  1. Not a bad idea, Willis is as averse to making an actual tackle as Grigsby is to fighting through contract.
  2. The sneaks are a big problem. I mean we aren't even sneaking anymore, we're always going off guard or even off tackle. When you need a full yard, those types of QB runs take way too long to develop and give the quicker guys on the edge a chance to make a play. I'm not seeing our line getting blown up on QB sneaks when we've tried them, Marve is just really inexperienced with it, and that's not a surprise because the QB sneak doesn't exist in American football without the yard off the ball. He's not getting low enough, and not following his centre while driving his legs to take what his line gives him plus a yard or two. Goltz was just as bad at this, so they put in the option package. Not sure if Portis acquisition is a response to this, he'd likely be similarly inexperienced with sneaking.
  3. Wonder if Jermese Jones would consider a comeback:? Or convert retired Doug Brown DT to retired Doug Brown OG? Nate, I'm your biggest supporter here. I'll have your back against some of the haters here but seriously your act is wearing a little thin. Come on. Have a take but don't suck. I was actually trying to get in on the joke against me, Al...didn't you notice the emoticons? So, Dyakowski, Hage and Obby Khan were actually serious suggestions....? This whole thread confuses me. Even the other suggestions on here don't make sense... Dyakowski (who's currently injured) and Hage (semi-retired) were fairly serious. Unless you think our current troops are gonna be able to protect Willy.... I think January-Neufeld-Morely-Knapp-Jones is our best option... without signing anyone. Dyakowski is in major knee rehab, Walters already brought in an injured NI OL in Hinse... He would be an upgrade to Howard or Neufeld... As long as we don't abandon the run game, I think we're in decent shape Hinse? What are you basing this on? Passport for Howard and experience for Neufeld. Hinse 'should' be able to recognize stunts, blitzes a bit better... Neufeld has never been a great guard, I really wanted to see what he could do at tackle. How does his passport upgrade our offensive line vs playing Howard? That makes zero sense. Hinse has only really started as a centre, and couldn't take that gig from a pretty average player. Hinse was released by Edmonton, beat out by Brian Ramsey, Adam Baboulas, Andrew Jones and Justin Sorensen. A whole crew of below average offensive linemen. Even if you're just reading the tea leaves of this guy's career, your expectations should be ridiculously low, not ridiculously high.

  5. Wouldn't consider it unless we had a mess of injuries to RB's. Obviously they see something in Bolton too cause he's here while Ford and Meggett are not.
  6. I could be wrong, but TBH I thought he lost his place on the field. I think he thought he was in the end zone, so he automatically dropped to one knee as I'm sure that was the instruction. Yes, you give up a single point to do down two points but you are still able to, from the 35 yard line with over a minute left - easily move into field goal range. So anyway, he dropped to one knee and then realized (official maybe said something?) that he wasn't in the endzone, he was on his 7 yard line (I think, can't recall exactly where he was but it was deep). OOOOOPPPPPPPPS - i better bet up and get my ass in gear cause I don't think coach would want to start this deep. You are right though, when he kneeled he's giving himself up. In the end zone they usually blow it dead right away once he does it but I've seen the official blow the whistle only after the kneeler is touched. But that could be a coincidence as usually they run around bit - even when they are behind on the score board... which I never understood. I think Montreal figured the Bombers would squib kick and told their returners to hit the deck to save time and not fight for a few yards. Lumbala took that instruction extremely literally and gave himself up at the 5 after the Bombers kicked deep.
  7. I think Walters needs to upgrade the o-line, receivers, running backs, quarterback, kicking positions, defensive line, linebackers, defensive backs and coaching staff. The feasibility of being able to make moves that make the team better in-season is what is in doubt.
  8. Surprising. Can't believe they are trying so hard to replace Allen, guy looks like a player, couple fumbles by a RB he's done?
  9. If not for Wattman... we can try send him (Watson) back to Montreal for any of their young interior OL? You mean the ones who are starting for them? They have zero depth. They have 7 NI OL active, nobody behind them, the 7th OL being a mid-round pick from this season. Baillageron is out for the season. Good luck trading for a Canadian OL this season.
  10. I'd expect a guy like Clifton Smith to resurface before Will Ford. Stamps already have Martell Mallett on the PR. Didn't have any trouble with Walter and Sanders in Toronto.
  11. OMG, serious?? So you have 3 starting calibre NI's in Watson, JFG and Kohlert. Not game changing players, but starter quality NI receivers. And you have an OL that has been deficient for a number of years. Watman shores up a guard position for you immediately, and could be our ticket to no Morley by year's end. Etienne is signed to backup the 2 NI starting receivers; and at least has some upside to him. How is that terrible? Leaving aside the assumptions on Watman being better than what we currently have, why would Saskatchewan trade Watman? He's one injury from starting, and Picard is coming to the end of the line. Saskatachewan doesn't have the depth to make that trade. They have Watman, Clark and Vonk (PR) behind 4 NI starters on the OL.
  12. Reilly is an average to good QB. Still not really making progress from there in year 2 so far, and they've played some really bad teams that he could have had a field day against. They would have lost to BC and Hamilton without herculean efforts from their D to turn the ball over and score points. He's been more consistently good this year, less hit or miss, but you can tell he's still making all his reads with the ball in his hand, and that's not a good thing, especially behind Rosie O'Donnell. Their offence doesn't scare me one bit. I guess you can roll with the if _______________ plays like he can, he'll dominate the CFL. More worried about their defense and it's unpredictable nature. I'm hoping this is the week that Cotton is freed, because Jones' scheme is pretty susceptible to the run.
  13. The Bombers have been using tight ends more than anyone but Ottawa, but one of Ottawa's TE's is basically a slotback, and they use them both regularly as receivers. The downside with bringing in tight ends in the pass game is that you are encouraging teams to send more guys at your QB, particularly when they are primarily blockers and not really a threat to catch a pass and do some damage (like if we used Knapp there), while giving your quarterback fewer guys in the route, making it easier for a defense to force the QB to hold the ball longer.
  14. I'm not sure if they'll give up Dyakowski plus I'm sure he will always goes back to Ham comes FA. I'll exchange Watson for either Wojt (or Rice plus a late rounder from them. ) But Watson + 3rd for Corey Watman from Riders, I'll do it. Landon Rice isn't a CFL quality OL. I wouldn't trade a conditional 7th round pick for him, let alone a legitimate game-changing non-import receiver. In his dreams Rice is not even as good as Paul Swiston. Everyone just seems to look down other rosters and see "National" next to a OL's name and assume that guy is better than what we've got or worth adding to what we've got. Reality is our line is middle of the pack, we're somewhere between Calgary-Saskatchewan-Toronto and BC-Hamilton-Edmonton on the scale of reasonably good to terrible. Teams aren't going to be trading starting quality, even guys who can reasonably fill in, NI OL this year with the NI talent pie having another slice carved out of it. There are no surplus players. Look at Hamilton's OL in their first two games without Dyakowski? Why on earth would they deal him or Wojt? Why on earth would we trade anything for a guy like Rice? They ran a quick game. A lot of it against the zone blitz depends on receivers breaking tackles or making guys miss, sometimes they did and it was a first down, sometimes they didn't and it was a 3 yard gain. Sometimes in that zone blitz they sit in the flats and short zones behind the blitz and wait for those throws. I thought Willy did a good job of not making assumptions. Sometimes that led to incompletions and 2 and outs, but no turnovers from him, and really only a couple balls that the Als had a chance at.
  15. He's a WR. He's a WR that was converted to CB Probably here as a return specialist though... Something must be up with Woods. Didn't see anything that mentions him playing DB in college or with the Bengals. 4.33 40 at his pro day in 2012, not a great 3 cone time, 6.96. Sounds like lots of straight ahead speed, not as much agility.
  16. Yes, very inconsistent in the space of what, 3 plays? Lumbala gave himself up. I'm sure if a Bomber came in there and knocked him to the turf it would have been a penalty, yet he's able to get up from purposefully taking a knee and gain yards. Should have been a dead ball.
  17. Howard wasn't bad outside of the penalties, only watched the game live though. Neufeld was fairly poor, giving up his inside gap a lot vs Montreal's stunts. I suspect Edmonton will use stunts and blitzes to try to isolate Neufeld with Sewell, and capitalizing on a preoccupation with Sewell to open up inside gaps for blitzes and Willis looping through on stunts. Neufeld needs to have a good game because Jones isn't just going to send the guys you expect through the gaps they're lined up in and maybe throw a LB or HB on a blitz once and awhile, it will be psychological warfare. I'll be pretty disappointed if Aaron Woods isn't back on the roster. How many turnovers will it take?
  18. Wild and Kuale have been on the field together whenever they've used a 30 front, and Kuale has lined up all over the place.
  19. Richmond neighborhood south of the stadium has free street parking too within 2 KM's of the stadium.
  20. The game is a lot more difficult when you aren't getting 8 yards on first down from Kory Sheets. Way more pressure on Durant, and like Reilly, he doesn't do much pre-snap, he needs time to read a defense.
  21. The defense kept a lot of points off the board and put 13 up themselves. Willy led the miraculous drive to win, but Montreal wins easy if the Bombers give up a TD on one of the short fields afforded the Als by Washington's misadventures. Defense saved the day.
  22. Has Kromah even played since his injury?
  23. Emry's going to start fights with wide receivers. So tough. Everyone better be scared!
  24. Funny with all the penalties they don't flag a late hit on a QB giving himself up on a feet first slide. So inconsistent. We should look at running our short yardage the way Calgary does with Tate running option, since Marve can't sneak.
  25. Stats pretty even but one team is scoring TD's, the other field goals.
