  1. Adidas logo was as big as the Rider logo on the shirt Jones was wearing. They actually have spotters from the sponsor companies, clothing, sports drinks and otherwise who inspect the teams and their sidelines prior and during the game to make sure they are complying with agreements.
  2. That's insane. Trying to appease Ovechkin? Just an insane deal for a relatively inconsistent player.
  3. What if you give up 2 and the other team starts on your side of the field anyway? It's pretty likely kicking off from your own 25. I'd rather give up 7 than 9. That's all. Sometimes the other team scores and you have a chance to get it back and reset field position too. Giving up the safety is just unnecessary in moderate conditions.
  4. Kickoff comes from their own 25. Good kickoff means return starts at the 20-25. Kickoff returns average around 20 yards. Only way you're pinning them on their own 20 is if the returner flubs it. Otherwise you're looking at the offence coming on at their own 45 if coverage is good.
  5. 2 points isn't worth 15-20 yards with the other team still having the ball. You're still likely to cost yourself more points.
  6. Give up 2 and they likely start between their own 45 and midfield. Giving up safeties isn't smart anymore unless there's a big wind.
  7. Why would they spy Glenn? You shouldn't need more than the DL to manage Glenn's running. I'm a little concerned that between Loffler and Leggett they've adopted a playmaker mentality and they've kind of slacked on doing their duty down after down. Noticed it toward the end of last season too. They can do some spectacular things though. Loffler isn't really playing as a traditional safety. He's more playing up in the box like a WIL. Leggett plays quite a bit of safety but likes to roam into the box too. Our D is doing a little too much chasing and not enough coming downhill at the ball/guys with the ball.
  8. Felt the opposite about the offense. They needed to control the clock and kept pushing dangerously downfield with the pass, ineffectively too. Get a run game going so we don't have to even get that game near OT. 4th quarter should have been a hell of a lot easier.
  9. We need better play in coverage at the top of routes, from our three guys that tend to be dropping into deep halves, Loffler, Leggett, Wild. I felt that both of our halfbacks had very little support in the middle of the field and behind them when we played man.
  10. They were moving the launch point. Just looked different because the camera angle was like 30 degrees to the line of scrimmage. They started doing a lot of quarter rolls when the Riders started sending a lot of pressure right up the middle.
  11. Yes, threw for 300 yards in basically a half. What's going to happen when our offence is actually in rhythm?
  12. Between him and Nichols they did not do a good job of picking up pressure and making the right protection calls a few times. Thought our OL on the whole was good.
  13. Good push, poor discipline. Way too easy for Glenn to step up and step out of the pocket, this probably accounted for 3/4 of their passing yards. Contain was the big issue. Not happy with that game from the ends. Thought the push up the middle was great, POOP, Nevis and Thomas. Didn't see Ekakitie on the field.
  14. 4th quarter is where we really could have used Flanders. Everytime Harris got the rock it was a 7-8 yard gain. Could have just stomped on their throats and fed the backs. Should have done more of that early too let the offence settle. For the most part my feeling on Lapo hasn't changed in 15 years. He should call his 2nd down play on first down. Way too many 2nd and longs last night.
  15. Some tough circumstances though and found a way. Not too worried about Calgary's D.
  16. Probably lives in the Ramada.
  17. Loffler had some struggles in coverage, but he's kind of playing a hybrid WIL/SAM/S with Wild and Leggett.
  18. Concerning from last season the lack of bodies in the middle of the field at times downfield. Like the Roosevelt TD. Makes it way too easy. Shorter more direct throws obviously easier to place. Force QB's to make longer throws against the sideline. If you're going to leave gaps anywhere, make it toward the sideline.
  19. Mike Miller 5 special teams tackles.
  20. Didn't like our coverage on either of those. Not sure if Wild F'd up on the 2nd one but we had no one in the middle, Carmichael in man playing outside shade taking the outside route with Wild over top a step to the outside playing a cover 2 type safety. Receiver takes a stride inside and he's all alone. Someone completely F'd that up or it was a bad call by Hall. Wouldn't blame Carmichael necessarily.
  21. Hurl snuffed out a ton of screens by being on the right side of the ball and taking on blocks, only a couple tackles on them but huge plays that Bass really struggled with last season just chasing the ball and not playing the position on defense to be sure the guy gets on the turf by anyone wearing blue and gold.
  22. Wasn't impressed with our ends. Poor discipline. They took dumb penalties and kept taking inside routes to the pocket giving Glenn way too easy lanes to escape and make plays. Need to let the interior and blitzers do their work, stay wide and collapse the pocket. Brutal game from the ends IMO. Sask's whole offence was Glenn getting out of the pocket to escape pressure, time after time.
  23. Myers, Enstrom, Perreault, Matthias, Little, Laine, Ehlers, Trouba. There's $30 million tied up in those guys right now including bonuses for cap number for the ELC guys. I think that's enough money (plus open cap space) to manage the extensions for the guys they want to keep from that group and fill the spots of the guys they want to replace with internal options on ELC's and some UFA/trade options. They are in decent shape. As good as you can be putting together a decent roster in the cap system.
  24. I think they will be alright. Kulikov replaces Enstrom. Chiarot, Poolman, Niku, bargain signing for 3rd pair next summer. Sign Trouba and Ehlers. Look at moving Perreault with Connor/Roslovic coming through to replace him. Depending on what happens with Myers this season he's a trade/buyout candidate next off-season too. Little is a minor raise IMO with term, like 5x5.5 or something like that.
  25. BMO is an even worse location than the dome. Said it from the beginning. I think at some point if the league cares they are going to have to put up money to get the Argos a decent, cheap stadium, something like Tim Hortons Field, in the suburbs.
