  1. If we could get Medlock for 100k just to placekick and have FMB punt that would be a good deal IMO.
  2. How is Spooner a free agent? We just drafted him.
  3. I’d rather keep Reilly in the pocket and give him different looks downfield. Why waste guys who can’t tackle him anyway and let him make plays scrambling?
  4. Now the other problem...does he have anyone to throw to?
  5. Thinking more the opposite. Standing on the sidelines is horrible for a soft tissue injury.
  6. It's not that black and white. I'm sure Nichols is getting a ton of treatment and it's going to come down to how loose he is and how well he can move on Sunday. They also haven't said Nichols is starting. Plus there's never a guarantee. Many things can happen any week that could cause any player to miss a game, playoffs or not.
  7. And if Nichols is out we shouldn’t be pocket passing anyway. Play 6 OL, 7 sometimes, Normand, run read option all day and force the DL to figure out where the ball is. Use all the backs, use LeFevour, use receivers on sweeps and to block, throw the odd time on a rollout. Play ball control, give the D a chance and see if Edmonton has the physical ability to play with our OL and backs.
  8. They should be prepping run heavy in case Nichols goes out as well. Edmonton is not really built to handle a heavy run game either.
  9. Practice in general is going to be pretty light given the circumstances. They’ll be doing more work inside both physically and mentally. Real high chance to get injured in cold, save it up for Sunday.
  10. 40% run to pass in that game and over a third of those run plays came when they were up by 2 TD's. Gable isn't taking them anywhere. Riders will have Richardson, Thigpen and LaFrance taking carries in Ottawa next week, plus Bridge taking 15 yards at a time. I'll take my chances with Reilly's arm. He's had one good playoff and choked every other year. As long as the Bombers O doesn't turn it over they have a great shot vs Eskies in -10.
  11. Looks like a bigger idiot in the whole outfit. At least O'Shea can pull off the hoody no jacket look in the cold without looking like his nuts are in his throat.
  12. Sask takes a ton of stupid penalties. That's about the only thing that might separate them as a better matchup for anyone in the playoffs. I'd rather face Edmonton's OL and reliance on Reilly's arm.
  13. It is extremely hard to pass the colder it gets. They don’t have much in the backfield and Reilly is much less willing to run than he was a few years ago. I don’t see Edmonton coming up with a great game plan for the weather, not snow but freezing cold. Sask in recent weeks is showing what they are going to do with Bridge and Richardson. They will run option/zone read and will be ready for freezing temperatures. It’ll be a defensive battle. I like our chances a lot more vs Edmonton.
  14. I’d much rather face Edmonton in minus 10 weather.
  15. When it snows or even if it rains quite a bit this generation of turf can fill with the moisture. It’s not like real grass because there isn’t anything under it to absorb moisture naturally. There’s nothing for cleats to grab into once the space between the fibres is packed with moisture. They’ll be wearing 3/4 or one inch cleats if there’s a light layer of snow. If it’s packed they’ll probably be wearing their shortest cleats because there won’t be anything to grab into. Assuming the grounds crew will be working on clearing the field basically until warmup and then afterwards until the game starts the only accumulation should be during play. Many of the NFL fields are heated in the northern cities but not in Canada! Best to move fast in straight lines in these types of conditions.
  16. Matthews was a different regime and Givens doesn’t even have 100 yards in 2 games. It has been pathetic. They need better US scouting. Haven’t found more than a handful of difference makers. Leggett, Jeffcoat, maybe Santos-Knox, Bond.
  17. I’m not. Very different personalities. Glenn has made piece with where he’s at in his career. Durant is a toxic diva.
  18. No country would accept a rule that restricts the number of their citizens who can work in any business. You could only have a rule that restricts imports like the CFL does. Imports in the US would be any non-American, thus rosters that are entirely American.
  19. Definitely butt. There's not really a scenario where a 10th team grows revenue enough to positively impact existing teams aside from an exorbitant expansion fee that someone owning a team in a tiny market probably wouldn't be willing to pay. Even if tv viewership in the maritimes went up significantly you're talking tens of thousands more eyeballs not a million. The happiest person would be the schedule maker.
  20. To me this is absurd and shows that Ambrosie might be a bit out of touch, a big idea guy more than an effective leader and manager. Sure grow the game. That has to be priority for a commissioner. At this point you have 3 major markets struggling pretty badly (Toronto, BC, Montreal). This is not a time for expansion and all that comes with it. There's a lot of growth that needs to happen in existing markets. On top of that, expansion to the maritimes is even more absurd. No venue, no owner, teeny tiny markets, little interest. They shouldn't spend 5 seconds on this until a legitimate owner/government steps up with a legitimate stadium proposal and a bond to operate a team, in any potential market.
  21. You can’t have guys “signed” and not have them on your roster.
  22. Never heard of a futures contract in the CFL. Probably more like an open-ended verbal agreement with no guarantee to either side...”we’d like to have you in training camp next year” “ok, sounds good.” Like Tori Gurley’s 2017 contract.
  23. What I mean is that is his problem. He’s not going to keep a job because of kicks he made 8 weeks ago or last season. It’s not a reason to keep a player.
  24. And when your job is literally one specific thing that’s a career killer. He’s not here for his punting, that’s for damn sure. He needs to score lots of points to make that paycheque worthwhile.
