LD Argos @ Ti Cats, Elks @ Stamps GDT

Hamilton fans got a pretty solid "NO MEANS NO" chant going when Argos had the ball. TSN does not want to address the Kelly situation at all. -
Blue Bombers - 2024 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
JuranBoldenRules replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Our D turned a corner when Wilson went out. They didn't give up a TD in the first 3 games he was out. Not sure I'm rushing him back. Don't really see a good fit for him unless we have a time machine to 2019 or 2021. Keep playmakers in. Use Griffin more at WIL. Like Jones playing more of that tackle to tackle spot with minimal downfield pass coverage responsibility. I don't see why Gauthier can't essentially fill in for Bighill when we want two more old-school type LB's out there with Jones stepping up to every down. Kind of like in 2019 when half our secondary lost their jobs when Taylor, Mike Jones and Maston stepped up mid-season. I think more and more we're seeing guys suited for the roles in this particular scheme get into the lineup and on the field. And the results pour in. They need to figure out how to get a pass rush from the DL. Adams back on should be a no brainer. Personally I like Garbutt over Haba, keep Haba around if you really want but start bringing guys in who are that 5'11-6'1 230-250 body type to press the edge and maybe win some reps, hassle QB's. -
Do you have eyes? When's the last time the guy made a play? Watch his running in 2019 or even the Ottawa game compared to right now. Even on the high ankle sprain in the 19 playoffs he had more explosion. He's got nothing. He's either aged 20 years since July or he's injured.

Can't see Bighill getting back. Think he's got a broken leg/ankle.

Why will the CFL brain trust never learn?

Yeah call it and review to confirm. NCAA has it right. The only way to stop it is to start ejecting guys for using their helmets as weapons and/or taking late shots at other guys. -

The most rushing yards Buck had in a season was around 300 as a full time starting QB. Streveler as a part time player in two seasons before he left for the NFL had 1200 yards. Not really a similar style at all. -

Hamilton lost a receiver and their starting QB vs Edmonton to two illegal hits by the same Edmonton LB within 3 series in the 1st quarter and neither were even penalized. -
Streveler is very banged up. He’s not really a run threat right now. And his entire ability to pass in this league relies on his mobility and the RPO stuff which is basically a triple option for the D to defend. I think at his best he can run a 400 yard offense but it’s gonna be 200 yards passing and 200 rushing with him picking up a big chunk of that. Can he do that for 18 games…doubt it. He hasn’t made it through many games without getting injured.
-
Yeah as a passer. If he's compromised at all and not a threat to run there's not much to build from in terms of game planning. He's not going to live in the pocket like Collaros or Harris.

I've never done anything but walk in Regina. Even when I was there for an entire fall. Half hour walk in any direction and you're outside city limits.

With spikes on it to deter head shots. -
Dunigan calling out Sask on Sportscentre for targeting QB's.
-
I'd take Adams over Haba. Adams gets more pressure off the edge than Haba does. If you're going to play a ton of 30 fronts anyway, Adams is a way better fit.

NCAA too. Any targeted head shot is immediate ejection, on anyone not just QB's. CFL we have guys going around spearing anything that moves. You have guys like Hefney breaking their necks from throwing those hits. If they care at all about player safety they'll start actually officiating the games. -
Because the refs don't know what to do.
-
Wouldn't be so bad if we had guys actually collapsing the pocket and making him move. We have Jefferson running past the pocket, Haba playing patty cake and Garbutt staying on the tackle's outside shoulder never leaving like we're playing Tre Ford who is going to escape and be able to do something.
-
That's exactly what it was. And Mace was there on Dickenson's staff. They had no intent of completing a pass there. The route was to charge the DB for contact and throw the ball at it. That's why it was such an easy pick.

There's no disincentive for guys on taking those shots. Ho hum 15 yards. Start handing out suspensions. Two of these games in a row with late and purposeful helmet to helmet hits way after the ball is out, even way after the play is over, on a guy who has been MOP or divisional MOP every year since pandemic. -
Once we had an offense that got what, 3 first downs, in a half? We do need someone to get around the edge and into the backfield though. Not really sure what Haba brings. Call up another American rush end type to play every week until you find a guy who's explosive.
-
I think they have him out there for that sideline kick to slap it out but the kick was way into the field. Probably could have had another guy under the front line. Crazy bad prep for that kick. Need a receiver there to go get it. Once a guy commits to receive the kick they can't belt him too....gets a shot to catch it clean. But if you stand on the ground like an outfielder staring into the sun trying to track a fly ball you allow the kick team to make it a scramble.
-
Yeah that was clearly the play for that receiver. On replay Mace is pointing out there to line judge before contact even made.
-
Great in theory but there's 12 defenders on the field too. Sask presses the line of scrimmage. They play some 2 high but a lot of cover 0. Gotta make vertical throws to beat it. Of course we didn't try any but Streveler both isn't a great passer and is looking a little physically compromised.
-
Media has too much respect but they need to ask/report on Streveler condition. Guy is clearly busted up. Everything he does is completely upright. He can't run the ball right now either. He used to bust off runs off guard in short yardage even earlier this season. He's getting like 1.5 yards on a play now no matter where the run is going. He can't get around the edge. He's got no power.
-
The guy in Willie's spot is supposed to attack the ball. If you wait on it that's exactly what happens. Becomes a scramble.
-
Interesting note on the final kick... Sask took the ball at half with their choice instead of the wind in the 4th. We got that last Sergio kick from 56 with wind at our backs. And they had the 60 yarder to win with the wind in their face.
