  1. Well...now the "plan" has been revealed.
  2. And Reggie Slack was a freaking tank. Cato is tiny.
  3. A centre ice faceoff dropped by a referee who does about 6 per game. It's a scramble. O zone and D zone faceoffs involve skill.
  4. Control. Having the chance to outright win or at least put it on the other team to need a field goal to tie. Doesn't change the probabilities or fact that both teams have a shot. The probability of the team receiving the kickoff scoring the TD to win is only slightly higher than the team kicking off. Not enough for the team kicking off to get their collective undies in a bunch and complain about it being unfair. Sort of like the 54-46 probability in baseball for last at-bat. Good luck finding a system that's completely 50-50 with no slight advantages.
  5. Playoff football goes until someone scores too. Could be 3 quarters. There's a coin toss before the third quarter again though....rats!
  6. Oh I'd want the ball. I wouldn't use it as an excuse if I didn't get it first and lost though. That's BS. Starting on D you still have as much of a chance to win, even a mild advantage in that you don't need a TD to win if you can get a stop/turnover and the other guys do. It goes both ways. You need to play the game out.
  7. Except the defence can score in football. You are describing baseball. Hell Atlanta scored a defensive TD in that game. Once one team has the puck in hockey the other team usually has to make several plays to generate a scoring chance. Same in football with the exception being a pick six or a breakaway. First score wins.
  8. One team could win the draw and score in hockey just the same without the other team getting a shot at "offense." Happening quite a bit with 3 on 3.
  9. Like a coin flip!
  10. The centre ice faceoff isn't much more than a coin flip. If your team doesn't get zone time and the other team scores first should you get another draw? No because you need to play D and get the puck back. Probably more sudden death in football because pick six is game over too. No room for error. I hate the CFL OT. Only thing that would make it reasonable is if they started at their own 35.
  11. Cato sucks in many ways. Had a fluky run, big arm, good legs, can't pass. Not interested in QBs that can't pass.
  12. NFL has the best format. It's actual football. I don't get how Canadians dislike it. Are people bellyaching that the losing team in a sudden death hockey OT didn't get another shot on goal to try to score? Pretty similar. Two teams on the field playing ball. Stop them from scoring a TD and your offence gets a shot to.
  13. They did the opposite and lost because they didn't run out the clock and make sure they controlled the ball.
  14. Atlanta had a half to score that TD. Really like the format.
  15. Would be nice if the league or TSN made a real clean free agent list that was sorted by position and nationality. League only has the list by team which is really clumsy to navigate.
  16. Man he's ancient. I feel old and he's even older than me. I'm not sure he has much left in the tank.
  17. That's a pretty large conspiracy considering they have independent auditors who abide by a professional code completely separate from any dealings they have with the CFL.
  18. What info? You realize the salaries/compensation are calculated against the limit at the end of year? It's not a daily calculation like the NHL. A team could have signed contracts today that put them on pace to be 2x the limit and it doesn't matter.
  19. I'm not advocating that at all. There's a handful of guys among a group of really good players who are really chasing the NFL or have legit NFL interest. That has to factor into decision making when deciding who to pick. As a for instance, based on what I've seen I wouldn't single Senior out of the top group of OL as being more dominant, but he has pedigree and a legit NFL shot. In the CFL it's very likely Grey is a better player when all is said and done.
  20. I'd rather Gray and a receiver out of our first two picks. Herdman really thinks he's gonna make the NFL. We need players out of those picks, not guys to wait on. Gray is an engineer too, so might not be into football for the long haul.
  21. Cole can't handle the snaps he got last year. When we dressed 7 DL our D was noticeably better, especially the pass rush. For that matter Westerman could use some time on the sideline too. Ran those guys ragged.
  22. More to do with Shologan's level of play than anything. Lots of replacement options.
  23. Maybe Edmonton is ready to move on from Reilly for 2018. He's showing pretty significant signs of wear.
  24. Google "Duron Carter" and read for 5 or 10 minutes. It went south for him the second he left junior high.
  25. That contract tells you Glenn is the starter. No reason to hand him a large bonus and base salary to mentor.
