Should We Load 8 Or 9 In The Box To Stuff Messam?
JuranBoldenRules replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
There's no reason to put 8 or 9 in the box unless the Riders do, and when they did the Bombers had the guys responsible for the eligibles who stayed in tight for the Riders to block in the box. Need to tackle better. If you just put 9 guys in the box, Durant is going to take a quick drop and put a ball up in the air for a wide-open guy to snag for a big play. -
Bryant certainly not the long-term answer to our receiving problem but he's the best journeyman we have right now and still might be capable of delivering a solid outing if Willy drills the ball into his facemask. Moore seemed to get open a lot but his ball-handling abilities are highly suspect. Romby also drops the odd one when he tracks back after gaining 1st down yardage and tries to turn an 11 yd gain into an 8 yd gain. At least Watson, Guardino, Denmark, etc. seem to know how to fall forward and maximize gains. Romby and Moore (particularly Romby) have developed nasty habits of thinking their 4.8 speed legs can out run 4.6 and 4.7 guys with the advantage of closing angles! Moore has like 2 fumbles all season, 1 we recovered, Why no mention of all the big catches he's made? 4 fumbles. How many do the rest of our receivers have combined? It's a problem that's becoming a trend.

Alex Hall and Linden Gaydosh released by Panthers

Is this a joke? -
Kyle Jones or Pontbriand. I thought Fitzgerald was a long snapper as well. Not good enough to do it in the CFL.

The Remaining Schedule: One Perspective
JuranBoldenRules replied to TrueBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Eskimos are massively overrated. Their defence is pretty good but their offence truly stinks. That sounds like a better description of the Riders, & I don't just say that b/c you're a Riders fan. Relying solely on the run won't work, imo, against the Stamps or Esks. Their passing game has to improve to beat either of those teams. The Esks offense hasn't been that bad. Not great, but not terrible either. Passing has been there whenever it has been needed. Compare the Riders passing against the Redblacks to the Eskimos (or Calgary for that matter). The Riders are hugely dependent on the run for offensive production. Even with the run game leaving opponents on their heels and giving Durant a huge advantage he is struggling quite noticeably. The only good thing he's doing this season is protecting the ball reasonably well. -
The Remaining Schedule: One Perspective
JuranBoldenRules replied to TrueBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I disagree. The Bombers have a 1 game advantage in the series on BC with 2 games left against them, 1 game vs Edmonton and 2 against Calgary. Bombers have already lost the series to the Riders but are in the driver's seat against the Lions. With all those West Division games left a loss to the Riders doesn't sink the Bombers. Heck, a win at the Banjo Bowl puts the Bombers right back in the thick of things. BC has a much easier schedule in the second half of the season though, compared to the Bombers. I don't know. I don't think anyone has an easy schedule. Only real difference is 2 games against the East vs 4 games against the East, but 2 of those games for BC are in Ontario and they have a rich history of struggling on the road vs the East. Edmonton is the team to watch for a fall. 1 left vs Calgary, 3 vs Saskatchewan. Couple trips into Southern Ontario against teams that will be trying desperately to get their act together to host playoff games. I could see them going from 7-2 to a 9-9 finish. -
Lawless is so dumb. Ya, adding a pass rushing defensive end is going to shore up the run D.
-
I really liked Gibson in the pre-season game here. But he's been so-so since.
-
I'd agree. Sat in two different spots on Sunday. Not very loud closer to field level even when the crowd was in full throat. But when they have a stadium that is more enclosed with the sound bouncing back like IGF, it will be incredibly loud.
-
Why not bring a Alex Hall, Garrett McIntyre or Phillip Hunt instead ? Are they ready, willing and able to play a CFL game this Sunday?

If Willy's high ankle sprain is stable, he's not risking much. It's just going to swell a lot, which could hurt his ability to move. If it's stable it's more a matter of how much pain he's willing to play with. If it's unstable there's no chance he'll play and he'll need surgery. But he also wouldn't have been able to finish the game in Regina if it was unstable, so I think we're pretty safe to assume his leg bones are secure and it's a stable high ankle sprain.

Ticats trade Steve Myddleton to Esks
JuranBoldenRules replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Neither is Myddleton. He's failed in every opportunity he's had to win a more permanent spot with 3 teams, 2 of those teams being extremely desperate for offensive line help at the time he was with them yet they were willing to let him go. If anything he's established that he isn't good enough to play in the CFL. Lucky for him there are 9 teams now. -

Plus Edmonton traded a 4th rounder and a conditional pick for him. It's not like they picked him up off the street or for a 7th rounder. -
Meh, Hamilton almost won a game on us earlier this season on a punt return where Unamba got held egregiously right at the point the returner cut. The two blocks aren't illegal. The Kuale one is from the side and he drives through his block ending up behind the Rider. The last block is on a guy who makes himself stationary and looks for a flag, not going to get that call. The 2nd one is a 50-50 hold.

Awful player. Lost his job to Landon Rice, another awful player with much less experience, which says a lot with how desperate Hamilton was for OL of any nationality at the start of this season. No better than Swiston or Hinse. -
Chick got handled today. And had a couple hissy fits.
-
Kuale's play is bad enough when he's not taking stupid offside penalties. Should be too embarrassed to even tweet. Unsurprisingly the dam burst in our run D again. Don't see how Kromah gets left off the roster for the rematch. Left a lot of points on the field starting on first drive. Riders O was a little more opportunistic. At least we can be proud of the effort and not embarrassed as usual.
-
I'd be embarrassed to play slo-pitch in that t-shirt.

Mike Kafka has been on our neg list previously. Hard to know if he is now. I believe we've had Armanti Edwards on our neg list too, not sure if we do now, but he was cut by the Bears. Probably would play RB/receiver, but was a college QB. GJ Kinne (Als), Tajh Boyd (Ticats) and Jeff Tuel (Lions) could be QB's headed north soon, Kinne especially.

Redblacks at Als - The Crap Bowl
JuranBoldenRules replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I understand that. But how in the hell do you win football games like that? You can't. That's exactly the kind of stuff that led Lapolice from the sideline to TSN. At some point you have to trust your players to make a play, otherwise you're just resigned to losing while maybe keeping it close by being ultra conservative. -
Not really. We gave up about 2 yards a carry without Kuale last week, even with Montreal trying to establish the run to help their QB's early. They ran at will vs Ottawa last night. Pretty clear who/what is getting picked on by opposing teams. Of course that be attributed to other corrections as well, but I'm not going to do a blocking job for Kuale because frankly, I'm not a fan. I'm still saying it's selective stats because they're after the fact, before corrections were made, and don't allow for proper game planning. But I do agree teams will target areas, as well as players. True, but the biggest difference is not having one MLB completely out of the play most of the time, usually because he's over pursuing. I appreciate Kuale's effort, his intelligence not as much. I'd love him as a rush end. Tackles are a horrible stat to judge LB's, but Kuale has 19 in 8 games. That's a joke. Like if an OL came up to the bench press at the combine and did 2 reps.

Redblacks at Als - The Crap Bowl
JuranBoldenRules replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
There was a total lack of urgency in terms of preserving time to score the points and actually scoring what was necessary to win last night for Ottawa late in the game. I'd tend to agree that Campbell was taking a longer view towards a tiebreaker. Chances of making a 3rd and 20, then scoring and getting an onside kick are way better than getting a good punt, a 2 and out, a score, and then an onside kick. You're giving full control to the Als, and wasting time. Keep adding variables, keep multiplying your odds of doing something positive, subtract time from the clock. Putting the ball in the other teams hands purposefully down 2 scores inside the 3 minute warning is almost never an option IMO. Toss up a 50-50 pass and throw a PI challenge if nothing else.
