I don't see anything wrong with that. It was unsafe to encourage people to be in the streets/congregate, both teams were there, they'd already missed two games that they have to make up in a pretty tight schedule. Is it dumb for a NHL game to happen in a snowstorm when both teams are there? Happened several times this season.

One less Braley team in the league
JuranBoldenRules replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Are you talking about when they played at the Mistake by the Lake? Toronto is extremely different compared to that era too. Unless they get the condo dwellers out to the games the problems won't be much different. Should get some better dates though. -
Thing is that guys don't have to play the same position every snap either. Hall has a pretty long history of interchanging his safety and two outside LB's, think Butler and Brackenridge.

Given next years draft class, about average, the length of the draft and Chapman's NCAA pedigree, it's somewhat baffling that no one thought he was worth a 7th rounder.

Sherman is borderline, Hurl is borderline, Bucknor is 30 (old for a CB), none of the rest have shown they can start. And you forgot Westerman and Thomas. Sherman and Hurl can probably play a role at least. Bucknor is a guy I don't trust, particularly if they crack down on contact by DB's as they have pledged to. He can't cover. IMO, you have a spot for Hurl/Waggoner/Briggs at LB. You have a DB spot, most likely Bucknor or Jones, maybe a little Sherman/Newman (health being a massive question mark) on passing downs as a second safety/blitzer, allowing an all import DL. You have a DL spot for Westerman and Thomas. 3 defensive NI spots with probably at least 5 or 6 guys getting a decent amount of reps if everyone is healthy. I'd love it if we could add a decent DL, Ivan Brown isn't horrible either for a handful of snaps. 4 starters on offence, 3 OL and Kohlert, fair amount of JFG and fullbacks too. Reasonable amount of depth and a fair amount of high ceiling guys.

The fact that good hitters outnumber good pitchers about 10 to 1 is ruining baseball for me.

If I had made travel plans based on coming to a few days of TC (and I've done it before) I'd be pretty cheesed. I think this just shows that the Bombers aren't very connected with their fanbase. BC can get away with holding training camp in Kamloops because no one in Vancouver cares. Winnipeg is different. People care. The fans are passionate. The Bombers seem to just not get that. Even the media doesn't get it. What would you like them to do? Spend a bunch of money for a couple dozen fans? That's usually the amount of people who aren't Bomber employees or people who are supposedly covering the team for local media at the TC practices I've been to other than the opening full practice which they've made into an event in recent years. Let's apply some logic and rational thinking here. Personally, I thought they should have dropped the field turf into University Stadium and used that for local football as there is a huge shortage of adequate facilities. That would have worked out perfectly for Bomber training camp when they can't be in IGF.

How happy are you with Walters' Draft work?
JuranBoldenRules replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Everyone knew he was heading to the Redskins mini-camp. Thing is Waud is pretty low risk to stick long-term in the NFL unless they are going to wait for him to add 50 lbs to play nose. He's not athletic enough to play anywhere else. At 11 Waud would have been a good pick regardless of if he got signed by the Redskins this weekend. With 3 picks in the top 15 a mild risk wouldn't have been a bad move. -
I don't think the Ticats are dealing defensive linemen, and the guys they would trade aren't very good with Gaydosh going down.
-
Running backs come and go. Could be someone other than Cotton. I hope we put the best guy on the field though, don't just keep tossing someone out there who obviously can't do the job.
-
What will they ever do if someone signs a player as an import and he's actually a non-import?

I'll be the first one to tell you that Greaves was awful last season, but trading him given the alternatives right now would be insane. Neufeld is not a good guard and had really only had a handful of good games at any position in his career. Plus he's damaged goods. Goossen has some pep but really struggled on the whole to block anyone at guard. As a backup you can deal with that, but he's a centre, there's no way they are relying on him to play 18 games at guard. Greaves is a tier above Neufeld and not overpaid by about $50,000 a year coming off a career threatening injury.

Ivy League is hard to judge through highlight videos IMO. That whole video looks like it is in slow motion and the QB's are terrible passers. Hopefully they have some intel or are able to work him out.

JuranBoldenRules replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Durant has to be one of the most overrated players in the history of this draft, or at least since people started paying attention to it. I wonder how the Bombers had the receivers ranked. I suspect it was Demski, Harty, Richards, Durant. Wonder if they trade to make a deal with Montreal, Calgary or Ottawa to snag Harty. -
One less Braley team in the league
JuranBoldenRules replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
No it really wasn't. It will take some pretty significant renovations to fit a Canadian football field in there. BMO was about as basic of a soccer stadium as you could have built before the renovations that have already happened. There was a proposal for a multi-purpose stadium at York in the mid-2000s but the fact that the Argos owners had literally no money to operate a football team let alone contribute to a stadium killed that one. The people in Toronto and Ontario have been hoodwinked to maybe even a greater extent than we have been with IGF. What happened to BMO being the national soccer stadium? We're hosting the Women's World Cup and there won't be a single game played at BMO. Fact of the matter is that they bought and paid for a shiny new toy for MLSE, not much else. -
Who is your surprise training camp cut?

I could see him being one of the old "couldn't pass a physical" type cut. -

West being cut would be a major surprise IMO. They are making a concerted effort to add smart, able veteran special teams players. Would be odd if they cut one unless he's hurt. -
RB/FB Christophe Normand (4th round, 33rd overall)
JuranBoldenRules replied to BigBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Should be a reasonable threat as a change of pace in both pass and run game. Runs pretty much upright from the time he gets the ball though. He's gonna get cranked and not have much recoil to stay on his feet when he does. -

Apparently if you translate his name into English it's "Wade Miller." -

Durant is in the mix too, though. Of those three, Durant looks to be the most physical and therefore probably a clutch player. He would be a good fit here. Once he learns how to get open. Demski and Harty already know how. If I'm Calgary, I'd draft a guy like Durant. The Bombers just can't. Harty is a likely bet in the 2nd round. -

Durant is in the mix too, though. Ya, and he's the kind of player Taman and Popp would draft. More sizzle than steak at the moment, all potential. -

I don't see much probability of Demski dropping to 11 now. I think the Als are going to go OL at 4 and take Demski or Shaq, whoever is left at 8. Riders will take one of those two at 6. -
Cory Watson traded again
JuranBoldenRules replied to kelownabomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Long snappers are important, but at any given time there are five guys watching the games on TV teams could call who can do the job. The problem here last year was that they refused to use a roster spot on someone who is simply a long snapper. It's bizarre to trade anything of value for one. -

Increases the probability that the Riders are picking a "skill" guy at 6.
