T.O. Versus Calgary/BC vs Riders
JuranBoldenRules replied to Floyd's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
K. For some reason it's not showing on the CFL.ca stats. Perfect Ricky Ray half. 15/19, 3 FG's on the board. BUT HE COMPLETED 80% OF HIS PASSES! -

Bombers Trade For Abraham Kromah
JuranBoldenRules replied to M.O.A.B.'s topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Any source on what those futures are, or just speculation^? Generally that just means that it will be decided at a later date by the teams, not necessarily based on what the player does. They usually have some parameters, like by November 30th you can pick one of ten players we list from our neg list, something like that. -

That's the future considerations in the trade. Looks kind of rusty, but he hasn't played in awhile. -

Because I think Dunn is a bad player who looks better because Randle is on his side of the field. Essentially, I don't think he should even be on the team... Ok. Why? Because Randle covers all 3 or 4 guys in the route on that side of the field. He comes in to fill 3 gaps when they run the ball. Really we should just play with 10 on D. -

http://www.winnipegsun.com/2014/07/12/bombers-get-abraham-kromah Must read. Look at the picture. WTF? -
Exactly. I mean it wasn't as though our defence didn't play a fairly sound game. They had pressure and they had sacks, and you sure as hell couldn't take away anything from the second most important series of the game…where they stopped Montreal..twice, and forced a FG right after Washington's second fumble. That still gave us a chance, and it seemed Willy just willed his way down the field to win us the game. The defense had to both score and hold after Washington's fumbles for that game to even be in question in the 4th quarter. Huge effort from them. If clutch exists, they were clutch last night. As was the offense on the final drive after basically a half of ineffective play.

Why would you want to see Stoudermire over Dunn? It's like bizarro world on this board today. -
Washington has had way more than 1 great return, he has hardly returned at all in the past and has what, 4 TDs returning? It'd would have been idiotic to at least not try to find out what he can do as a full time returner. Now we know he drops too many balls, so we can put him back to the occasional return. and I doubt Grigsby would be a very good punt returner. Washington's ball security issues have been known since his rookie season. There was a reason why Jovon Johnson was returning punts and he wasn't.

Didn't play for Etcheverry before, he was in Sask for Chamblin's first year with Hall as DC. Thinking he's a MLB. Not what the Riders' 2012 Depth Chart said. Wild wasn't a MLB on our 2013 depth chart either. Different schemes, different seasons. -

I think 2012 was his first season in the CFL and he played absolutely awesome for Saskatchewan until he broke his leg. Been a victim of numbers/ratio since then. Played 8 games, spent 28 on IR coming into this season. -

Maybe Unamba is the odd man out with Kromah coming in or Leggett coming back. I couldn't believe he made the team, but it was all for hustle. He's clueless on D.

Special teams specialists. All apples. Woods is a receiver too. Have we used any DI's on offence? Didn't see Cotton out there last night. Is Unamba playing defense anymore? He was terrible in the first two games when he saw some snaps. He's basically a specialist now too. There are 4 DI's. A guy who does all returns should be pretty easy to fit on the roster, especially if special teams are a priority, which they should be. First and foremost, we need somebody who is going to make positive plays for us, first step in that regard is to secure the ball. It's too important to play around with. Calling Woods a one-trick pony was ignorant, completely disregarding the importance of special teams. Especially ignorant the day after a 1 point game in which 6 opposition points (which could have pretty easily been 14 given where the drives started) came directly as a result of flubbed punt returns. Woods is a terrible receiver...Unamba is an American who's only good at special teams coverage, which is more of an example of why we should get him off the roster. Stoudermire is a good returner, and is capable of filling in for Unamba as well as being a back up DB. Why would we need to back up receiver with a DI when we have good Canadian receivers? We have zero good Canadian RB's and frankly, Cotton looked a hell of a lot better than Woods on KR's anyway. Why waste a DI spot on woods when we can have just as good returning and add better depth to the roster as well? Let me know when we have just as good returning with someone else. Haven't seen it yet. Cotton and Ford can't handle punts. Washington can catch punts sometimes, careless with the ball. Stoudermire wasn't a punt returner in college. Can he catch punts? Catching punts is a skill in itself. We can't have two turnovers a game just so we have a guy who can stand on the sidelines and wait for someone to get hurt to play O or D. If Grigsby gets hurt first quarter, our offence will be screwed if we don't have a decent back up.... Would be a good way to get Willy hurt with the opposing defence teeing off on himDI'ing Woods just to catch punts seems like a waste. We really should see if Stoudermire can do it first. (Doesn't have to be in a game) Washington and Cotton are both better at returning kick offs Seems like a waste? If Drew Willy doesn't lead a last minute touchdown drive last night we basically lose a game because we couldn't catch punts. Come on man. The point isn't just in front of you, it's kicking you in the face. Everyone agrees it was a mistake to have Washington doing the punt returning. What I disagree with is taking Cotton off the roster before seeing if Stoudermire or Cotton can do punt returns I think we saw pretty clearly that Cotton can't do it in the pre-season. He didn't even try to catch the punts when he got a chance. I want him on the roster, I'd keep him on at Grigsby's expense, but if they aren't going to use Cotton at all on offense as a DI, he doesn't bring a lot of value, through no fault of his own. Unamba's role should be filled by a NI.

Agreed. I worry that Kuale is one of those guys that Etcheverry/O'Shea have an irrational love for though. He can line up at defensive end too! -
A year away from what? Starting? I'm not sure he'll ever be a very good guard but he's really raw and he should develop rapidly. I think he'll be a fine centre, and that's where they are developing him. There's no one to deal for, and the list of no one is going to keep dwindling with injuries. I think you'll see a fair amount of 3 import OL's through the course of this season around the league.

Not happy with Kuale? I'd be PO'd if they take Wild off for Kromah. -
I'm swooning for Cotton...but over Grigsby.

Bigger concern on that one is Sears. None of our DB's are going to win that race downfield. Looked like they were in cover 1 (safety only man deep) and Sears was way late to read that wheel route, which was the only deep route the Als ran on the play. He reads that and gets on top of that route, it's nothing.

Goossen is being massively overrated here. I wouldn't start him anywhere but centre, he showed he's not ready to get isolated blocking one on one against Ottawa, at this point he's a good speed bump. Think of how badly Neufeld struggled last night when Montreal was stunting. Goossen plays hard, but he's not ready for that.
