  1. Former Blue Bomber Derrick Ross is the RB. What did he play for the Bombers? I don't recall him.
  2. Orlando vs Philadelphia. Boltus is Orlando's starting QB. Greg Carr playing receiver for Orlando. Bryan Randall is the backup QB for Philly. Philly has a 300 lb tailback too. Is it possible for an AFL game to be broadcast without Kurt Warner being mentioned? I've been watching this one for 10 minutes and they've already mentioned him twice.
  3. You can always form tackle someone who has the ball. It's not that hard, can't hit anyone above the shoulders, can't hit a QB standing prone in the pocket in the knees and below. Somehow not being able to hit above the nipples works for rugby, problem in football is that the helmet has become a weapon and a tool for tackling, some guys like Willis have terrible habits and barely even use their arms to tackle, which is why RB's are usually flying by him into the 2nd level.
  4. Initial contact with shoulder is fine, the follow through with the crown of helmet to facemask needs to be penalized with flags and fines. That's garbage, the upward motion and leaving his feet was completely unnecessary, and makes one wonder about intent. You can't hit people in the head, and that especially goes for QB's. Ramming the crown of your helmet into people is a good way to shorten your own spine too. If Willy got hit like that everyone would be crying.
  5. No ****. Paul Wiecek @PaulWiecek #Bombers will play Ticats on July 31 at Ron Joyce Stadium at McMaster U. #bn Are they going to be able to even televise this game? Good grief. If they can broadcast games from Mosaic and McMahon, they can broadcast games from Ron Joyce Stadium. They broadcast CIS games from there, they'll just need more cord with fewer permanent camera spots.
  6. Really doubt they could put the games into other cities on that short of notice. They'd have to eat a lot of money in terms of flights, hotels etc. They'll play in a parking lot with lines painted on it before that. Cats will be getting a million bucks back from the contractor for each home game lost. I'm sure that would cover the expenses. I agree the logistics would be tough to do on short notice but what else can they do? They go to McMaster they lose money, they go to other venues they lose money. If you go to say Ottawa or Winnipeg at least you stand a chance of filling the place and recouping some of the loss. Just asking the question is all They'll lose less money at McMaster. As you said, they get a payout from the builder. Why waste more of that on paying for cancellation fees on hotels and flights?
  7. I'd be disappointed if a CFL QB couldn't put it between the uprights from midfield. Bishop could probably knock the sub out of someone's hand in the UC food court from midfield. Marve's arm is very strong though, I was watching him in warmup toss to receivers and DB's about 15-20 yard passes, Buck was on the same side as him tossing the same passes, and Marve's were way more direct and in the receivers hands in an instant.
  8. Doesn't really change anything for them unless they decide to adjust the ratio there.
  9. 3 NIs on defence. Basically a NI LB on at all times, and Thomas won't be able to sub out for a LB, cause that LB who's been replacing him will already be on. Unamba probably comes off. Dunn moves to DI.
  10. There are only about two teams in the entire league that couldn't make use of Peach at this point. It's got to be some bad voodoo that's keeping them from raiding Huff's cookie jar. It's a game of chicken, and who knows if Peach even wants to leave based on an opportunity elsewhere. Either way, the Stamps are in control. If they want him, he won't be going anywhere.
  11. Based on the first two weeks worth of games, Willy ought to be rated (arguably) no lower than the third best QB in the CFL. Some people think that Mike Reilly is a star QB...
  12. Suber is great at jamming slots at the line and disrupting timing on routes, but if he gets caught 1 on 1 downfield he is one of the worst at making a play with the ball in the air, and that's not a size thing, just awareness. We used to play a corner (Ottawa and Montreal did too) named Greg Moss who was 5'5 but he'd defend deep balls to 6'2-6'3-6'4 receivers on the boundary just fine. It's all about timing and tracking the ball. For this reason I'm not a big fan of him in a zone defense, yes the tackling is very good, but it would be nice to have someone who can make a play on the ball too, not just pile up 10 tackles after first downs are gained. Unamba is pretty bad on D, his effort makes him strong on special teams though. IMO, Markett on the roster is preferable to either, better player than both, more versatile than Suber, won't lose anything Unamba brings on special teams. Woods is doing fine at returner. He protects the ball, gains yards, and when there is a big return available he gets it. People seem to have this expectation that there should be big returns all the time, but the way teams punt now, most of them are basically not returnable. He's third in the league on kickoff returns among the regulars, and third on punt returns.
  13. I'm glad the Bombers have had the experience of playing Toronto and Ottawa to this point, because they are going to see a combination of both defense's in Montreal. They've seen pretty much everything already, and handled everything pretty well. The big thing against Montreal will be avoiding turnovers, especially ones that give them points.
  14. Why would Calgary let him go? The Stamps would have to activate Peach on to the starting roster & take a starter off the active roster & put him on the PR. I really wish we'd pick the guy up. Seems like a no brainer to me. No they wouldn't. They'd just have to shuffle someone who's not playing onto the 1 game IR and put Peach on the 46. It would cost them an extra game cheque, that's it. Has that always been the rule or is it changed with the CBA? Has been since the 2010 CBA. The other part of it is that Peach would have to agree to sign with the Bombers, and he's already got some time in Calgary's system and he's not far from being on the active roster there either. He'd be competing for the 6th/7th OL spot here, basically where he's at with Calgary.

  16. Why do you have to add someone to the PR? All you have to do is clear a spot on the 46 man roster. Could be by releasing someone or moving someone to the injured list.
  17. Just a few more stupid question so that I understand this process better. I downloaded the file with the free version of utorrent and it took 8 hours to do so. I can now play the file with the utorrent player and I see that the playback can be paused but not reversed to allow for the review of a play to take a second look. No time bar either, what gives? Also can not locate the downloaded file on my PC. Is this because the file is not actually stored on my PC? Wonders never cease! Should be in your "Downloads" folder, or whichever folder you have set to receive downloads. You can open it with Windows Media Player from there.
  18. Might have been worth a challenge from Ottawa if it was ruled incomplete, but going the other way, complete to incomplete, on the challenge would have certainly not been overturned. He has control and turns upfield (football move), catch complete, then he gets stripped.
  19. He won't get on the roster to return kicks. He can't catch punts. I can see Ford going soon. They let him hit free agency and took him back at far less than he thought he deserved. We have 5 import backs right now.
  20. They've been using tight ends a lot (Pontbriand and double tights with Pontbriand and Fitzgerald), which is actually more effective for dealing with a pass rush than another back because it generally widens the rush lanes for edge rushers. Most protection schemes now tend to count the number of potential rushers in the box and add blockers as needed, which is why you see Feoli-Gudino/Watson or Moore pass blocking sometimes too.
  21. Peach might step into our OL if Greaves is injured, but he wouldn't otherwise. OL is doing very well, nothing is coming through A and B gaps through 2 games and they've only played 2 games as a unit. That is very good. If teams are sending more than 4 or 5 and sending halfbacks, that's not on the OL. Backs and receivers need to pick up those blitzes if that is the protection call, and Willy is sometimes going to get hit or be under pressure when teams blitz.
  22. Austin is on the clock IMO. You make a decision like cutting Burris and bringing in Collaros, you're staking your job to Collaros or one of the young QB's being able to lead your team to at least 2nd place in the East. Personally, I liked that move, but their offence in the first two games is forcing Collaros into playing from weakness simply standing in the pocket. The offence they are running does not fit his strengths, so now that move looks kind of odd. Why bring in a pretty specific type of scrambling QB and then develop an offence that's the opposite? If they don't host a playoff game this year, he's toast.
  23. Everytime I see Lefevour actually get a chance to run a normal offence, not just the wildcat stuff, he looks further away from being a good CFL QB.
  24. Looked to me like the Bombers had the block on pretty consistently when the Ottawa's were punting. Maher also started taking quite a bit off his kicks after Woods return, Ottawa's special teams looked genuinely afraid of the Bombers having something odd on. You could see them lining up man on man on both punt teams, being real careful, which I guess is an effect of having O'Shea as our coach. Renaud had a bad day. No wind, no reason to hit kicks under 40, even for placement. Pretty sure our punt cover guys can cover a 45 yard punt.
