Not really sure how some of the changes will be implemented but pre-Globals the DI's and QB's were the only designated players on the roster. DI's had to report when subbing to line judge/head linesman depending on side their bench is on and that official monitored substitution to make sure it was legal.
-
Thought we could dress two Globals as well. The 7th OL could be useful.

League cuts we should take a look at

Kony Ealy. If he’s in any kind of shape and we can get him on the roster to rotate at DL would be a nice pickup. -

These cutdown days are just another CFL stupidity. How are half the cuts known to the public and half the teams still TBA? Have the cuts in at say 2 PM central and announced by 3 PM. I’d take Dante Brown as our PR kicker over Mourtada. -
Thanks for moderating.

The same thing Augustine and Oliviera have? We've had 3 Canadian backs the past two seasons. It's not like it would be a stretch to roster him. I'm sure he could be coached into a pretty strong special teamer.
-
Damn, think you gotta find a way to keep Borsa around. Riders will sign him and that will bite us in the ass. Mourtada being here in case Liegghio sleeps past his alarm clock on gameday for this week....ok. But we can and should be bringing in a better prospect for that spot either Canadian, American or Global.
-
One of the big issues with the panel being a little less moderated by the host is that Milt does not shut up either. Dunigan could barely speak on any of the QB's last night.

In terms of ability to grow generally not wrong, but the comparison is absolutely stupid. The CFL is positioned where it is. He should research how profitable XFL and USFL teams have been. Nobody is going to compete with the NFL and top level NCAA football on this continent, even world, so at best the CFL is trying to have franchises in the range of 45-50 in terms of most valuable football teams. In reality his franchise is the one that has the most ability to grow. The fact it's not happening is nobodies fault but his own operations team. Every other team in the league is responsible for local marketing and they have the biggest market by at least 5x.

One of the best hosts around who has some personality but can keep the focus on the product is actually Rod Black. Terrible at Play-by-Play but great host and naturally funny.
-
Yeah I liked the podcast stuff and eventually when they had sort of the Jay and Dan (now just Jay) version of Sportscentre along with the more typical version. The whole issue for me is that the sports are the star of the show. Yeah you need presenters to read the highlights/intro the panel and they need some personality but it's a pretty fine line before it's just attention seeking nonsense. If someone like Beirness wants to be a star find an open mic night somewhere or get one of the ESPN/Landsberg type shows where the hosts are the focal point.
-
The comparison to the big league teams is absurd. You're talking best in the world leagues vs the CFL. The CFL are going to be behind the NFL and SEC/Big Ten/Big 12 football in profitability no matter what they do. So if you're looking at the Leafs, the most profitable hockey team in the world versus the CFL you're nuts. If you can't come to terms with that sell the team.
-
Beirness has major Jay and Dan FOMO. She wants to be it but she doesn't have it so it's all just painfully awkward unfunny garbage. CFL on TSN needs a host.

Will be interesting to see how this hashmark change goes. The rocket armed QB's (like that big goon the Riders have on the sidelines from Central Connecticut) might have more of an advantage over the dual threat types who can't get a throw out to the sideline now. Harder to run the common concepts that have formed the base of the CFL offenses for past couple decades, the Trestman West Coast inspired stuff and the June Jones Run and Shoot 3 man routes to the boundary stuff.
-
So much effort to get the ball to the boundary for Fajardo. The hashmark change is going to kill some of these QB's with weak arms.
-
The quarterback.
-
Davis Alexander was the Montreal QB. Can't imagine they'll keep Dom Davis around.
-
Liked that 4th Montreal QB. Whoever is scouting QB's for Ottawa needs to find someone who can pass. Overprioritizing mobility.
-
Lapolice should lose his first regular season challenge for this.
-
The Ottawa kicker Maltos is better than Mourtada and a Global player. If they cut him we should sign him and if not I'd deal our next pick in the kicker draft for him. Could run Maltos as placekicker, Liegghio as punter. Both are capable of doing both jobs.
-
Richie Hall has taken how many rookie/castoff DBs and turned them to all-stars? Right back to BA and Fogg with us.
-
Yeah but Jyles had already proven he wasn’t going to reach his ceiling and had two serious injuries at the end of his time here (throwing shoulder) and with Toronto when Johnny Sears cleaned his clock. Everyone here was shocked we got the 4th overall pick in the trade for him. I mean part of those import for import training camp deals is always that both guys are likely cuts…meaning Toronto was likely to cut Darby.

Punts and convert too. Can't punt for ****. Less distance on all kicks than Liegghio. -

I hope Liegghio has won both kicking jobs. Not sure why Mourtada is still here. Even if we're going import/global for either spot we need to find much better than Mourtada.
