  1. UND. Sask had him neg listed.
  2. Don't mind losing Clements at this point. Add extra import DL, rotate 8.
  3. The guys who clear waivers don't have to join the PR of the team that cut them. They are free agents. Quite possible Desjarlais shopped for the best opportunity.
  4. It vests at 55 and if you've made $5 million or $10 million or $20 million that pension should seriously be moot. They do gain access to a mutual fund called a 401k in the US if they make the benefit cut off, but it's up to them to invest their money into it.
  5. No and I doubt that's even a huge factor TBH. A $20,000 a year pension when you're making $200,000 on PR. Invest it well.
  6. Assume Adams has a large bonus structure of guaranteed cash so his weekly cheques aren't that huge. Adams weekly pay probably about $6000 per game, maybe a bonus for playing 50% of snaps each week. Rourke around $4000 a week plus bonuses. BC has 8 games left so they probably need to cover about $20,000 hard money to acquire Adams. They've had three big money guys on 6 game, two of them for the whole season. It all just needs to add up at the end.
  7. Yeah and Ambrosie picked the Montreal ownership group fronted by a 90 year olds wallet over at least one other option that was both more capitalized and ambitious for potentially taking ownership of the stadium or building their own. Stern affects the whole league by running a franchise into the ground that the rest of the league has to decide to fold or fund now. Sure it's Ambrosie's fault he's in that position.
  8. The equivalent is a Bomber board member storming into Kyle Walters office to insist he doesn't trade Dakota Prukop. Imagine that. Good for the league to have morons like Stern off the sideline and back on their couch watching on TSN.
  9. They have/had a couple vets on D on 6 game. Adams likely had significant bonuses as part of his deal, upfront money, so his actual salary won't be that big of a hit.
  10. No owner in a functional organization is reaching that deep into football operations.
  11. 25% owner blocking trade talks for a QB the GM/coach refuses to even dress. Yeah Stern was an idiot.
  12. Think it's gonna depend on how much interest there was in guys. Like for Lenius it was limited. For others it was much more. Even if you don't get on a PR week 1 there's what, 200 injuries/cuts a week in the NFL? If you land on a PR for half a NFL season you make more than you can in hard money for the rest of the CFL season. Can see some of the Canadians coming up. For the Americans it's potentially more of a pain in the ass to not make much hard money if they live in the US.
  13. Dobson is the replacement for Couture on the active roster. Maybe they budgeted on having Dobson on the 1 game all season.
  14. Minus Dobson's salary on the active to replace him, so about $25,000 hard money. Around the same for Wilson. About $40,000 ish from Alexander minus his replacement on active. Save a bit around the fringe on not backfilling PR, probably about $100,000 in hard money to offer to someone or facilitate a trade.
  15. Based on a quick look at his game logs he's only been active for a max of 4 games in any season so he's at 0 accrued seasons. Still PR eligible.
  16. Each team has 6 PR spots with no limit on eligibility. The other 10 have to be guys with less than 2 accrued seasons. Accrued season is active 9 games or more, so he might be eligible for either slot. By my calculation guys on NFL PR at minimum salary (some get more) would have to be paid prorated portion of between $240-$250,000 Canadian to make same amount of hard cash on their weekly cheque. Think the Bombers only have one non-QB making that coin and it's Jefferson.
  17. But what if the Bombers lost every game and all other games ended in ties?
  18. Dickenson enabling stupidity instead of telling the guy to STFU and be happy he's on the roster.
  19. Streveler will be active in the NFL week 1.
  20. Naylor says in there that the Als need an owner. The estate will pay the bills now but not indefinitely. The Als are in a pretty awful spot in terms of the revenues they get from that stadium. Can't see the books because it's a private enterprise but I'd doubt they can even cover their football operations payroll with their general revenues.
  21. At the very least it's an indication that Speigel's estate wants to sell the team.
  22. Think it's the classic "oops I don't have the money to fund operations of this team" fallout. Passion and money is fine. If I'm a Montreal player or a league executive I'm hoping the gamecheques from last week go through.
  23. The bottom line is the players resist funding the pension so they get what they get. Yeah their careers aren't long but they make in one year what other people in relatively normal careers make in 15-20 years. They wouldn't have to shave much more off to give themselves a pretty nice 6 figure pension.
  24. Yeah maybe. They are so locked into Flacco it seems. He's 6-17 in the last 5 years as a starter and not getting better at 37 going on 38. White at least has some upside in the same pocket passer type role, and has outperformed Flacco pretty drastically this preseason and last regular season.
  25. Jets doing an awful job of keeping the play in bounds on final Giants drive. I don't know why the Jets would keep Flacco. White is the better, younger version of him. Streveler is a RPO guy like their actual starter.
