Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)
JuranBoldenRules replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It’s pretty abnormal for a good team to add guys to the 44/46 this late in the season unless they had the guy before and they are coming back from the NFL. Usually it’s the teams in crisis making trades, Hamilton, Edmonton etc. I wouldn’t mind a move on a receiver or DL though, particularly non-imports. -
Roberts was a CFL all-star every season he was a starting running back and the top special teams player in the league in his rookie year. He averaged 2000 all purpose yards for an entire career. Harris isn’t even close to that kind of production. His best season prior to 2017 was 1830.
-
Roberts no question. And aside from missing a flight as a rookie he never really had any issues that affected the team. Teammates loved the guy. And he was a decent receiver. Offenses are way different now. Harris would take Roberts over himself guaranteed.

3 stars + HH deadmonton edition

That one and the Adams TD both solid examples of why the eye in the sky needs to be able to alert the refs on the field without teams having to challenge. Just imagine if they didn't rule Adams catch a TD on the field. No way to review that. Either let the command center buzz in or let coaches keep their challenge so long as they keep winning them. -
Montreal winning that one would be so amazing. Gotta wonder how hot Maas' seat is. Are they just going to lose their way from 7-0 to 5th in the West or try to light a fire there by firing him.
-
And Lions. Bit more complicated scenario with playing them twice (simple win the damn games I guess) but basically magic number of two for them as well.

The 15 yard no yards was egregious too. Not even close. -

Nichols for continuing to protect the ball. Big difference in the outcome of the game. Harris for soldiering through pain and grabbing first downs when the whole stadium knows he's getting the ball. Entire linebacking crew were wreckers tonight. Covering the field and all over Reilly when they blitzed. HH to Fogg for the slow motion punt returns that are very productive. -
Big win. And could have been much bigger, 9 points Medlock left out there (granted one was from midfield) and a TD bomb Denmark dropped. Easily could have scored another 15.
-
DBs played Edmonton receivers a lot more aggressively and it seemed like the Edmonton receivers were stunned to a certain extent. Like they thought the game would be a lot easier for them.

Would be expensive but it's a choice. Buy it or risk life without it. That's where the education piece comes in for the PA. -

WCB doesn't cover anything long term. It exists to cover short-term issues and loss of work for brief periods. WCB would have dropped Hefney faster than the coverage the CFL and CFLPA provides. Long-term disability does exist but it's only available to residents of Canada. This to me is an issue of education and something the CFLPA has to be on top of. You can only carry so much insurance. They should be offering their members additional injury and disability insurance for post-career that they can pay for while they play, especially for Americans. -

The CFL is really lucky all these cases are Americans. If they barred a Canadian with no conviction from plying their trade they would be sued like there is no tomorrow. Americans have no grounds to work in Canada so have no standing in court until they are permanent residents at least. -
We're talking peanuts. Like $30,000-$35,000 per team would give the PR guys $1000 a week as a minimum.
-
Fogg is way better on punts and more reliable too. Lankford was an adventure. Aside from a couple kickoffs early in the season where he got a clean up the sideline he hasn't broken any big ones in months. To me it's a big waste of an import spot. Sure he's fast, he's the only receiver we've had in the last two seasons who hasn't been able to get into sync with Nichols. Where's Thomas Mayo? I'd argue we need a possession receiver like Thorpe or Mayo in this offence far more than a guy who runs fast in a straight line and can't do much else effectively at this level like Lankford or McDuffie. Could also be using that import spot on D.

Who has the better team: Calgary or Winnipeg?

Not sure about West playoffs...to me the bottom 3 is turning into a bit of a turtle race, could see any combo of them 3-4-5. -
Game day thread: Ottawa QuarterBLACKS vs Bomber BYES

Wow. Never thought about it that way. All of a sudden every single 28 year old rookie CFL QB looks a lot better. -

Kinda goes against him either way. Guess INT is looked at more. -
They get 18 cheques. One per game week. Practice roster starts week 1 and ends once team is out of playoffs. 18x750 would be salary plus some allowances, so around $15,000 if someone spent the whole year on the PR.
-
Poop would take Ekakatie off.
-
Less than $15,000 per year.
-
They had availability the next day. Wiecek is basically saying "wah wah I can't do my job" admitting he has no sources. Somehow Lawless didn't have this trouble with the Jets or Bombers/CFL who have had their own in house media for nearly a decade. Wiecek needs to do his job better. Lazy.
-
The traditional media has no less access. Tait is in the same scrums as them. The issue here is lack of skill and laziness by traditional media.

Hoping it's a hang around town re-sign next week kind of move. But he would be a nice add for a team like BC or Calgary who are somewhat lacking in possession YAC guys.
