  1. It's hard to understand? The WFC operate a stadium that has about 350 open dates per year. They need to fill dates and make money. They aren't just a football club, they are operating a facility.
  2. Most of the guys picked after the first 3 rounds are camp bodies who might get on a PR and be able to work themselves onto a roster in a matter of years. They don't need roster spots for them.
  3. I think you're reading the comment the wrong way. They can draft two players in the first round, but they need to be players because they are getting paid based on their draft slot not their actual value to a CFL roster in recent years. They aren't drafting someone to sit on IR all year to get seasoned. I don't believe they would trade picks for players because there isn't really any room on the roster, unless a completely unreasonable trade comes along that is an upgrade. More likely they'd trade for future picks.
  4. That "turf" at IGF is going to be better than any grass field here. They won't spend the amount they would need to maintain a nice grass field here. Remember how horrible the field was at Waverley when they tried to play soccer here before, both pro and CMNT? Grass and soccer season don't really mix here.
  5. Interesting that everyone has decided that Canadians don't play receiver anymore. The receiver rankings are based more on what they think they can provide on special teams.
  6. Because it's second tier North American pro soccer. The players won't get paid enough to afford KD.
  7. He's a 330 pound nose tackle...a position that doesn't exist in the CFL, he's a priority UDFA and he apparently doesn't have much interest in the CFL.
  8. He absolutely needs refinement. He didn't really show any moves that could get past CFLers. I really didn't like his pad level last year. He was nearly completely upright after his first step. That's not explosion. He almost never gained ground. Butcher looked like a guy who is way stronger and more athletic than anyone he plays against in college. Not so easy against pros. Based on his strengths in terms of athleticism for his size and strength he might be a better fit in the CFL on offense.
  9. Kelly Moore, Shadoe Davis. That morning show is rough. Shadoe just tries to bring this everyman point of view to hard news and it's pretty hard to listen to because he can be kind of ignorant on details. We don't really have any solid news talk in this city.
  10. Good luck to him. They don't have a lot of currency to get into the top 5, which is probably where they need to get to ensure getting Bladek.
  11. I didn't see him play this year (2016). I bet he had a good year. He's a pretty good athlete at his size, certainly better than most in the OUA, but out of the guys he's competing against there he may have faced a half-dozen CFL calibre guys. It's a big jump and he certainly wasn't close to ready last time we saw him.
  12. Disagree about last training camp. He eats space, but doesn't get off the line. He's got a long way to go to be a reasonable option.
  13. Butcher doesn't factor into it for me. With him I'm more interested to see which side of the line they have him working on once camp opens. If he even gets on a game roster this season (barring absurd rash of injuries) I would be shocked.
  14. If Ekakitie is our best option I'd trade the pick. We need someone who can play DL this year, but I just don't like the value. I think there are better options later on who are similar value and ultimately will be cheaper too.
  15. Seconded. He basically just has all the teams picking guys who played CIS nearby. I don't think he has any actual insider information to go off of, which makes him kind of useless as an analyst for a draft.
  16. I think they might try to trade down and add 1st or 2nd round picks next year, even with the 1st pick. This draft class is just kinda blah, decent players but nothing too great and not a lot of roster space at this time either. Could take a futures pick though.
  17. Dondre Wright strikes me more as a WIL/SAM maybe safety. I don't think he'll be available at 6, Sask or BC or Edmonton will take him.
  18. Lawless is a hell of a reporter but his opinions are pretty uninteresting and driven by phony narratives he needs to support. I've found him fairly lazy in doing actual knowledgeable reporting and writing since he left the Freep. I'm excited to see what some of the next generation of reporters can do both locally and in the national CFL beat. Bauming in particular is quite good but likely more in line to be Bob Irving's successor. Had to check the calendar to make sure it wasn't April 1.
  19. Dollars to donuts he has a huge bonus due when he shows up to camp. Literally had his knee obliterated, let the Argos take that on.
  20. Right down Portage and Main is referring to a pitch over the plate, not a home run.
  21. Holy **** that guy is deluded.
  22. They actually have power and influence. They have a functional role in focusing their BOGs and subsequently their staff in the sport side and business side. If the CFL commissioner says BOO he's replaced. I'm no fan of Orridge but the position is an absolute joke and pretty much has been for 20 years.
  23. How does someone like Glen Johnson even have the balls to think he'd be a good candidate?
  24. Well if that's the case why not hire Darren Cameron. It's a joke. They have a PR department. Any number of league officials and reps can talk to the media.
