  1. If they are throwing deep that bodes well for our turnover count. I'm more worried about Johnson and defending the slip screens they like to run against zone.
  2. Rightfully so. It's been BS from day one. Tens of millions below cost. The mortgage keeps growing because they keep running into more trouble and requiring more financing, not actually making payments on the big chunk. Fact is we were lied to by the previous government, Asper and previous Blue Bomber administrators. They low balled the cost to get approved and the taxpayer will end up paying for it. Do I care about that? No I don't. It was necessary, the stadium. The lying should really result in people locked up, and not just for this project. The development/construction industry and politicians of the 00s and early 10s pulled a lot of cons on us.
  3. That is not unique to the CFL, particularly on special teams plays. I'm always looking for flags.
  4. I don't think they would have overturned it. Does it happen 20 times a game and only get called a few times? Yes. Is it a penalty? Yes. You can't block in the back. It's literally the first thing you are taught when you're 8 years old in full pads for the first time, much like checking from behind in hockey. Even though Miller cut in front of Noel that doesn't mean he can coast through him. It's on him. I'm also not so sure about the "he was gone" argument because he still had one more cut to make from the sideline in and potentially could have been caught. Personally I don't like those calls. They are so inconsistent on blocking penalties on returns.
  5. Disagree. With Lulay's shoulder issues any pass over 5 yards is a risk. He is going to turn the ball over a ton. Decent amount of luck against a discombobulated D in Hamilton and still had some big turnovers.
  6. You would need way more than 2 crews. If you think they are bad now you think they'll be better fatigued? Plus full timers would need salaries in the high 5 figures, maybe even low 6. Most of them right now are police officers, lawyers, teachers, insurance brokers etc. They aren't giving up their actual careers for $50,000 a year.
  7. Exactly. TSN is already giving Ottawa the out and Ottawa is already whining about it. But it happens to everyone, the Bombers just had a short week, and the Eastern teams have minimal travel. Ottawa isn't leaving their time zone and they have an hour of travel to Toronto. IMO the team with the "two in one week" schedule should always be an eastern team unless it is a Western team given three consecutive home games.
  8. Lulay almost picked, hits a flukey completion on a floater he overthrew his intended receiver by 10 yards and falls into Nick Moore, then picked on the convert. I feel like Hamilton's D is going to score some point tonight.
  9. Our D plays a lot of zone, but it's not lacking aggression in play calls. Tons of blitzes, at times that's what burns them when an entire side of the field has one guy on it and the opposition executes a good release to beat the blitz. Also play a lot with no traditional safety and Cover 2 with Loffler in the box which is a pretty aggressive coverage shell in this day and age of passing football.
  10. BC's OL sucks something awful. Great opportunity for our D next week.
  11. Reilly getting his receivers killed tonight, and taking a ton of shots too.
  12. Randle blew contain on the punt, he came way inside as the ball bounced around when he should have stayed outside to force Jackson inside. Once Jackson got to the sideline it was a damn scramble.
  13. I think they need to incorporate some kind of read option package for the Fever. This offence is going to earn every yard and that change of pace could be huge, particularly when there is a struggle just to get decent first down yardage. I notice they are running a bit of it no huddle after 3rd down conversions on the 1st down play. Fever's legs combined with the fact he has a decent arm make him a weapon in short bursts.
  14. Toth is brutal. Westwood' delivery isn't great but at least there is a shred of intellect there. Toth started talking about the penalty in the 14 Grey Cup on Hamilton equating it as a blown call with the one last night, but that one for sure was a penalty. And then Westwood says that and then Toth says I know. So what are you saying then? It goes round and round. I usually can't make it through a full segment of that crew since Toth joined.
  15. I have no idea how they are tallying pressures live. Our list seemed horribly inaccurate last night. I believe they gave a couple of Jeffcoat's to Westerman. Wonder if they will adjust as the statistician watches film.
  16. And Ray's passes. Throwing knucklers, maybe he can start for the Jays.
  17. Knox got eaten up by Coombs and Whitaker in coverage. They blitzed him a ton and that worked.
  18. Same issue for Nichols. One pretty good half, one pretty bad half, but at least no big screw ups.
  19. Heath and Randle were huge. Leggett had some big plays in coverage. Great combo of coverage and pressure forced a lot of double clutches by Ray and a lot of bad throws/drops.
  20. What channel is the national broadcast on? I can only find the local Argos feed.
  21. Good ball skills, struggles with when to jump routes and when to make a tackle. Not a very sure tackler, big hitter.
  22. I truly doubt that they are drawing up plays with Westerman taking an inside move as much as he is and leaving the edge completely exposed. It's just selfish play, and to nobodies benefit because he's not getting to the QB at all. The game is to collapse the pocket with the QB in it. If you give the QB an entire side of the pocket open to escape it nullifies what Poop and Nevis can do. The Bombers need Westerman to play disciplined, otherwise I expect we'll continue to see more of Corney.
  23. Maybe you've discovered that there's no such position as defensive halfback in American football.
  24. Not enough ambulances left to handle the shock trauma when the guy stands too close and sets it off.
  25. The scary part of losing Wild is losing his role in pass coverage. He often plays a deep half as a safety (cover 2) and they do a lot of shifting of positions between Wild, Leggett and Loffler. I don't believe Knox is quite as experienced with coverages, he's more a straight up LB. Expect to see him blitzing a lot.
