  1. Sherman lost his lid on the play. Play is over at that point. About the only thing they could do is award the Bombers the ball .. there would be no ability to advance the ball. I know, that's why I said the blown call on the field cost our D a TD, and the blown review cost us 3 points.
  2. Sherman lost his lid on the play. Play is over at that point. Nope, he just can't participate further. He didn't have the ball.
  3. Grigsby is so indecisive that I find it very difficult to judge our OL on run blocking. It's very rare for offensive linemen generally at this level to be poor run blockers though. I'd tend to tie most of our run game problems to Grigsby. I just don't think he is suited at all to running the ball in a zone blocking scheme, he needs to be told which gap he's running through. He also gets taken down by arm tackles consistently, so that makes the OL look much worse. Most RB's can bust through a guy getting a hand on their leg. Greaves had a really bad game last night. Hard time finding a block a lot of the time in pass protection as Willy was being snowed under, and when he did find a block he was getting driven through the pocket by Gaydosh and Hall. Jarvis Jones struggled too. A lot of the pressure was coming through the interior. Personally, from what we've seen of Goossen this season when he's had to come in at guard, I don't think he's a good enough blocker to play anywhere but centre, and that's where he's going to play for his CFL career. So yes, that would be much worse than Jarvis Jones. Hinse is also a guy who you don't want playing anywhere but centre for very long. Swiston's problems are health and conditioning, we don't know where he's at so it's hard to clamor for him to get on the roster.
  4. This is very true. There have even been times when they haven't made calls on the field and solely relied on review. One play in the Banjo Bowl comes to mind but I can't remember the specifics, I just remember wondering how they were going to decide the review given that they didn't actually make a call on the field. I believe it was on a potential turnover. They need to add a commonsense element to the reviews, prioritize getting the calls right over policy and process, or get rid of them entirely.
  5. With Grigbsy and no timeout, I'm not. The only run play I would have tried there is QB Draw. Hamilton wasn't going to let Grigsby beat them around the edge, and he can't make a cut to save his life between the tackles.
  6. Ellingson had the ball and pivoted to turn upfield, survived initial contact and then fumbled. There's no way that's an incomplete pass. Blown call on the field cost us 7 points, blown call on review cost us 3.
  7. Willy's carrying the offense. No run game, one consistent playmaker, a bunch of guys who show up once a month (Kelly, Bryant, Watson). Hard for me to put much blame on him. Our team just isn't very good.
  8. Honestly, the biggest WTF this game was "we can't review due to technical difficulties with the command centre". WTF was that about. THAT IS BUSH LEAGUE STUFF. The Command Centre uses the same TSN feed for reviews. So without the TSN feed to review. They couldn't review it. It's quite simple actually. thats very bush league then to be relying on the tsn feed, why bother going to the command centre then, why not go up to black and forde to make the call then. The play is under review by the tsn announcers is what they should be saying then. I'm not sure what you want them to do? It's the same in the NFL. The reviews are made based on the different camera angles provided by the broadcasting network. Otherwise the league would have to use their own cameras and that would never happen. This is the first time it's happened in history of league reviews. Not bad if you ask me. What do I want them to do? Have a backup plan. If they lose the feed and can't review that play, there should be no reviews for the rest of the game for starters. It's more bush league to play part of a game under one set of rules and the rest under another set than it is to not have review at all. In terms of a backup plan, the stadium feed was working, the play was being replayed from at least 3 different angles on screens throughout the stadium. Each CFL game has an officiating supervisor. In the case that the Command Centre loses their feed, all reviews should go through the supervisor on site.
  9. Next guy up would have to be a new American find. Renaud can't placekick to save his life so he's no help anywhere but punting. This is the point that many seem to be missing. Renaud isn't really a backup for Hajrullahu. Renaud will be here until the end of the season, but his career as a regular CFL punter is probably over.
  10. Keep seeing Coehoorn make plays in Edmonton...at least Jade still has a few years to reach his potential.
  11. That's the kind of effort that landed Jovon Johnson in Ottawa.
  12. Love how they mention the 16 tackle game for Reggie Hunt against the Bombers. Only problem was that Charles Roberts ran for almost 200 yards in that game and we won. Most useless stat.
  13. Chick lost his mojo in the Labour Day Classic.
  14. Rick Campbell borrowed a high school playbook for this week.
  15. That guys dreadlocks have dreadlocks, DB on Ottawa. How is that comfortable?
  16. Dressler's second tainted punt return TD. Open season on kickers?
  17. Running on 2nd and 6... We have so much confidence in you Tino!
  18. Amazing the amount of PI they miss where DB's make no attempt to play the ball at all, then they call this one.
  19. Trolls were fed. Maybe we can give the Rider fan his own forum so he can post ad nauseam about the history of message boards, the politics of message boards and his own message board career in an echo chamber. Seems to be what he/she wants. Then the rest of us can talk football.
  20. Both coaches managing this game terribly in the dying minutes...Austin did the ol' Tim Burke punt for a single attempt vs a 42 yard field goal, punt got about 1 yard past the goal-line, but luckily for Austin the returner decided to go backwards. Jones doesn't go for 2 to give his kicker a chance to kick for the single to tie on the kickoff.
  21. I like how the announcers are just flummoxed by the officiating and don't even know what to expect anymore.
  22. Wow, Austin with a blunder, only to be saved by a bigger blunder by the Edmonton returner.
  23. Keep Collaros in the pocket and he can't do a whole lot. Will be interesting to see if we can do that next week.
  24. I disagree. There's huge value in keeping a defense off balance and guessing. A few passes per game to Fitzgerald, and a few runs up the middle for Pontbriand would help do that. I never said replace Watson with Fitzgerald in the slot. There are much better ways to break tendency that would keep the ball in the hands of playmakers. For the most part, defenses won't lose track of eligible receivers, especially downfield. So you're basically tossing a 2-3 yard pass (vertically, might be a much longer pass in real distance for the QB) out to Fitzgerald or Pontbriand in space and hoping they can maybe gain a few more yards. You're looking at maybe a couple opportunities per game for either guy who plays those tight end spots where the QB can check down to them when they are wide-open. You hit that once for a first down, and it's probably closed for the rest of the game because the LB/DB who is responsible for that flat was probably cheating downfield or looking into the backfield. There's no purpose in running plays for those guys regularly, they just don't have the speed or quickness to win 1 on 1 against coverage. If they are redesigning the offence, spend time figuring out how to get the ball to Denmark, Watson and Kohlert more effectively.
