QB is a specific designation that has nothing to do with the ratio. Those guys can only play QB and kick. There are 4 designated imports and the rest of the imports on the roster are effectively starters for the refs. All the refs do in terms of managing sidelines and subs revolves around those DI's. Not really sure how you can watch this game so much and just clue into how the ratio works.
Two of them are QB's which are separate entirely.
4 are DI's and one will effectively be a starter who can sub without reporting.
This really isn't complicated at all.
You can’t based on how it’s set up. There are literally only 4 import roster spots that aren’t designated starters…they are designated imports!
Youre basically alleging they somehow dressed extra imports?
Rule has always been the same. Don’t get too hung up on the depth chart. The only players they declare are the DI’s and QB’s.
Yes we will have one American “backup” who is not a DI who can sub in for anyone because we’ll have up to 7 Canadians on O most of the time when we are only required 6.
I don't quite understand how Mourtada even ended up here. His numbers in arena ball are horrific, basically the same as his numbers here. It's a narrower target, but also a narrower field. Heard the stuff about Medlock recommending him, but really he's gotta be benefiting from the fact our scouts can't really go to the US. Then the next piece, how did we dress him? Is he not having the same issues in practice?
The depth chart doesn't matter, it's for media. The only players reporting for subs are the DI's, that's who the team has to designate to the refs along with the 7 Canadian starters and which side of the ball they are on. If you start 2 on D, you always need 2 Canadians on D minimum, but if you want to put 5 out there that's fine you just can't sub DI's (the non-starting internationals) in for Canadians on O and D. On special teams there is no count. The DI's are the players who have to report in when they sub so the refs can ensure the ratio is followed.
Not an extra DI. The only imports designated are the DI's, the rest are technically starters but you can always sub a Canadian in for one, can always play extra Canadians but limited to number of internationals on each side of the ball. I'd guess we are going 5 NI's on O, 2 on D as our "starters" but could pretty easily go 6 and 1 based on the OL this week.
I'd rather trade Gray than a high pick. Those picks are more valuable with the rookie contracts now.
Personally think it was a major screwup to not have 2-3 guys up here on the bye week so they'd be ready to play by now. Put the best one on the roster.
