Redblacks at Als - The Crap Bowl
JuranBoldenRules replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Ottawa can't even compete with the next worst team. Just look completely unprepared to compete, even watching their late game offence, they have zero urgency. Poorly coached team on top of being short several players. Down by 10 points, punted under the 3 minute warning and ran two QB sneaks on 2nd and 1 when they need 10 points with a minute and a half left. Horrible. -

Love how Burris gets stripped and immediately looks for someone to blame. Ottawa is getting worse, not better as they should. -
His production would indicate otherwise when Moore has been out. Denmark has been fairly consistent through his career regardless of other weapons, more a matter of quarterbacking that will affect everybody.

Vega Healthy Scratch for Sunday
JuranBoldenRules replied to voodoochylde's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Vega isn't healthy and probably won't be for the rest of the season. They are trying to preserve him a bit. He's basically at the if he really needs to play, he can stage. -
Has Volny even taken a snap on offence this season?

Mike Quinn 2.0.I don't expect much more from Brohm based on the pre-season, granted the limited reps. Personally I don't think he's mobile enough to be much of a QB here. If we could make a clone with his arm and say, Alex Brink's mobility, that would be a CFL QB. Willy hasn't shown much mobility here either. Or are u referring to pocket presence? Willy has dealt with pressure pretty well on the whole. He can escape, he can scramble, he's mobile. In that sense, mobility and pocket presence are related. Not that useful to be mobile if you run into a defenders arms or lose a bunch of yards. They aren't running many designed runs for him, only a handful of draws. Keeping him in the pocket is by design, and probably something our offence should be doing a little less of, but I'm a fan of rollouts to give a quarterback easier, higher percentage throws and keep guys like Chick off his back. Brohm is a pure drop back passer. His lack of mobility was a problem for NFL scouts, and clearly they don't value that skill as much as our game does for a QB.

Especially when you consider the amount of guys who pop dozens of pills daily with phony prescriptions from sycophant physicians...something that is way more harmful and ultimately performance enhancing.
-
Sure but it makes the league kind of a joke. Like the KHL compared to the NHL.

How can you really apply it to a guy without a contract though? Player X has no contract, therefore is unable to serve suspension. If he is unable to serve his suspension, why should the CFL be expected to honor it? It's a catch 22 until the NFL says that the suspension clock is still ticking if you're not under contract, which it totally should. Simply honour the suspension. If you are suspended a full season by the NFL, when you sign with the CFL you have to sit out the same amount of time or number of games. Most likely the suspended players wouldn't even sign in the CFL in that case unless they actually wish to play in the CFL and aren't just looking to run down the clock on their NFL suspension.
-
So the rule on suspended NFL players is pretty useless as it only applies to guys like Ricky Williams, maybe Josh Gordon this year, who are suspended and not released by their teams....interesting.

Jim Bell is a top-notch individual. IMO if he was ever given the full title of team president after Bauer, a lot of pain would have been saved.

Alex Hall and Linden Gaydosh released by Panthers
JuranBoldenRules replied to Jpan85's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Hall is not lining up anywhere inside the outside shoulder of the offensive tackle and being effective. Pure finesse pass rusher. He's going to get manhandled inside off the snap. Hall is nowhere near the football player a guy like Chick is, he's a specialist. -
Could they have picked a worse location than Plessis Road? Couldn't afford route 90 or Portage Ave?

I don't really understand O'Shea's comment. We have no import DL off our roster. Who do we release to make room for Hall or any other DE? Bryant, Kemp, maybe one of the three import OL we have who are currently not dressing? That said, I'm no fan of Hall, and don't really see him fitting here, Vega and Peach are the style Etch wants, all-around DE's who can drop into a zone almost as well as they can fill a gap. We do need depth on the DL though. We had to play Vega with a pretty significant injury for at least two games because we have no depth. -
Patrick Neufeld selling Regina home
JuranBoldenRules replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Isn't he working as a real estate agent in Regina? -
What exactly do you mean by 'stability'? I assume you are talking about the Riders? If he wants stability, he'd go with Ottawa because money = stability. No it doesn't. Not in football. Signing with the wrong team cut significantly shorten his career. He's had a good thing with the Riders, with the coaching staff and administration there currently too. Going to Ottawa would be a huge risk.

Stamps vs Ottawa/ Riders vs Lions
JuranBoldenRules replied to Jpan85's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
2005 Ottawa Renegades Attendance Capacity: 29,862 High: 20,833 Avg: 18,489 (9 out of 9 games) Variance over 2004 Avg: -4,559.0 Low: 16,303 Sellouts: 0 % of Capacity: 61.92% Variance from League Avg: -9,959 Closest the Renegades got to league average attendance was within 2000. Fan support is an issue in Ottawa, although their stadium now is ridiculously small. It will have to be soldout for that franchise to exist long term. Attendance for Ottawa football teams peaked in the mid-1970s, then fell off a cliff. -
Alex Hall and Linden Gaydosh released by Panthers

But it`s a hell of a trick! Look at the havoc O`Dell Willis is causing for opposing offenses in Edmonton and he`s even more one dimensional than Hall. This team lives and dies by the pressure it puts on qbs, Hall would be one of the best in the league at putting pressure on QBs. Willis is a better pass rusher, he just has trouble finishing. Way more consistent pressure. Hall is a good finisher cause he's really long and QB's can't really do much when he gets to them, but he'll go invisible for long stretches. -

Not a big fan of Hall. Pretty inconsistent player. I wouldn't give him a big contract, but I'd have brought up a couple American DL for a look on our PR weeks ago, interior and edge.
