  1. The only actual kickoff return I've seen was because of a muffed catch. Wonder how quickly they'd adjust the rules...and how they didn't realize the lineup would make it impossible to bust a return.
  2. I do like hearing the conversation between the ref and replay official. CFL can steal some of the good ideas.
  3. June Jones has a Masoli clone at QB.
  4. Nice that they leave the mics hot when a guy is injured and being tended to for all of us to hear.🙃
  5. There's some good receivers in this game. Proehl on Seattle is a guy I'd neg list. QB's are junk.
  6. The impact Jefferson's salary will have is on the 3rd import DL cap wise. On the receiver end there's some money to spend with Adams money out of the picture plus the bucks they allocated last season for Matthews. Signing Jefferson won't stop the pursuit of a top receiver as a replacement for Adams.
  7. There's been some pretty horrific headshots on receivers in this game too, one was on a tailback on a screen he took a headshot on the initial contact and as he was heading down to the turf another guy drilled him helmet to helmet. Not many flags.
  8. The kickoff setup basically makes it impossible for the return team to set up blocks for a big return. Might as well get rid of kickoffs.
  9. First game been real sloppy so far. Looks like offenses relying mostly on screens. Talent level not very high, which is pretty much always the downfall of these leagues, especially with QB's who can't pass. Certainly not wide-open football, one offensive TD so far.
  10. I think rush end is a position to wait on. The market is pretty flooded and after the game of musical chairs ends there will still likely be a few really good players available who still need a chair and now have less leverage for $$$.
  11. Nobody is like Jefferson. His value is his ability to play the ball and disrupt passing lanes. He's an average pass rusher in terms of consistently disrupting the pocket, he's not a motor guy. When he's on he's the most impactful player in the league, but that's a few games a year. Luckily one of those games was the Grey Cup. Unpopular opinion here, but Jeffcoat is a significantly better player down after down, and a guy who also creates turnovers. Obviously having them both would be great. I like Casher too, he's a motor guy who finishes plays and has a bit of an edge.
  12. Did you hear of Nick Arbuckle before last season?
  13. Interested to hear details...3 years probably doesn't indicate the greatest deal for the player.
  14. I get the play for TV money. Of course TV is dying so streaming might be an option too with so many services competing. Either way they'll know if the product is worth selling in the next couple months. Three years from now is immaterial to success or failure.
  15. The plan makes no sense. He's somehow going to run the league for three years, struggle and then get TV deals worth hundreds of millions? What's special about three years from now? The product is a hit this season or it's pretty much done. I think he's overestimating his own willingness to burn money.
  16. Not a ton. He'd be in the mix to win a job, but don't think his name is on the roster in ink. Only imports in that spot right now on O are the OT's, Lawler and Grant (as kick returner).
  17. Moving forward I believe the target is for Wolitarsky to play inside fulltime and potentially start him, Demski and Petermann, keeping in mind Harris turns 33 this season and will probably miss a few games for maintenance. There will be 2 import playmaker/returner types on the roster, one DI and one "starter" for ratio purposes but really a free backup. Grant is probably the DI, Whitehead, Nelson and other training camp signings will be in play for the second spot. Probably keep moving forward with 6 locked in NI's on O and 1 locked in on D. So in terms of JFG you swap him onto the roster for a guy like John Rush. 99% of his role will be special teams and there's the odd time he'd be used on O as the third slot to come in the box and block a blitzer or as injury replacement. I firmly believe the Bombers #1 target in free agency (aside from our own guys) is a difference making boundary WR, Derel Walker. I think Rhymes or Posey would be the consolation prize and if they get none of the three they might go back to Darvin Adams. Starters would be: Big free agent signing, Lawler, Wolitarsky, Demski, Petermann Whitehead/Nelson/guy who makes the team and Janarion Grant plus JFG and maybe another depth NI guy who can play teams well.
  18. I think Hallett and Exume can play. Exume is a potential candidate for field corner too, not necessarily safety. Hallett was on track to be a real high pick at the 2018 East-West Bowl, got knocked down by injuries and isn't the most exciting combine body. We still have lots of role players on D and we really only need one on the field at a time if O stays healthy. Could do a lot of things if guys like Hallett and Exume show they can play D, use one as the dime and sub Thomas out for 30 packages, also have a useful guy like Briggs who can come in when we want Wilson to play that rush backer spot behind a 30 front. I wonder how cheap Westermann would play for. Probably going to retire but would be a nice rotational guy at say 90k plus some incentives.
  19. He's signed through this season. What exactly do people think his trade worth is? Probably not much more than 4th or 5th round pick. It's a 44 man roster, don't overanalyze signings for the bottom third of it too much. The coach trusts JFG and knows him. He's a guy to play teams and slot in if there's a pinch on O in terms of injury.
  20. Likely replacement for foot soldiers like Hecht, Rush, Janke...depth guy who can take snaps on offense if needed but trusted contributor for special teams.
  21. Not really wasted roster spots. Basically just moving a special team spot over to receiver, so for instance if they sign someone like Adjei you dress him instead of John Rush. Adjei also plays special teams. If they are viewing Wolitarsky as a slot, you have him, Lawler and Demski. You have a spot open at the boundary, which IMO will be really their only big money free agent target. Then you have the field WR which could easily be played competently by a combo of Petermann/Adjei. Both those guys can block too so can play inside and support run game. A lot of versatility in that group, size, speed. Depending on where other Canadians are dressed we could have a free sub American backup receiver who can slot in on any snap, or could use a DI there and have that free sub on D assuming using 8+ Canadians regularly on O and D continues.
  22. The rules are incredibly confusing. Going to be real hard to sell the product. People know what football is and they want football. I think taking the best rules from different leagues giving minor tweaks is one thing, for instance only needing one foot in bounds to make a catch, no fair catches, no punts out of bounds, only 2 point converts allowed. What the XFL is doing is impossible to engage people in IMO. Nobody is going to understand what they are watching and I bet even their own coaches are going to be confused as to what the hell the rules are. The rules are so different that the product will be unrecognizable from NFL, NCAA, CFL etc.
  23. Start 3 need to probably dress 4 minimum. Would be really nice to have that many Canadians on O could almost go all import on D, probably still start 1 on D just in case a few in game injuries happen.
  24. Would love to see Natey Adjei here. Between him and Petermann that's an easy Canadian starter. Wolitarsky moves into the slot this season. Having another couple guys who can be consistent contributors gives us some insulation to injury. Also Adjei is a special teams ace. Plays like a Bomber.
  25. Yeah those guys or the 500 other QB's in North America looking for a job.
