Well if they don't want QB's taking head shots seems like a pretty clear decision to make. But they also don't seem to care quite enough to take that step.

So who's the hotshot GM and Coach combo you want to lead us to the next era of glory? There's a lot to lose in blowing up a front office that has proven itself more than capable of fielding dominant teams. I mean in my entire lifetime we've had only a handful competent GM's and head coaches. I think it is quite likely that the key people in that front office are ready to move on though, and that's a big part of what happens next. Doubt many people in real life have done the exact same job for 12-13 years. It's pretty unusual. -

Tim Burke was extremely unlucky. Just needed another decade. -
Well most recent ACL example I'm acquainted with was Gavin Walls in 09 finishing that season braced then working back from surgery with Montreal. One of my former athletes try to tough out a CFL career with constant ACL injuries with the Als. Like you said more common on lines, but Rourke's brother played most of last season for Indiana on a torn ACL braced. Obviously not possible in every case. Need stability and ability for movement. I luckily have not had knee issues, but near constant ankle and shoulder issues. I'm not saying you're wrong. You're attacking this situation with one point of view that everything the Bombers do is wrong. Your bias makes everything you say basically meaningless at this point because you can't look at anything with any moderate logic.

Sask is constant rotation on DL. Which was also a strength here in the 2016-22 era. They also use way more Canadians on D than we do. Start 3 and regularly use 5. -
So you're fixated on the extra week? The option was to try to extend this season with bracing. And has been done often. Season is well past halfway point. Tried it, didn't go well. Lost a week. No further behind. I'm sure Wade Miller would accept your application for team doctor or head of athletic therapy.

ACL is a ligament. That's what the L is. I'll just assume you're winning the Powerball based on how great you are at predicting the future.

People try to look at it binary, injured or not injured. These injuries often never get close to 100%. Everyone is playing with something, everyone has vulnerabilities related to previous injuries. Cleared to play doesn't mean anything close to back where a player was pre injury. And at a certain point sitting out another month doesn't guarantee that you're any less vulnerable....that's when they are cleared to play. There's guys in every organization that get destroyed by lower body injuries, shoulders etc. Mailk Henry went from a torn achilles to ruptured patella right when he came back. Where's Kian Schaffer-Baker? Comes back for a couple games and gets hurt again. MBT was playing with no elbow for 4 weeks because Montreal has no other QB. Davis Alexander is probably going to have to come back again before he's recovered from a soft tissue injury. It's a very hard sport and in any sport athletes get into a cycle of injury once they start having serious ligament and tendon injuries at joints. Do you just tell every person who tears their ACL to retire?

Breakdown and wrap at the waist. Guy wrapping the shoulder pads and bashing heads is going to tell us he’s making a form tackle?
-
Terry Wilson. They love him so much they'll trot anyone else crippled out there to avoid playing him in any situation.

Yeah I know but you're not going to find a Canadian who can play in Week 15. Holm is about the only guy who ever makes a play on the ball in coverage. -
I mean if Collaros is down I'd be surprised if they win more than 1 more game. We don't get to play BC or Toronto again. Just Ottawa once. Montreal at home when we might already be out of it.
-
They were running right at Woodbey and Vaughters today. Not even sure either made a tackle. That's all LB's are out there to do vs the run. Flow to the ball, make a play.
-
Ok now analyze the other 20 spots on the field where we lose every week. Well you don't build a roster from scratch every year. But they should turn the WIL spot into a Canadian one because it's not like the Americans they are using there are making any plays.

I would start by turning the WIL spot to a Canadian spot. You have that, you have Kramdi and the rest of the D is flexible. Open up another 2 American spots, use one on O, one on DL. Woodbey, Wilson, Ayres...no more than 1 of them should be dressed unless you're going to try to use Woodbey or Ayres as an edge rusher. I'd pretty quickly consider going to 4 Americans on the OL. Because we aren't going anywhere with this group. Way too inconsistent both run and pass. Not going to unearth a Canadian out of nowhere and the ones we have can't play. Dressing 2 of that group of Canadians would be all I could stomach. Would be looking at calling back guys we cut, had a crapload of Americans in camp, or guys from other CFL camps. See if you can stabilize for rest of season. I'd be looking for another receiver/RB/returner option. Echols could be it. But should be trying to sign others for a look. Looking for a spark from someone as a playmaker in the last third. Guys like Mitchell, Wheatfall, easy to drop them while looking for that spark because they are providing nothing most weeks. -
Yeah but I don't think you're winning a Grey Cup with a D that hardly makes any plays at or behind the line of scrimmage or comes up with those big turnovers themselves. This team could be a 11-12 win team with a tremendous offense and this D. Would struggle to beat other top teams. But with a sputtering offense probably a 8-9 win team.
-
D is consistent, but they don't do anything to flip the field or even score points. It's not like the 2016-2022 era team. This whole team is built on Collaros' arm. Except we didn't keep/bring in a #1 or even #2 receiver. Demski has stepped up, but can't really carry the team.
-
Fox lived on injured list here and BC. Woods and Adams had a spot between them in 2024. Lawson blew his knee out in camp. Lawson is a good player. None of these guys are difference makers. Where are our American star players? We have camps full of duds 3 years straight. He picked up a fumble so everyone saw his nameplate.
-
The whole DL should be replaced. Jefferson has had one great game this season. Doesn't get off the line, trying to read QB eyes. Vaughters has done basically nothing and is now being run at. Major off-season mistakes.
-
Our D is just alright. A good to great D turns the ball over and can get pressure with 4.
-
Mitchell, Wheatfall, Neufeld, Kolankowski, Corcoran, Streveler, Wilson bring nothing to the O. Eli and Wallace aren't capable of playing every down. We basically don't have a single OL who is above average. Vaughters brings nothing, can't even hold his position so the RB has to run around him like a pylon...at least that would give the rest of the D a chance to flow to the ball. Jake Kelly and Vaval are total marks if they are on the field on D. Athletes who have no ******* clue what they are doing. That's not even getting to the injury list or talking about Bryant and Jefferson who are not even 1/10th of what they were. This is a bad team. The fixation on Jake Thomas as if replacing him makes some kind of difference in winning and losing is nuts.
-
The main point is that the team isn't good enough. Using Thomas as a focal point for that is nuts. Our OL is a mess, we have probably 2 CFL level receivers dressed, our backup QB's are borderline useless as passers and football players currently (Streveler obviously a weapon pre knee explosion), we have basically no difference makers on D aside from Nichols, Holm, Kramdi. Jones is an average MAC. Griffin is a piece, doesn't take the ball away. Nichols doesn't really either. But yeah, Jake Thomas and 50 of his best buds....horrible team.
-
Thomas isn't in the top 10 worst players on this team regardless of nationality. He's just an easy target to make a point because he's an old, white Canadian guy with his gut hanging out. Vaval playing every down at corner as a total mark for opposing offense is a way bigger problem in terms of winning and losing. We get Sask on their own 1, two plays at Vaval and they're 85 yards down the field. I wish Jake Thomas was the worst player on this team because we'd be in contention then.
-
Danny McManus really should have been gone after 2023. They have struggled to back fill Americans since 2022 aside from a small group who are CFL quality players.
-
But you get into a froth about that. What is Jefferson doing? What is Vaughters doing? What is Kyrie Wilson doing? Thomas is basically a gap filler that sticks on his assignment. Worrying about the 20th, 25th, 43rd player on the roster when our top 10-15 guys are outclassed on a weekly basis is missing the forest for the trees. This is a bad team because those top guys do not deliver and do not exist in areas like receiving corps, LB corps, Canadian OL we have are terrible.
