  1. Collaros with more completions on the first possession than the last game.
  2. D scores 2 if they return the missed kick so would be incongruent if O couldn't score 2 on a change of possession. In amateur football it's dead once the convert is missed.
  3. Yeah I don't think you'll ever do anything beyond the pace of the refs. Even in the NFL the ump is always standing over the ball until they get the ready for play from the head ref.
  4. Yeah with the special teams aspect the only way to change it would be to do something to force teams to not kick. Like if you only get so many punts per half or something....which would also be stupid. Coaches are going to be conservative and play the long game. Kickers and punters are also crazy accurate these days so would you rather go for it 3rd and 5 from the 40 or pin the other team inside their 5 and take the chance they go 2 and out or turn it over? Any benefit they get from no posts (consider the posts act both ways in terms of offense being able to use them for a pick) is negated by losing the yards in the endzone that D has to defend. Think of how many TD's are scored in the back corner of the endzone. There's no way for them to definitively say these rule changes create scoring.
  5. The thing is the casual fan would be hardly aware of the rules in any depth. It's such a weird thing to focus on in the context of the business issues surrounding the league and franchises. Almost like they are in denial of what the problems actually are. They've totally ****** up the schedule. They end up competing against the NHL playoffs now to kick off the season. Everyone has drained their bank accounts in many CFL markets on NHL just as CFL is starting, not to mention the complete lack of media around the CFL.
  6. Lots of money to be made on American minor league football.
  7. Basically need to be at 35 in even to hit long range FG's. So take all those FG's teams are trying from the 30-50, turn many of those into punts. Doesn't seem like a better game. IMO...they need QB's who can play no matter what rules they make. That's why the games are hard to watch especially for casuals.
  8. I really don't see the case for increased scoring. As someone who has made the decisions to go for it on 3rd down or not, the new rules incentivize field position more than the current ones. Nobody is trying to score a Rouge unless it's the last play in a tied or 1 point game.
  9. These changes will not improve game play. Will make it harder to score points. Game will be bogged down in midfield and you'll have teams punting from the 40 going in. If you want a better game, develop some QB's. This is why several stadiums have moved the sidelines all to one side for field level seating. They are losing that.
  10. This organization has taken an absolute dump on effectively scouting the USA for the past 4 years. And that's what you're seeing on the field. I can't believe McManus has kept his job since 2023.
  11. Which game was that? Jones has zero total defensive plays this season. But I guess being out there for a few snaps or even just on the sideline in gear had a huge effect.
  12. Jones played WIL primarily for Argos and lost his job by October in 2 of his 3 seasons there (earlier last year, came back as an injury replacement for a couple games), wasn't re-signed. Looking at guys like that as being some kind of solution to a big problem is just a coping mechanism. He's another average body out there as an American player in this league. Not a difference maker, and we saw that when he was an Argo.
  13. Richie Hall preached making plays on the ball and behind the LOS. Now we just watch the other team run circles around us and hope they miss a couple throws. The aggression has been coached right out of the first two levels of this defense in the past 2 seasons.
  14. It's sad watching Streveler play now. His game was built on athleticism, not being a great passer. And he's probably never going to be more than about 80% of what he was. He's not enough of a threat to do anything with his legs so there's so little attention paid to him by the D and way less space for the receivers to operate. And he's not accurate enough to manage a game to the point of being a winning QB in those conditions against a good team.
  15. **** if they are going to review onside kicks it will basically be impossible to recover one legally.
  16. Yeah I think this was right where Walters head was. But the thing is when he goes off he draws attention, and then the next game it's someone like Ontaria Wilson popping off or Wheatfall type guy.
  17. Important factor with CFL "cap" is that unless money paid in bonuses or guaranteed it hasn't been counted yet. More than could have afforded Lawler. They made a decision to move on. And we have no receivers that suit our starting quarterback's style.
  18. Yeah he is not a cerebral guy on the field. Writing cheques his arm never could cash and his body can't anymore either.
  19. Collaros turned 37 two weeks ago for the egregiously ignorant trying to say he's about to turn 39.
  20. Well as long as you believe.
  21. This has been an issue as long as Collaros has been here. He wants to take shots. Even on the plays he gets cranked and the second INT there's a guy on his read side with nobody within 10 yards of him. The hot routes are in the scheme.
  22. Yeah just get rid of the sacred cows. They've been doing it gradually but I think they need to take some control on guys who are even all-time, HOF players. Like are we keeping Stanley Bryant at LT until he decides at age 72 that he's done? I think one of the two likely walk and do something else for awhile. Not thinking they'll go directly to another CFL team in the same role. Also not sure Dinwiddie is solid. If he makes it to next season he'll be the longest tenured Argos head coach since the 1940's.
  23. Well if they don't want QB's taking head shots seems like a pretty clear decision to make. But they also don't seem to care quite enough to take that step.
  24. So who's the hotshot GM and Coach combo you want to lead us to the next era of glory? There's a lot to lose in blowing up a front office that has proven itself more than capable of fielding dominant teams. I mean in my entire lifetime we've had only a handful competent GM's and head coaches. I think it is quite likely that the key people in that front office are ready to move on though, and that's a big part of what happens next. Doubt many people in real life have done the exact same job for 12-13 years. It's pretty unusual.
