There are hundreds if not thousands of disenfranchised first and second generation Canadian youth who pose a much bigger threat to our "security" in the near term in terms of being radicalized than refugees arriving in the coming months, along with some disenfranchised "Canadian" youth. These are the people perpetrating the ISIS attacks in the West. To me, the argument against taking refugees should have more to do with the fact that they are coming here to a place with very little economic opportunity for them, which often leads to the disconnect with the rest of society. There aren't a lot of radicalized individuals who were well educated people who left good jobs in the west to join the Jihad. They are almost always unemployed with justice system involvement. This thought is always trumped by the immediate safety concerns for the refugees. If proper resources and opportunities aren't in place, we're just setting the trap for 20 years down the line.

Agreed. Another Ricky Ray stinker. Good statline, couldn't score enough points. The story of his career beyond 2003.

The rule is beyond stupid regardless of the reasoning. Just make kicking the ball when it's dead a penalty for the safety of everyone.

Here's something to think about. Our last game, Stala boots the ball in the stands, no flag. Grant just booted that ball into the stands, no flag. Shell boots the ball into the air, not even the stands after an INT, flag. WTF is that?

Looks like Austin can't draw up a gameplan to make a crappy QB look competent either, even against a bottom-feeding D like the Argos. Keep in mind that the Argos made Marve look like he might belong in the CFL.

Someone's gonna get to the East Final without one. IMO the best QB in the division is watching the game from Toronto's sideline.

Getting involved with Police Incidents / Shootings...
JuranBoldenRules replied to Brandon's topic in General Discussion
Speculation for sure, but you wonder if there were some chemicals fueling the depression/rage/behaviour too when you see pictures of the guy. You don't get biceps like that by doing curls. Crappy situation for all involved. -
But youre assuming that because they're on a winning team that they're in a good situation. What if Brady is tired of being in Milanovich's shadow. What if Condell is getting stressed out with Austin yelling at him every time something goes wrong with the offense. What if they're not? What if they are?

Kyle Walters End-Of-Year Presser
JuranBoldenRules replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
He basically said that Brohm was put in tough spots coming in mid game for Willy when he went out and that when he finally got a chance with a week of practice he didn't run with the opportunity, leading to the move for Nichols. Not really a defense of Brohm, more a factual statement of what happened. -
Does any scheme look good when you have 3-4-5 players at a time on either side of the ball flat out losing against the guy across the line? Most people here seem to have more of a hockey brain. Babcock is the best coach in the world, Canadian Olympic coach. He sure makes those Maple Leafs look good with his Cup and Gold Medal winning tactics eh? When you have major roster deficiencies, coaching can only go so far to bridge that gap.

Leggett thinks we need to get tougher meaner
JuranBoldenRules replied to Jpan85's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Fully understand it. If you play crappy Canadians at OL, you don't control the line. You suck, your QB's get killed. We've been proving that for several years now. If you're going to play crappy Canadians, you're better off playing them somewhere else. When a team like Edmonton trades a high pick for a bum like Greaves, you know there's a shortage of NI OL. -
Kyle Walters End-Of-Year Presser

Bombers have the 9th and 10th pick. A little shocking that Walters doesn't know that. Riders 2nd rounder is 9, acquired for Greaves, Bombers finished 8th in the league, their 2nd rounder is next, 10th overall. -

There are 4 DI's now. Most teams are running 7-8 man DL rotations. The supply of NI OL who can manage playing in this league right now is extremely low. If you're trying to build the "ideal" line of 4-5 NI's you better have 3 QBs who can play. That's where the league is today. -

You were right the first time -- it's not "ideally how you do it"....Ideally you use Americans on the line to protect your best asset, and then use your Canadians elsewhere. Even if you had national starters at all those positions, which we don't, you wouldn't be able to pay them all starter money, you end up settling for second rate internationals which is how you end up starting the Greg Peaches of the league, it's economics, you spend your big money on O and D national line men. Your internationals are your skill players and they come cheaper then nationals. Starting NI OL are going for $200,000 on the open market...don't see any relevance in the point you're trying to make. Spend that on a OL, or spend it on a NI DB who can play, what's the difference? Most of the NI skill guys are going for less because everyone is stuck in the rut of trying to play 3-4-5 NI OL all the time. Because you're going to spend it on your lines anyways, national or not, starting linemen command more money than starting DB's or LB's or receivers or running backs. You can't compare a national DB making $200K (which doesn't exist btw) to a starting left tackle. American OL on their first or second contract make more than players at other positions? News to me. The most overpaid players in the league are NI OL and receivers. If you made a list of the top 5 overpaid CFL players, pretty much all of them would fit. Picard, Getzlaf, Fantuz, Durie, Labatte.... -

So they should be conducting the investigation with a Free Press, Sun, Global, CBC, CTV reporter embedded to update the public at every turn? I don't quite get the entitlement. There's a process being followed as there is with any investigation. Way too early to call anyone out. -

Job Vacancy: Special Teams Coordinator
JuranBoldenRules replied to Doublezero's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Dyce has been an interim HC so he's not going to accept a position as a receivers coach or offensive assistant. Apparently he is very good at scouting and evaluating Cdn. talent, so that would be a bonus he could add to the club. Dyce will take whatever job he can get. Former job titles don't pay a mortgage. -
Not anymore than any other coach. His problem is that he's stuck to the form chart so much that he paralyzes himself. You have to take some risks to win. He had his best stint working with Ken Miller who was absolutely insane, polar opposite of him, as a play caller.

Guys who have jobs that they're not likely to leave for a lateral move. Why not just wish for Austin or Hufnagel while we've got our heads in the clouds? Guys who have jobs because other teams want them. That makes them more, not less desirable. It would cost more than picking from the coaches the other teams don't want but that money doesn't come out of the SMS so who cares and they're much more likely to be useful right off the bat. There's lots of reasons one or more might want to take our OC job: Might want to coach where it matters instead of Toronto where they get maybe 10K out to a game. Might want to get out from the shadow of their HC to prove that's not the reason they're good at what they do. Might want to get a direct shot at being an HC sooner than waiting behind their current HC's. They might be able to do that by mid-season next year. Might want more money than they are currently making. Might want to have the Assistant HC title for their resume and O'Shea said he's OK with that. Why not Austin or Hufnagel? Sure if we were replacing O'Shea and Walters, but unfortunately that's not happening. Can we put you down for 5000 season tickets?

I'd like to see Howell get a shot to run special teams. I'd also like to see McManus canned soon. Get in the market for head of US scouting/personnel guy ASAP.

We need better players. Peach is one of the league leaders in UR penalties during his time in the league, doesn't make him a good player or do anything to our opponents. I'll take a guy who can do his job whether he barks at people or shakes their hand after the play. Doesn't matter. The problem is the collective number of guys who are average or worse CFL players, not personalities. -
Bombers Pending Free-Agents List?

And you'd be lucky to get half a season out of him. He's done. -
The Morgan pick isn't as bad as the Richards one. Richards is really coming in as Etienne 2.0 but worse with the concussion history. Don't draft guys who can't play football that early. The guys you are hoping to turn into players need to be late picks.

A convert returned by the defense in Canadian football is always worth 2 points. To the OP, the returner isn't conceding s point on a PAT. If they really cared about what you are talking about on FG's they'd adopt the Football Canada rule of putting the ball on the 20 if the ball is returned out of the end zone.
