  1. Jets tenth in the lottery right now adjusted for points/game, probably could fall as low as 8th realistically. Makes that 2nd round pick pretty valuable too...that's the 41st pick right now.
  2. He can be a spare...
  3. Most entertaining part of the NY-DC game is getting to hear all the drama on the New York sideline. Should be putting out a line on who will win the fight between McGloin and the OC.
  4. Meh, Martinez is just another Sbisa/Kulikov/Beaulieu. That's exactly the kind of move I'm afraid of. The Jets need to restock, not add another Kulikov type deal with similar output.
  5. Nice to see Jones pumped after winning that game. Every other time I've watched her play this season I've got a miserable vibe from her, just seemed like she was losing the passion. Hopefully she has a good Scotties, but she's probably in a dogfight to make the top 4.
  6. Yeah the Jets really need to fall out of this race to the middle, get the pick and focus on cleaning up their cap sheet/add assets to turn the team over to the younger core and hopefully open up the next contending window. I'm really fearful that Chevy is going to do something stupid at the deadline to try to shore up the roster for the present if the Jets are still kind of in the race. He's said a couple times about "owing" it to the guys who signed here long-term. I mean at some point they all have to realize they aren't competitive with the teams that are contenders. Better off making moves to contend again than making moves to finish 8th in the conference and lose in 5-6 games.
  7. Wonder if Chevy takes a cap dump off someone else's hands to allow them to make moves at the deadline in exchange for some draft/prospect capital. Vegas is a team that immediately comes to mind with some forwards that are pending UFA's eating up cap space and a real need to add on D...Eakin, Reaves, Merrill (know he's a D but total pylon). Something like...Eakin and New Jersey's 3rd rounder for someone who can be buried in the minors like Logan Shaw, Sbisa whoever. Lets VGK open up cap space to make another move on a rental D. Guess that kind of maneuvering depends on the Jets realizing they aren't contenders this season.
  8. Definitely doesn't need to be declared as a DI there's specific roster spots for G's, globals. The question is whether he can effectively "start" on the depth chart as one of the 7 required Nationals or if he'd have take the place of an International starter in that scenario. As of last season Hansen was able to sub in for anyone. I don't believe they even considered a global player starting last season.
  9. McGloin is a terrible QB for NY. Will be interesting to see how fast these teams move on to the next guy at QB. NY used old Sask QB Marquise Williams on a fake punt earlier. Also have Luis Perez who I believe was on Argos neg list.
  10. This is absolutely a strength of this regime. There's been a few big whiffs, mostly in the early days out of sheer desperation, but otherwise they've been real intelligent in how they navigate free agency to land the few impact players and not get caught up with guys that are average-good. They get elite guys and they get good value guys.
  11. Sask might be #4. BC has not added any impact players to a team that was pretty bad. They are the worst team in the West and probably 7 or 8 with the Argos.
  12. He also played NCAA football before he went to Laval. Bede and his reps tried to get NI status while he was at Laval and the fact he was enrolled at a NCAA school nixed that.
  13. Read what I said. Per game averages over his career he's way up there among receivers. He doesn't have the longevity of guys who played 15 years, no ****.
  14. Walker is one of the best receivers in CFL history. His per game averages are up there with anybody and he’s done it pretty consistently aside from a blip the past summer with the Argos and the not having a QB that could pass problem. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s taking one last lap around the NFL while trying to command top non-QB money.
  15. Not even sure that’s what it is. He’s one of those guys who has been bad for long enough that he doesn’t remember what it’s like to be good, zero confidence.
  16. Lapo used Whitehead to “take the top off the D” (Lapo speak) repeatedly. That was most of his role in the offense. The problem with that being more than a decoy or clearing route to open space up underneath is that a guy with a relatively small catch radius needs to be pretty open to be a legitimate target deep. And they were able to get him loose a few times, obviously he had a couple big games in the summer with those routes. Once the D pays him attention and sits a DB at the top of his routes he’s not much of an actual threat deep. The real benefit is that space opened up for digs, posts/flags away from his routes and space for YAC type stuff. There’s double moves but it seemed like the timing for those with Whitehead was never in sync when they did go to it. That’s why the guys in this era of match coverages who are “deep threats” are mostly 6’2-6’4 freaks strong with long arms and big hops who can win 50-50 balls quite often. That catch radius is more important than a .2 speed difference in the 40.
  17. At this point a guy who is borderline NFL material has nothing to lose by waiting until spring. Teams cap structure is pretty much set, they won't lose money and might even gain a bit by waiting until camp to sign with injuries etc, teams getting skittish about how their roster is shaping up.
  18. And last season he was a Bomber, as I stated.
  19. There's a few guys who would be interesting to compete for jobs in camp, maybe stick around on PR/IR to fill in for injuries down the line: Travis Bond...surprised he's not in the XFL tbh Davon Coleman, would be a real nice fit here at DT Fogg and Fenner, versatile DB's, great special teamers Josh Woodman, NI DB good special teamer, passable on D Terry Williams, great returner, decent RB Romar Morris, pretty lethal returner for Calgary in 2018 but big injuries over and over. Bunch of good receivers out there. Armanti Edwards is a real good slot. Actually can't believe Lapo isn't all over him for gadget stuff too, Lankford, bring him back to keep Medlock in shape, keep that 40 time low so he can recover more punts. Some NI receivers with lots of talent who haven't put it together...Simonise, Behar
  20. It's a 98% probability that we'll have a DI defensive lineman as we did last season with Richardson and/or Roh. Antigha probably takes the DI LB spot and can take reps in different packages in different spots. You're way overthinking this 4 months out. Richardson was a rookie last year and they'll be a bunch of guys competing for jobs again at the bottom of the roster both Canadian and import.
  21. Minimum salary is up. That's easily $150,000 per team in cap space. Each one of those guys we lose has a replacement, even if you're replacing with a rookie that's half to 3/4 of the saving gone.
  22. The cap hasn't adjusted much in the last 5 years, and certainly on a per player basis it's essentially less now with the higher minimum salary. Bryant was making 180 all in on his first deal here. The concession the PA made and how the league believes the increase to the minimum salary will be mitigated are the mandated salaries for draft picks. We'll see how that works out. I can tell you the agents believe it will result in lots of players not signing very quickly. It will certainly continue to make navigating those early rounds of the draft a delicate balance between drafting the best football players and drafting someone who will sign.
  23. Second worst of the regulars. Jon Ryan was worse.
  24. Laughable. Maver is a potential HOFer. Pfeffer is a guy still trying to win a job. Maver's net punting in 2019 was 4 yards better than Pfeffer's. The only punter worse in the league last year was Jon Ryan.
  25. I don't believe Blazdek is very good. I actually think there's a pretty good chance he doesn't make any roster this season.
