I'd trade for Reilly too.

Whitehead would be great in Hamilton where they run great screens behind routes designed to open up space and run a lot of dynamic speed routes that aren’t based on cutting at 90 degrees.
-
And some of the worst open field tackling technique you’ll ever see. Like someone in an inflatable sumo suit just running at another person, no wrapping ever.
-
Gotta communicate pretty well to overcome Mr. Olympia who can't get his arms off his sides running a 5.5 40 as your safety.
-
Average yards? We're talking QB rating which has little to do with yards. QBR would be inflated for a QB who does not go downfield very much because he will have fewer incompletions, which does factor in.
-
The tactics being taught by the DB coach in terms of playing the ball and cushion aren't exactly jiving with the scheme or what Hall wants from it.
-
Janarion Grant beat Calgary.

No, talking about QB Rating generally. About as relevant as save percentage for a goalie, more of a team stat in the short-term and prone to inflation/deflation in a small sample. BLM is basically playing through an injury that should probably be season-ending and just had elbow and shoulder surgery on his throwing arm last off-season. Is it surprising Dickenson knows how to run a screen game?
-
How do sacks factor into that? QB rushing? A QB that avoids INT's and throws a good number of TD's on short fields looks like a God by that stat, even if he took 5-6 unnecessary sacks that game that derailed the offense. A bunch of 2 yard throws for completions, perfect score. Really only useful with a huge data set to iron out that kind of stuff. Like if we want to compare two QB's with decade long careers.

Montreal is turned around to what extent? They play in a division with two historically bad teams, one historically bad on O, one on D. Will give them credit for wins vs the West for sure, but really that team in the West is probably 4th place or worse. You're also talking about guys who were with the organizations and taking over midstream. Do you want Lapolice as head coach? Richie Hall? History tells us that the vast majority of outcomes will be worse than they have been under MOS. I think people need to think long and hard about why games are lost and think analyze it in the big picture. Where are the deficiencies on these teams? On the whole it is not the defense, it's not the special teams. In most games since 2016 our D has outperformed our opponent as have our special teams. Crap we've put up several games per season where our D and special teams have outscored our opponents offense! I suppose we could pin the blame on MOS for being too loyal to a certain QB, or not developing a QB, or not aggressively forcing management to pursue available QB's. There was a dramatic shift of cap space in the past off-season from the secondary to the DL which has mostly turned out well and from the OL to the receiving core, where the results have been total ****. I think our best bet for next season is to run it back with the same core staff, get Lapo out of the building and think long and hard about some of the positional coaches on D who are potentially undermining the coordinator according to some rather loud rumblings.

The problem is that he can't play with the puck in the O zone all the time...and on the road coaches who line match intelligently are going to burn the Jets, which will then lead to PoMo playing the 4th line w/Letestu 3 minutes a night and running the top 6 into the ground. Too many guys on the 23 who are poor without the puck and at the blue lines, and Letestu is one of them.

Lapo has no screen game which is completely crucial in this era. He doesn’t understand how to blend protections with his routes to give the QB a chance vs the blitz and use the open space created...we’ve seen this with every QB, Streveler can break tackles so that helps a lot. When he whips out the lateral misdirection it often works great, but he has shown no ability to sustain that more than a drive or two per game. We are hugely reliant on Harris to be a monster as an offense. The basics of a 21st century passing game are non-existent. -
Sure but do people sell their house with no idea of what the market where they want to live is? And if they know the market is not favorable to them do they sell their house anyway? There’s no point in firing someone who is doing pretty well if the market to replace him is not favorable. It’s different if there are huge locker room and control issues like there were with Berry or Kelly or Burke. In 08 for the last half of the season Glenn and Dinwiddie were in charge of game planning and play calling. It was an embarrassing mess. Nobody bought into Burke and there was no vision, no path to even mediocrity.
-
No because they aren’t a house, there’s no foundation there.
-
The bus ride to the stadium being uphill both ways was real tough too.... Whole receiving core out? Seem to remember Dressler making some pretty big plays in that game in Edmonton.
-
O'Shea saved Nichols career. So did Richie Hall. Our W-L since 2016 is nowhere near what it is without a defense that turns the ball over at a record rate from 2016-18.
-
I mean it kind of is. Give me your house and I'll give you another place to live, could be a mansion or a cardboard box, but no reason not to give me your house.
-
See how many playoff games they win. So far neither in a better position than the Bombers to contend, I guess you can say Montreal is in the East so by default they are.

Hamilton has literally done the same thing to us for 3 seasons. And the answer to that isn't to blitz more guys into that, it's to drop 9 into coverage and force the QB to make a throw into a tight spot. Hamilton's offense is to run max protect and heave rainbows that Banks, Addison etc run under or screen behind blitzes. I don't quite understand why nobody will challenge their QB's to be accurate.

Given the level of QB play we've had it's amazing how consistently this team has won, and not surprising that they can't beat teams with QB's in the playoffs. I do not believe any coaching staff would have more wins so far this season with this roster. I thought they'd end up at 10 wins before Week 1. We knew what the flaws were heading into the season, QB and secondary. They loaded up the DL, we have 5 guys making well into 6 figures in that group. We didn't expect Bighill to fall off the cliff, but that's the risk with guys 30+. Secondary has a handful of good players but nobody really great, safety spot is terrible between Hecht/Jones and only one guy with a nose for the ball. Really missing a guy like Fogg, sure he'd get burned here and there, but he also produced double digit turnovers each year he played for Hall. Those turnovers led to a lot of points and field position for an offense that struggles to drive the field. The turnovers are really what is different this season. We don't have a 2016/17 Leggett in that group.

What’s missing with that team aside from penalties is scoring points, which is an issue that lands at the feet of the person directing the offense. We really want a guy calling our plays who couldn’t make the playoffs with Mike Reilly and Derel Walker, Duke Williams, CJ Gable on the field? -

He’s not aggressive at all. 4 seasons he’s had the offense with the most yards and they are middle of the pack in offensive TD’s. That indicates that he’s not aggressive at all. And that’s with a great QB and some all time great receivers. -

Actually think Younger is the mostly likely coach to get axed aside from Lapo, but Lapo will be a mutual departure. -

I think almost anyone who's watched 5 minutes of CFL football would be a better play caller than Lapo. The Bombers have no screen game with either QB, and no throwing 3 yard suicide passes to Harris repeatedly and hoping he bounces off the first big hit isn't a screen game. Lapolice at his best relies on a lot of horizontal misdirection, he's never been very good at challenging a defense vertically without this, even with a back like Harris. How are guys like Evans, Arbuckle, Fajardo piling up yards? Their OC's run an effective screen game and that opens up plays in the mid-range and downfield. -

Are you confident Nichols could win the LDC, @Montreal and vs Hamilton? Because nothing about his play this season gave me that confidence. Sure puked up some TD passes on BC, Ottawa and Toronto (for a half each time), still couldn’t move the ball consistently against them, Bombers dominated field position/turnovers and our O did nothing against anyone else, even when we won. Took a ton of sacks. Best thing we can say is he didn’t turn it over much, but Streveler isn’t turning it over much either.
