I'm surprised the Bombers haven't added any DL of either nationality to the PR. Zero depth there. If Jake Thomas goes down, the whole structure of how they've been deploying the ratio is out the window. We're also on our last import DL. Two injuries at once on the DL and we're playing guys straight off the street.

Stop Harris. Make everyone else beat you.

Like McGuffie, hope his heart is into it, cause he's got a lot of potential in this league, like Dressler with some meat on his bones potential.

My guess is that Sherman returns to his role as a backup and Sears goes back to his previous position. Doesn't work without replacing the starting Canadian elsewhere. I wouldn't mind starting 3 NI receivers given the imports we have besides Moore and Denmark. Bryant looks like his tank is running on empty anyways, we have an extra NI roster spot with Renaud out that the other Renaud could take to backup.

Hajrullahu Vs. Renaud
JuranBoldenRules replied to Bomber_fanaddict's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Roster spot isn't a big deal, we don't really have anyone to take it anyways. I'd make two import changes that would mostly affect special teams: Markett for Unamba, which also gives us some benefit on D. Unamba is next to useless on D, taking dumb penalties on special teams. Markett is a great special teamer, good in the secondary, multiple positions. Suber for Unamba would be another possibility. I just don't get what Unamba is doing to stay on the roster. Yes he brings a lot of effort to special teams, but guys like Suber and Markett can do that and be good CFL players on D too, without taking 15 yard penalties. Unamba's probably coming off if Leggett is healthy. Woods for Cotton/Grigsby, whichever one isn't starting RB. Our return game has been disastrous since Woods was benched, and was above average with Woods. Anyone figure out what the mystery "injury" on Woods is yet? -
Anyone miss the old Section S at the old stadium?
JuranBoldenRules replied to Pitthead's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The problem with Section S was that it became a trendy place to be, and lost a lot of its character in the last few seasons of the old stadium. The beer snake crap was the beginning of the downturn to just pure idiocy and people there for reasons other than enjoying a football game, with or without lubrication. -
Remember Michael Bishop?

Ball carrier on the turf who is not attempting to advance the ball = play terminated. By diving to the turf, Reilly indicated that he was no longer attempting to advance the ball, he didn't trip or dive to the turf to catch a pass and pop up without contact, he dove. The officials blew that call by not blowing their whistles with Reilly on the turf. Doesn't matter if it's a QB or anyone else. Same way they blew the call on the final kickoff in the Montreal game. Guaranteed if that Bomber who was bearing down on Reilly came at him full speed on the turf they'd apply the rules that way^. The only difference between a hook slide and a head first slide is that the ball is spotted at the point the hook slide started while the head first slide is spotted where the ball is when it terminates.

"Rob Cote has seen the ball more tonight than he has all season!" Another good one. It's only game 3 for Calgary. -

Comparative analysis - How bad is the Bombers OL?
JuranBoldenRules replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Toronto's OL has been good relative to the rest of the league. Teams will get pressure when they send one more than the blockers available, and that's a staple of Nelson's scheme. The important thing is to pass protect from the inside out, which IMO watching the game tonight they did pretty well, making a pocket for Ray. Also doesn't help when the offence doesn't run the ball at all. -

Cuthbert and Suitor must have had a really bad game in Ottawa if you're thinking that. -
he didn't hook slide but only because he was a bit off balance... he kind of fell sideways, but he was clearly trying his best to slide and give himself up. Yup, he was giving himself up. All the defense had to do was touch him, but they didn't for some unexplainable reason. That's their fault, not the refs or Reilly's. Why would they think they had to touch him when they were thinking he gave himself up and the whistle should go?....you're theory doesn't hold water. God good folks. I was taught in 6 man football in the 60's to tag the ball carrier on the ground. It's not something that's new. If the whistle hasn't gone, tag the guy. No questions. It doesn't matter if it's the QB or not. Just touch him down to make sure. Tough to tag him when he barrel rolls and pops back up in the space of about a 1/4 of a second. The only Bomber in position to was coming in to tackle/hit him and purposefully went over him to avoid a penalty that almost surely would have been called if he hit him full speed while he was on the turf.

If you're Ottawa, cover Coombs? Maybe? -
Most of that column is barely coherent. The nonsensical thesis of the piece. There's one veteran import on the offensive line, that's January. They are testing out new US talent. Knapp, Jones and Howard don't even have a CFL season between them. The OL is being rebuilt. Decision has been made.

Nearly the exact same play happened in the 4th quarter and the official blew the play dead immediately after Reilly hit the turf, before he was contacted on a headfirst roll/slide. The inconsistency is what ruins the game and leaves the defense guessing as to when they can make the hit and when they can't. It's at the point where they need to adopt the amateur rule of having a player down once he hits the turf regardless of whether it involved contact with an opponent, just for the sake of consistency.

The only good thing the Eskimos did was run option for basically the entire 2nd half and quit trying to have Reilly pass the ball against the blitz, which was a turnover (or more) waiting to happen. Otherwise both teams were absolute self-destructing garbage on offense. The only reason for Woods to not be on the game roster next week is if he is injured. We got killed on special teams, mostly by our returners, outside of the handing of 7 free points to Edmonton by Grigsby, that's the huge difference in the game. How many drives did we start inside our own 20, even when we were receiving a kickoff!

ESPN not covering July 31 Ticats - Bombers game
JuranBoldenRules replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Drew Edwards is the Ticats equivalent of Bob Irving. He basically works for the team. No, he really doesn't. He's often quite critical and not afraid to push Austin's buttons. He's just a little more pragmatic than the columnists with their hair (or bald heads) on fire in Winnipeg. Easily the best CFL beat reporter right now, doesn't pretend to know what he doesn't, actually studies the game, reports what he knows. Others have him beat in terms of sources, but they also have many more years covering the league. -

Do the Bombers have another Bomber Store location? They really should look into it, the stadium is pretty far flung. Even if they just operated a kiosk at St Vital or Polo Park. -
Toronto has league worst pass defence, surprised?

No, Burke is an idiot with a scheme that relies on players playing out of their mind to be successful. -

Can you explain? Guys on the 2 man inactive roster still get paid their full salary. Put him on 1 game IR, add player from PR to 46 = 2 game cheques. Leave Kelly on 46, make him one of the 2 inactive players= 1 game cheque. -
It really does open up a can of worms. I predict Hail Mary throws will become a regular occurrence this season, flood a small area with receivers and there is bound to be a P.I. call almost every time. They showed in our game last week that they aren't calling it by the book though on the replays. Montreal's challenge would have been pass interference quite easily by any interpretation. I think the huge problem (what else is new?) will be the consistency of what is and isn't pass interference when reviewed, and the timing. Will the standard be higher on a hail mary with 0:00 on the clock vs a 20 yard pass halfway through the second quarter? The PI reviews just leave them in such a position to impact the outcome even more than the on-field officials do.
