  1. Vikings OC channeling Lapo and probably handing the game over to the Saints by running into 9 man fronts and completely abandoning the pass.
  2. Huge boon for the host teams and cities though, usually lots of fans of visiting teams travel in. Don't think the TV ratings even create a blip anymore though.
  3. Arbuckle is ideal for Lapo. A guy who can make all the throws for that modified West Coast offense that challenges the D horizontally with the odd vertical shot, plus a guy who can grab a few yards with his legs. A lot like the guy who had the most success running Lapo's O (not counting Khari Jones, that's a different era)....Steven Jyles. I think Ottawa's O will be fine. Their D needs a full on rebuild.
  4. I think I would have challenged the 5th Toronto goal. Hellebucyk is trying to recover and Taveres gets a pretty good whack on him and doesn't come close to the puck.
  5. Yes and there's a cap on bonus money they can give on those deals as well. Not sure what it is now a few years ago it was $75,000 for all the futures contracts for each team.
  6. Really miss Copp IMO. He does a lot in all 200 feet to insulate some of the really poor puck decisions by our D, him and Lowry together. He's a significant player. We'll see if Perreault can give that bottom 6 a shot in the arm tonight. Personally I think Bourque is the worst forward we've dressed this year but he's still in ahead of Shaw and Luoto.
  7. Masoli will be lucky if he's ready to play sometime in August. Hopefully he's dropping some weight as part of his rehab process.
  8. I think that has more to do with Nichols than playcalling. Nichols settled into this ball protection mindset and completely lost the mid-range 10-20 yard passing game. Good for him, kept him employed and on the field because he's relatively safe. Give the team a chance to win without turnovers. With Collaros being a little more confident in his ability to make those throws our offense was a little more dynamic and less reliant on Harris making something out of nothing in the passing game.
  9. And it's not just a figure of speech to say that the Moose backup goaltenders have been "Outhouse" quality.
  10. They should fire Hunter now so they can get organized for the Medal Round against a couple speed bumps in Germany and the Czech's.
  11. Even strength the Jets top pairing was Morrissey-Trouba. For almost 3 full seasons. Byfuglien played with a few different partners but mostly Chiarot in that time frame, some Enstrom, some Kulikov. Sure the Rangers basically dealt the Jets first rounder back for an extra season with Trouba and guarantee to get him signed. I don't believe they would have qualified Pionk last July at $1.95 M. The Jets really liked Pionk and that has mostly been justified this season.
  12. $50,000 payment immediately for a $95,000 reduction in 2020, so net $45,000 down for BLM but $145,000 in cap space for the Stamps since they tack that $50,000 onto 2019 and reduce BLM by $95,000 in 2020.
  13. Hunter is a terrible coach. Trying to line match in a best on best tournament. Goes with a goalie with no pedigree as the #1. Can't do that in these quick tournaments, roll with the guys with international tournament experience.
  14. Obviously Brooks doesn't watch many Jets games. Trouba was a first pairing D here for 3 seasons, basically the entire time after the hold out. Personally I'd prefer Trouba to Hayes, that's not even close. Trouba is a consistent top pairing quality D, Hayes has one great game and four mediocre ones. The ability is there but he doesn't bring it every night.
  15. Coverages were the same. Loffler was blitzed more by Hall because he couldn't cover, same with Hecht. Hall runs a lot of match coverages where it's essentially cover 0 and each guy in coverage is covering certain routes and depths. The safeties have man coverage responsibilities as a result and Loffler was terrible at this especially on the post/corners. The drop off from Loffler to Hecht was not that steep, they both aren't every down players at safety, both have a nose for the ball and can make a few big plays, both get torched when isolated and don't offer much in Cover 2. Most often Hall would run Cover 2 looks with the HB's/SAM dropping off, even Bighill. If Loffler's body could hold up he'd probably slide into a WIL role pretty good as a Canadian. He wouldn't be as good as most Americans in the spot because his tackling is a bit suspect too, but he'd be better than a warm body.
  16. Griffen Outhouse 5 178:21 11 0 3.70 1 1 82 93 0.882 Adam Carlson 2 119:10 7 0 3.52 0 2 44 51 0.863 That's why.
  17. The Jets top 9 compares to anyone in the league. Very frustrating that this coaching staff cannot put together a PP and get the buy-in necessary from a guy like Wheeler to roll out their best and just let them dominate with movement, both puck and players. To me this is a noticeable difference between a good coach and a mediocre one. See what Tippett does with the Oilers. That is a team lacking depth but they are right in the thick of things due to special teams. The Jets are likely to fall off a cliff if Hellebucyk has a couple bad weeks because their special teams are so inconsistent and even with Hellebucyk around .930 we have the second worst PK in the league. Jets get their PP up 8-10% that's enough goals that they'd probably have another 5-6 wins on the season, the difference between being a 90 point team and a 100 point team, and probably a playoff spot.
  18. That's the big difference. Carolina has 5 guys who can move the puck consistently. The Jets have 2.
  19. 3rd Canes goal comes about 4 seconds after Staal trips Lowry as he's headed up the wall with the puck. Too bad the NHL doesn't allow challenges for blatant missed penalty calls like that which lead to goals.
  20. The Schiefele line is a mess without the puck. Schiefele chasing a guy around the zone, Laine doesn't come below the top of the circle and Carolina keeps getting chances right in front of the Jets net. I'm not a huge fan of Connor and Laine playing on the same line. They are both prone to pretty horrific decisions at their own blueline and bad decisions when the Jets don't have the puck. I'd probably swap Ehlers and Connor.
  21. BC has spent plenty of $$$ on OL. They just keeping choosing the wrong guys and struggle to develop their young guys.
  22. Another rental trade where it's one team handing over $20 for a bunch of scratch and wins. If you get really lucky they might add up to something a bit better, but you had to spend that $20 anyway. Good rental for the Coyotes, at least get a bit more than half the season and maybe get him to re-sign if he/they want him. NJ retaining half the $/cap hit also gives them some room to add more at the deadline although their next two firsts are tied up in the deal. Also think it's a good deal for New Jersey. They are in the middle of a rebuild and Hall likely won't be worth the term and dollars of his next deal. He's pretty inconsistent. The Jets spent more for 63 games including playoffs of Stastny and Hayes.
  23. Would not be surprised in the least to see BLM in Toronto. He's been inconsistent and injury-prone/compromised the past couple seasons. He's also a name that casual fans would recognize and that's always part of the push in Toronto. Think it will come down to how Dickenson and Huf feel about Arbuckle.
  24. Time to switch up the PP again and get Wheeler playing the down low/net front spot. Getting stagnant again, puck stopping on that half wall with Wheeler and he's turning it over way too much.
  25. Farhan forgot about Joe Mack. I don't understand why they would hire more than a caretaker without ownership being settled.
