  1. Except for an entire university campus including a 33000 seat stadium with event space, a 2500 seat gym and a field house.
  2. I thought the camera work was all right. The venues where the CFL Combine has/would be held aren't really conducive to NFL Combine or CFL game type production values. Perhaps they can have it in a full sized domed stadium (BC Place) at some point.
  3. "Top DL move into the league quickly."
  4. There hasn't been a DL drafted in the last 3 years who has started a game outside of the last two horrible Saskatchewan teams.
  5. Every pick is a "wild card." There's no position that has a better success rate in terms of players career length. There are no "right picks" by position. That's lunacy. If you are drafting based on trying to map some kind of trend, you are going to lose. You have to evaluate each player and draft in isolation.
  6. Both of those things have zero relevance to this draft and the players available. Should the Oilers have passed on McDavid because they flubbed forward picks and needed defensemen? Not saying Vandervoort is McDavid but their evaluation of him will have nothing to do with Chris Bauman, Brian Jones, Kito Poblah or Jade Etienne.
  7. I don't see Jones and Vandervoort as comparable really. Vandervoort stepped into the OUA at 18 and played at a level Jones never reached, even in a historically bad conference, the AUS. Jones dominated physical testing. Vandervoort dominated the football drills as expected. Both have a high ceiling, Vandervoort is significantly closer to reaching his.
  8. Why would you want to? He can play receiver and come in the block as necessary much like many guys playing receiver currently do. I think Dondre Wright could go really early. Honestly wouldn't be a bad pick for us given how we are deploying the ratio in the coming years with more guys on D. I think Saskatchewan or BC would take him for sure in the 1st.
  9. He looked slow as hell today, even on the interior drill he was getting beat clean by guys that won't make it through a CFL training camp. I wouldn't want to see what Almondo Sewell or Drake Nevis would do to him.
  10. I like Bladek too. Probably the most ready to play in 2017 too in terms of ability and NFL/school considerations. Take a receiver or DL at 6.
  11. The only impressive thing about Woods was his size. Really struggled against a bunch of DL who tested fairly slow and most of whom won't play in the CFL. IMO a bunch of the CIS guys are better and should go ahead of him. Woods feet are too damn slow. Spooner, Schram, Roy did all right. Zver is an athlete who will need some work, Gray is way ahead of the pack now IMO. Only guys I'd consider with our firsts are Gray and Bladek. The rest are pretty meh and at least a couple will be there at 15.
  12. Lateral movement looked pretty bad for Herdman and these are guys that likely will never see the field on offence (or at all) in the CFL he was up against. Not so concerned about the testing the numbers the 1on1's were concerning though. Pretty big drop off in just a couple months since the Senior Bowl. I don't think I'd take him with either of our firsts. He's going to have to play in space and cover in the CFL regardless of where he plays unless he keeps eating and moves to nose.
  13. Vandevoort turning the DBs inside out in 1on1's.
  14. The NCAA recruits Southern Ontario and Quebec hard, particularly for OL-DL types because they project a little easier than "skill position" guys and the athletic guys with that body type are few and far between. Not surprised we're seeing that trickle down to the CFL Draft.
  15. His vertical was all right, nothing special but at least showing decent explosion for a DE. I think he's overrated at 6' or 6'5.
  16. Plus Maher is a brutal kickoff and punt guy in terms of placement. Cost them a ton of yards in penalties. A metric of WAR for kickers factoring in all aspects (FG, Punt, Kickoff) would be more relevant. Not many teams are going to consistently roster an American to just kick FGs. That stat Taylor is talking about rewards consistency but also can be skewed by kick distance. For instance, Paredes is only on there once and he's extremely consistent, but doesn't kick as many from distance because he doesn't have to.
  17. Money? Injury concerns? The fact that they'd have to win a job and likely wouldn't start on the game roster.
  18. And when they decide they are sick of it the other teams (league) will pay.
  19. Couple beat reporters trying to speculate that Young is getting a reasonable deal, but consider he's got a six figure job paying USD at U of T. He's gotta be getting close to that upfront just to show up.
  20. His own agent says Vince Young is nowhere near "football shape." What a joke. How much are they giving him upfront?
  21. Why? Lynch wasnt even a QB. Wildcat specialist. I don't know how that relates to Franklin. I bet they groom Franklin and deal Reilly unless Franklin gets a NFL shot.
  22. Ankou is as much of a NFL prospect as anyone in the draft and playing a position that doesn't even exist in the CFL, the 330 lb nose tackle. He'd need to shed a bunch of weight and he's likely to do the opposite for a shot in the NFL at nose. I think he's going to fall into the 2nd or 3rd round.
  23. They don't have a QB. The "cap space" thing is kind of a joke anyway because how it's done in the CFL everyone pretty much has the same amount until a game is played and then it gets interesting, unless a bunch of money has been deferred from the past seasons which is mostly a Taman and Jim Popp philosophy.
  24. Keep reading 3DownNation and telling me what I don't know.
