  1. 2005 Ottawa Renegades Attendance Capacity: 29,862 High: 20,833 Avg: 18,489 (9 out of 9 games) Variance over 2004 Avg: -4,559.0 Low: 16,303 Sellouts: 0 % of Capacity: 61.92% Variance from League Avg: -9,959 Closest the Renegades got to league average attendance was within 2000. Fan support is an issue in Ottawa, although their stadium now is ridiculously small. It will have to be soldout for that franchise to exist long term. Attendance for Ottawa football teams peaked in the mid-1970s, then fell off a cliff.
  2. But it`s a hell of a trick! Look at the havoc O`Dell Willis is causing for opposing offenses in Edmonton and he`s even more one dimensional than Hall. This team lives and dies by the pressure it puts on qbs, Hall would be one of the best in the league at putting pressure on QBs. Willis is a better pass rusher, he just has trouble finishing. Way more consistent pressure. Hall is a good finisher cause he's really long and QB's can't really do much when he gets to them, but he'll go invisible for long stretches.
  3. Not a big fan of Hall. Pretty inconsistent player. I wouldn't give him a big contract, but I'd have brought up a couple American DL for a look on our PR weeks ago, interior and edge.
  4. They should FedEx them to Southern Ontario and let the Argos wear them on Labour Day. Alternatively, we could have a bonfire.
  5. There honestly isn't a way to put a bunch of guys who haven't played together before and make them a very good team out of the gate, especially with the unique factor of the import ratio in the CFL. Short of completely screwing over the existing teams, you can't build a solid base of Canadians from 2 drafts and taking 2 NI's from each team. That's why all the talk about an expansion draft being fair or unfair is just plain stupid. The team is going to stink either way, by taking good players from existing teams, they just guaranteed that the whole league will stink too, which it has.
  6. At least they spent half a million dollars on a 39 year old QB. #committedtowinning
  7. Grigsby is leading the league in rushing, but the Bombers are 5th in the league in terms of rushing yards from RB's, even having played the most games. Tied for lowest yards per carry too. BC RB's- 801 yards 5.1 ypc Saskatchewan RB's- 795 yards 5.6 ypc Edmonton RB's- 667 yards 6.8 ypc Toronto RB's- 663 yards 5.7 ypc Winnipeg RB's- 590 yards 4.3 ypc Calgary RB's- 576 yards 5.4 ypc Montreal RB's- 489 yards 4.3 ypc Ottawa RB's- 378 yards 4.8 ypc Hamilton RB's- 188 yards 4.8 ypc
  8. You must have watched a different game. Willy was pretty clean vs Montreal, nearly all of the sacks were coverage sacks. You can literally count the number of broken tackles by Grigsby in half a season on one hand. That is ridiculous. Running backs are supposed to battle for yards through contact. We have a guy who is great if he is untouched. I would be a great CFL RB too if you could guarantee that I'd be untouched. Big runs are good, but we won't have a consistent offense until we have a back who can consistently gain 4-5-6-7 yards each time he touches the ball.
  9. Montreal started playing way more aggressive and lining their front seven and sometimes safety right on the line in the 4th. Way easier to run block against that. When Grigsby hit the hole, he was in the 3rd level.
  10. Bombers had a guaranteed win night in 98 and 99. Lost in 98, won in 99 against Montreal. Deland McCullough last minute TD.
  11. Pretty sure we lead the league in big plays, 30+ yards. Problem is inconsistency, and lack of running game other than the odd big play. 2nd and 8 vs 2nd and 4.
  12. The 2nd and 2 Cotton dive was a terrible play call. Most obvious play, Montreal was flooding the box. Should have been an option for Willy to change that play when he saw the defense.
  13. Where's Aaron Kelly? Romby Bryant's been more productive in the last 3 weeks, and he didn't even dress tonight.
  14. Grigsby looked like he felt threatened after Cotton put a nice run on the board. Actually made one cut and got upfield between the tackles in the 4th quarter a few times in a row. A little easier to find gaps vs Montreal when they often put all their guys filling run gaps right on the line before the snap. Cotton had a nice run when they used him running downhill. Then gave him a run on 2nd and 2 without a lead block with Montreal filling the box. Would have been a pretty miraculous play to make that one work. I hate when they give Cotton the ball running parallel to the line of scrimmage, hate when they do that with any running back, especially without a lead block.
  15. I wouldn't put Sherman in the good. He made a couple plays behind the line, but completely blew it on a few of those screens. Really inconsistent, and needs to just get the guy on the ground or at least slow him down when he's the first defender there instead of going for the strip. Him being more than a role player at this point scares me. Would not mind seeing more Derek Jones on D. Agree with most of the rest. Putting Sutton back in that game could go under the bad. Don't really care if the guy can pass a baseline test, anyone who loses consciousness has a brain injury, and should be treated as such. Another bad, thought there were a lot of high tackles both ways (including Peach on Sutton) and can't recall a single one being called, other than a marginal horsecollar on the big Stoudermire return. London grabbed the collar, but didn't pull Stoudermire down by it, got his hand out and tackled him.
  16. Why would Montreal want Picard? They have a better centre, and neither can play other spots. Picard is a below average blocker as a centre, he'd get eaten alive at guard. That proposal sounds like a Rider fan made it. Get rid of a player they don't need who is near the end of his career, who cares if the other team doesn't need him either, get a good player and a top draft pick. Makes zero sense for Montreal.
  17. CFL commish makes over $1 million a year. Nope. Cut that by a half to two-thirds.
  18. Ok Juran - name me a sport that does? In Basketball the teams in the west are better. In the NFL - every year, there's usually one or two teams better than a wild card from the other league (AFC or NFC). In Hockey, West is much better than the east in the lower half and even mid-tier teams. It is what it is. Even in Baseball it's bad - so bad they adopted a 1 game playoff for four more teams (look at the Blue Jays Division where Boston/New York dominated for years - and look at what happened to the interest in the Jays). Just because we are not fans of Hamilton, Toronto, Montreal, or Ottawa doesn't mean we can close our eyes. These fans need a 'chance' and right now, despite all their injuries and struggles, all the Eastern teams are in it. If were an Al's fan for example, and it was a one division league, I'd already be saving my money for what Hab games I could attend. Think I'd go see the Al's play? Not a chance. Leave it as it is - and I'd go one step further and eliminate the cross over - as if you want to know/understand why Ottawa 'started' failing (horrible owners were the final nail(s) for sure) it's because when they went to the cross over - no chance. This year you know it's second place race already and that's pathetic as it is. Might want to read what I wrote again....
  19. Too drastic of a reaction to a freak occurrence. When the best 6 teams in the league by record don't make the playoffs under this format twice, then it's time to talk about changing the format. We don't even know if that will end up happening in this season yet.
  20. Copeland should be a shoo-in.
  21. Yep, Zach Anderson is a terrible player.
  22. I'm guessing the city colours are blue and white. Each team with Toronto in their name with any history (Argos, Leafs, Jays, U of T) wears blue and white.
  23. Bowman has one sack against the Bombers in the last 3 seasons and none in his last 5 games against the Bombers.
  24. We're only scrimmaging from one hash? Not sure how you can say that. Most defenses shift based on the strength of the field, and if they feel they have a mismatch they might just take it.
  25. Ya the sideline gear has potential, dark blue with our regular logo.
