.
  23. They are going to have to really hurry to even get through the second round by 9 PM.
  24. Yeah awful. All the good OL are NFLers. The top rated CIS OL tested extremely poorly including getting dummied in the live drills. Not a lot of years where Bull would be a 1st rounder let alone 1st overall.
  25. This guy was a successful college player...oh, I thought a lot of pro football prospects had terrible college careers. HUGE special teamer. They aren't drafting him to play D.
