He started as a slot, mostly played WR since 09. -
Bombers interested in Romby Bryant?

What's Danny McManus up to? Why not just keep Jaymar Johnson around? Replacing our current next to useless boundary WR with an older even more useless boundary WR rates pretty low on the excitement and team building meters. -
Moe Leggett wins starting safety job

We have Markett in reserve too. Not sure if an IMP DB is going to factor in as the dime given the ratio issues, I'm assuming they'd want Anderson out there for most passing downs. Banks is used to playing on good teams, and even on good teams leaned toward malcontent tendencies. I'm not a huge fan of bringing him in or keeping him around for "leadership." We need to develop good players who are going to be good players when the team is good, if that makes sense. -
If you want to get a glimpse of Bryant's attitude, check his twitter feed and his feuds with former teammates. Guy is quiet as a church mouse, but seems to have another persona bubbling under that exterior.

Ottawa must be going import at kicker. They aren't going to get any better than Palardy off the NI scrap heap.
-
I think Suber is a good candidate to be Ike Charlton'd. What are Suber and Banks' injuries? Youngerbetterguyneedsrosterspot-itis?

Angus Reid didn't even play last season, and wouldn't play this season even if he were healthy with Matt Norman emerging. They lose a veteran in Archibald, but he's been a pretty average player the last couple seasons.

Which ton of guys did BC lose? Traded Banks away, let Keron Williams walk, lost Demarco to Ottawa, lost Nick Moore in free agency. Added Khalif Mitchell, the most dominant single player in the CFL currently when he wants to be. Added Kevin Glenn, a better QB than anyone they had in 2013, including Lulay, Added Hunter Steward, while subtracting Patrick Kabongo. Added a pretty good looking NI receiver in Stephen Adekolu, along with SJ Haidara looking like an impactful offensive threat in his 2nd season. Don't sleep on BC.

Marsh has a strong arm.............................that's about it.

Why? He's a decent receiver...just drafted a round or two earlier than he should have been, and not really his fault. LOL ok fine by me JBR. I always liked Jade. I just don't want to read 100 pages of moaning if we do sign him again. You weren't much of a Jade fan IIRC. I wasn't a fan of drafting him 4th overall or using a roster spot on him for almost a full season when he didn't cross the sideline once and mostly held Brink's helmet until he needed it to run in for a QB sneak. As a 3rd Canadian receiver in 2014, we could do worse.

Not saying Glenn had to play in front of Willy in order to deprive BC of his services, backup would have be fine and that would have given the Bombers a much stronger QB tandem than they have now. Bombers had months to work a deal before the draft but were obviously not negotiating with Ottawa. In hind sight could have offered Watson or Pencer, Renaud and any number of replaceable starting imports they planned to cut anyway. No one can say what it would have taken to get Glenn out of Ottawa prior to the draft but the result could have been Joey Elliot taking snaps for the Lions yesterday in place of Kevin Glenn. So you would burn a draft pick, delay the development of our own young guys, potentially create a QB controversy all to spite BC? seems reasonable... I'd offer up the kitchen sink before a draft pick though. Bombers have around 30 new players this year so in the off-season they had plenty of expendable capital to work with. As it does not seem that Ottawa was getting any offers for Glenn's services I believe they would have accepted less if a deal would have been made well in advance of draft day. I don't believe Walters bothered to try and that's the rub. BTW Lions just beat Calgary handily with their backup QB....think about it. Now that is some classic sports message board logic. Wish real-life was that simple.

My prediction...Ottawa's gonna be all over the NI receivers.

Regimbald and Webster too. Webster has CFL safety written all over him, but probably heading back to Queen's, offer him a PR spot and see if he takes it. Riders might have already.

Jade, Anthony, Bastien. All better than who we have as depth outside of our active roster at receiver (literally nobody). We can basically add a handful of mid-round 2014 picks if we want to.

I don't think there is any waiver priority involved. You can't simply claim players off practice rosters either, you can offer them an active roster spot and if they accept, their current team can match that offer to keep the player and place them on the active roster, or let the player walk.

I'd buy three tickets to Winnipeg from Edmonton, for Hartmann, Alexandre and Dadzie. Don't understand why Edmonton would cut 3 of their 5 2014 picks (Hartmann, Dadzie and Medeiros), they aren't exactly flush with Canadians. Morin-Plante from Calgary wouldn't be a bad pickup either, and I'd look hard at plucking Billy Peach. How 'bout both of them? Wait Hartmann is a draftee by Esks, is it possible he's returning back to school? Possible, although I'm not sure where he'd return to, he hasn't played CIS in awhile. Can still claim him off waivers.

Carrier is a pretty good returner too, think we'll see him surface somewhere else at some point.

Pretty safe to say the cost was a first round pick, what they asked for from the beginning and what the cost ended up being. Not sure why it is always assumed you can dump your cuts on someone else for a player or other considerations with value.

I'm kinda interested in K/P Shott and LB Spoletini. Shott was kind of disappointing for me this pre-season, he's gotten a lot of hype the last few years as a guy BC was grooming to take over for McCallum. I'm guessing that plan has been scrapped to some degree. Looks like Anthony Daley made the Lions. He's a Winnipeg kid who played a couple years of junior in BC, 21 years old interior offensive lineman, was going to play for U of M this season if he didn't make the Lions. I hate that the Lions can claim any BCJFL player as their own, wish that the territorial rights went to the province where the player played midget/high school.

I really like Nichols and both Toronto backups, but it can be a little hard to judge with Toronto because they keep it really simple for the QB's, they count on their receivers to get a lot of YAC based off of misdirection. It's kind of funny to me that Popp went with 2 QB's who just chuck the ball after years of having a very controlled, smart QB in Calvillo who got the ball out quick and didn't take a lot of chances. Masoli got a lot of press hype for that game at Varsity, but I don't think many CFL fans got to see it, would have liked to see it so we could tell if it was deserved.
-
I'm assuming Bourassa is going back to Laval. The other guys are marginal prospects at best, they aren't going to do anything for a CFL team this season.
-
You don't think there's a competitive disadvantage when you have a staff of 7 or 8 coaches when most other teams have 11-12-13 or more? What would you say if the Bombers dressed 38 players instead of 44? The more information and time you have, the better decisions you can make and the better prepared you can be generally, and there are only 24 hours a day, I'm assuming most coaches sleep for at least 3 or 4. Of course there are individual coaches that are duds, but those guys exist on staffs of all sizes.

Spoletini is one of those hybrid LB types, probably isn't big or fast enough to play D in any situation but desperation, but he can play special teams.
