  1. The line play is horrendous and that's pretty much universal. Hard to develop QBs in that situation. The expanded rosters have allowed teams to expand their DL rotations all the while most teams are still trying to pigeonhole NI's on the OL even if the supply of guys who can play at even at adequate level is not enough. The first team to just play Canadians where they are deserving and forgot the "we need at least 3 NI OL" mindset will be the next dynasty.
  2. Medlock needs to make his kicks. Game is over after 3 if he does.
  3. This rule is going to be an absolute gong show. I feel bad for the officials who have to justify calls either way to coaches. It's going to be an absolute mess.
  4. This game is absolutely huge. The Bombers have got their collective asses kicked the past two weeks, almost laughably. I personally can't recall a Bomber team with reasonable expectations that came out of the gates to start a season and literally face planted in the first 2 weeks like this. They need to prove to themselves this week that what happened in those two games is not what they are as a team. And they get the challenge of Hamilton, probably the closest thing to a physically dominant team that there is currently. If this game is a repeat of the first 2, I think we see a few pretty significant roster changes, like vets who are maybe coasting a bit or otherwise not performing watching week 4 in street clothes on the 1 game IR.
  5. Why? If you could bullrush the guy blocking you on his ass every play that would be the most effective way to disrupt an offense. Doesn't matter where you are lined up. The bullrush allows the rusher to stay in his gap and close in the pocket tighter on the QB whether he gets completely free or not. That is much preferred to speed rushing around the edge or ripping/spinning in or out which gives the QB lanes to escape the pressure.
  6. It's not that hard to spot if you're watching the game and understand coverages. Montreal slipped into prevent (basically giving away first downs, hoping to prevent big plays, quick scores, dropping 4 guys into deep quarters zone defense) when they got up 3 scores on the Bombers in the 3rd quarter in week 1. That would be typical of most teams.
  7. Agree fully. Forget being run over, he flat out whiffed on a number of what should be routine tackles for a CFL LB.
  8. Goossen is awful IMO and it's getting to the point where you wonder if it ever clicks. He has to think way too much to find a block and by the time he does it's often too late. Needs to be quick and decisive. He also routinely gets his ass handed to him 1 on 1. He wouldn't be on my list.
  9. You can't really run a season-long training camp if you want to have a chance to win.
  10. I can almost guarantee that the team who scores the most points will win the game.
  11. Canadian football games have to end with a play. If time is blown in with 19 seconds or less left in a quarter the team with the ball can run a play even if the clock hits 0:00 before the ball is snapped.
  12. You gotta start questioning coaching/development. A guy like Neufeld had to be dropped before last season. Play Americans if you have to. Would you rather have what's happening tonight or have an extra Canadian on D, another one at receiver and have a OL that can actually do it's job?
  13. No kidding. If you have 2-3 guys on the OL getting their ass kicked play after play it doesn't really matter who else is on the field or who is calling the plays/what plays are called. You just can't do anything, and especially with any level of consistency.
  14. I'd be shocked if the Bombers are able to win more than 8 games with that OL.
  15. Castillo is a 80% FG kicker who can punt a bit. Maher is a crappy FG kicker with a big leg and a great punter. They are the same guy with inverse strengths. Neither have value because of their passport and the supply of guys like them, flawed American kickers.
  16. How many kicks did Castillo miss this preseason? I don't think he's the "asset" some of you guys do. He's good, but there's no shortage of guys like him.
  17. Be ready to attack when Willy gets asked about not scoring enough points. Same damn thing man. Wylie took the question as an affront. He simply could have talked about what they have done to improve, adding new guys and having more time together, whatever. He chose his response, and it's a little embarrassing tbh. We all know the media is stupid and not looking for in-depth information. Don't think it looks good on anyone to react like that to a pretty basic question.
  18. Rush is working on long snapping too. I bet he ends up bouncing around for a few years if he wants to.
  19. It's a reasonable question. As reasonable as asking the OC about the number of TD's or points scored or asking the QB coach about the number of TD passes thrown. There are a lot of variables involved with all stats in pretty much every sport. But like someone already said, this is exactly why having press availablity for assistants is dumb. The media and the coaches can't handle it well enough to have anything meaningful come of it. It'll just end up being a backbiting session, trying to play offense vs defense, position groups against each other in the blame game.
  20. Chris Walby converted from DL to OL midseason during a game? Edmonton and Calgary both won games last season with Eddie Steele and Quinn Smith playing offensive line.
  21. Calgary literally had DL playing OL last season, among a crew of rookies and very young players with no huge pedigree (Bergman, Wilson etc). I know we love Bob Wylie, but the excuses are getting pretty thick. He hasn't had a lot to work with here, realistically he still doesn't.
  22. And realistically they need to throw the ratio out of the window when it comes to OL. I'd much rather have Feoli-Gudino on the field than Darvin Adams if it means Willy actually has a chance to get his eyes downfield and make a read. Many games last season (particularly against Edmonton and Hamilton) where he literally couldn't get his eyes downfield at all because Picard and Neufeld blocked no one. Our "starting" OL configuration was by far the worst of the groups we saw in the 2 pre-season games.
