  1. Ah, the good olds days of summer.... We beat the homeless 1-7 Ticats with LeFevour at the helm. They were just a tad different than the team playing next week. But beating Calgary with Marve was awesome. Ya, they could actually score on offence with LeFevour playing. Wonder where he'll end up. Maybe BC. Don't think the Grey Cup will be a classic, Collaros is just too easy to defend.
  2. We beat both Grey Cup teams...ON THE ROAD!
  3. It's obvious that Reilly wasn't going to have a long term CFL career, but Jones is doing everything he can to expedite that process. Which brings the pocket passers vs. scramblers debate to mind... The best is the intelligent use of a QB scramble who has the pass as the usual first option, but can roll out with the option to pass or run a few times during the game. It seems to me that QBs who see themselves running as at least an equal option every play get beat up real fast. Reilly is particularly risky with the dives for extra yards, especially when he's diving and going to get hit. He can do a lot of running and scrambling without putting his body at risk as he does. Running backs don't toss themselves out prone like that, I'm not sure why some QB's think it's a good idea.
  4. Saskatchewan really should have knocked out Edmonton last week, but Chamblin won the stubbornness staredown and left Joseph in for 5 picks before he put in a QB that at least had a hope of moving the ball.
  5. Both teams had a lot of "hold" that stifled the amount of "push" either DL could get.
  6. Reilly can't throw, power comes from lower body, hard to throw when you can't set your feet and fire. They'd have a better chance of winning this game with Goltz playing QB. Braindead decision by Jones to even let Reilly play.
  7. Willis is such an idiot. Kind of guy you almost want to see blow an ACL.
  8. Reilly looking like he's in really rough shape. If I was calling the D for Calgary I'd sit on the quick game cause it doesn't look like Reilly can throw it more than 20 yards.
  9. Demski is not a great technical receiver, even by CIS standards. He'd have to develop a lot to be a good CFL one. I have a hunch that a number of CFL teams would look to use him as a hybrid RB with some ability as a receiver. I truly don't understand why the Bisons didn't shift him back to tailback at least part-time with Coombs gone. Imagine that team with Demski touching the ball 20 times a game, rather than having to force the ball to him on all those end arounds and plays where he can't get himself going north-south. As rough as Demski looked in the last couple games, he's going to tear apart the combine and that will make him the top "skill" position player IMO. Varga will give him a run, but I think he'll get a decent shot at the NFL as a fullback.
  10. Terrible run. Lafrance needs to recognize the situation.
  11. Regert reminds me a lot of Fantuz. Demski needs to run harder and get up the field.
  12. Officials can't even figure out a forward pass. Real poor crew.
  13. I'd like to see what actually caused this crew to call holding....
  14. Looks like he'd be a DT in the CFL unless he's going to cut weight hard for the draft. Listed at 240, I wouldn't put him at an ounce under 270.
  15. Game would be much different if Bisons D switched to zone in the first half instead of waiting until the half to make that adjustment.
  16. Harris missed half the season. Their best slotback missed half the season and most of the imports they played at receiver were crap. Their OL is terrible. 9-9 wasn't bad for them IMO given how the season developed. They were one Edmonton mailing away of a game from playing in the West playoffs where they probably would have beaten Edmonton last week, instead they end up playing Montreal at 9 am pacific time and get pasted. I see Buono's work as much more of a problem for BC.
  17. For Marcel it's the corner route, 90% of the time for Denmark. Can't believe how often we'd run that play on first down in the red zone. Even more unbelievable was how many times it worked even well into the season when everyone had tons of film to look at.
  18. A guy like Messam would do the trick. If we could figure out the two games in the season he'd be worth a roster spot it might be worthwhile. As opposed to using a DI spot on a backup running back who will only touch the ball a few times a game? If that guy can play special teams well I'd rather use a DI there than have Messam do the same and be useless when he isn't getting the ball (otherwise on offense and special teams)/
  19. I'm a little bit surprised at this one to be honest. I thought on the whole BC punched above their weight given the guys they lost and the spots on their team that are abysmal (offensive line being the obvious one). Wally passing the buck.
  20. A guy like Messam would do the trick. If we could figure out the two games in the season he'd be worth a roster spot it might be worthwhile.
  21. Same with Goodrich It's Because they're from Winnipeg They're both very good. But realistically, this talk of Demski going #1 is premature. At least until the combine. #1, probably not. But I'd love to pick him and find ways to get him the ball. He's going to be lethal. I'd probably lean more towards using him as an Andrew Harris type tailback then as a receiver in the CFL. Never quite understood why the Bisons did not use him like that. Coombs was a volume tailback, needed lots of carries and busted the odd big run, but I guess they decided to go all-in on the conversion to receiver and spread their talent around a bit with Lafrance coming through at the same time too.
  22. Question.. Onside "gunner" decides to not go for ball but balls to the wall to hit the return man.. As he is onside there is no 5 yard budget zone... Technically speaking couldn't this play be one designed to just tee the bleep off on the return man? Basically the same rules on onside players on any kick, just think of a kickoff. You can't interfere with a guy who is trying to receive a kick, but ya, if you can get there right after he catches it you are legal to hit him if you were onside when the ball was kicked. Onside guys also have a right to catch the kick in the air so if they go for it and get interfered with that could be a penalty on the "receiving" team.
  23. Your post makes no sense. How do you get 7 good NI starters if you don't take the best player available (with consideration to availability around the NFL factored in)? Having a bunch of OL who might be ready to play in 2-3 years won't help us. Gotta draft and develop those mid-round guys into being players. How many 1st round picks on Calgary's OL or Saskatchewan's? We desperately need players who can play now regardless of position. Draft 1 OL with the first overall and pencil him in as a 2nd year starter. Draft 1 OL later in the draft and HOPE he will eventually turn into something down the line. Use the mid-rounds to bolster the rest of the NI roster. Gotta use your top picks to upgrade where you need to and for the Bombers, that's O lineman. That's how you end up with no top end Canadians. It's the Taman plan, look at the Riders roster, look at what he did here. They are SOL when Getzlaf and Foley are done. Might as well trade picks for good players if you aren't going to take the best player in the draft. lol, that's how you end up starting 6 or 7 top ones on your O & D lines, the rest don't matter, they are plumbers and teamsters which is exactly where they belong. You're right. Did you vote for Pencer as our top OL this year? Just use those first rounders on offensive linemen and count the wins!
  24. Somebody has been watching too much ESPN and his name starts with a "G" and ends in "ary." Taman may not be his friend anymore after that one.
