Ryan Lucas torn ACL done for the season
JuranBoldenRules replied to Jpan85's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Who even has the depth to trade a NI OL right now, one that would be useful to us immediately? Looking through the rosters I can't see anyone. -
Madani: CFLPA Recommends Strike Vote To Members
JuranBoldenRules replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Can't see it happening on the league side. They will continue to call the players bluff until they play their crappy hand. The players get a little leverage by being able to walk out during the season, but not enough for the league to wipe out their own revenues. -
Madani: CFLPA Recommends Strike Vote To Members
JuranBoldenRules replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The PA is determined to get revenue sharing because it would put more money in their pockets immediately. Same reason they gave up a share of revenues in 2010 for fixed cap, in 2010 the fixed cap put more money in their pockets immediately. The PA doesn't seem to worry about more than a couple years into the future, which usually means they are putting their future membership at a disadvantage heading into the next negotiation. -
Bombers negotiate Transit game day discount
JuranBoldenRules replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
One thing I'd worry about is that people won't use the park and ride on the way to the game, they will try to use regular Transit routes which are cheaper or get dropped off. There could be much more demand post-game, for the free ride. -

How would they know who came out of which vehicle? It's per person. ... You take $5 from each car as they enter the park n ride? Unless they're giving everyone wristbands.... They aren't charging people to park their cars, they are charging people to ride the bus. Anyone can park there for free if they are going to the mall, casino or wherever it is. -
Main Camp Day 5 (Reports and Discussion)
JuranBoldenRules replied to M.O.A.B.'s topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
O'Shea made a big point of not doing conditioning as part of training camp practices. I'm wondering if he'll adjust that in the future. They had an expectation that guys would come into camp in great shape, but that's not necessarily football shape, and football shape to go from 0 to 60 and compete against other guys going just as hard. -

Even if we go 4 OL, we desperately need to add another Canadian who can play, likely a receiver or DL. The chances of Watson surviving 18 games are pretty low, our depth is wire thin, we lose a couple NI's who we're counting on to play on O or D and we're totally screwed, we've already lost one. -
Main Camp Day 3 (Reports and Discussion)

While i do agree to an extent, i dont see him as a moore or stegall (and thats fine) and he isnt expected to be at this point.. Im thinking hes supposed to be a 3rd 4th option and will be very good in that role.. also, his knowledge of marcel's offense is huge when you factor in the inexperience of our QBs..Not every rec needs to be a simon, bruce or milt.. And he's a good fourth option to have. His size gives you matchup problems in the red zone and he's good to deliver a strike to running a slant or when you need a guy to break off his route at the first down marker. It's not like he has a massive case of the dropsies like many in this league have. Yes he's a slow runner but that's fine as long as you catch the ball which he does. I find most people who say they don't like him simply leave it at that and don't go into detail about what they don't like (perhaps mostly because there isn't a laundry list of things he does wrong). We could certainly do much, much worse. 3 TD's in 24 games. Take out his 3 biggest plays last year, and he's averaging 20 yards receiving a game. That's while playing a lot of boundary WR, one of the primary targets of a CFL offence. He's doing something wrong, because he was completely unproductive aside from 3 long balls down the sideline in half a season, like worse than Jade. Everyone was unproductive last year. If he's having a good camp he deserves credit for having a good camp. He seems best suited on the wide side which we've reserved for NIs in recent years. At least he can do more than a Hargreaves decoy run. Or the Poblah dive for the ball and get hurt. Lining up anywhere else on the field his value is probably lower than players we already have. Highlight reel yet not particularly amazing is an odd combo. Chris Brazzell 2.0? What does suited for the wide-side mean? A guy you don't want to throw the ball to? -

What do you mean? The city doesn't provide any extra service for Jet or Goldeye games. I have a feeling that the announcement is going to involve some private shuttle buses from lots on Pembina, and some park and rides around the city. The Bombers might have to get the all clear to use the parking lots for the park and ride. It will be very hard to put anything substantial together without Winnipeg Transit buses. Winnipeg Jets get $6.9 million in tax breaks... soon to be $11 million per year. http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/local/millions-to-aid-true-north-141154603.html I know, we're talking about buses. -

Main Camp Day 3 (Reports and Discussion)

Personally, I could care less what RB's and receivers do when there is not full contact. All you can judge them on is their route running/cutting and hands, the other half of the game is doing it when you're about to get rocked by someone. The RB's might look great now, but if they can't break a tackle they aren't of much use to us. Kelly should do well in 1 on 1's or skelly, this is what, his 4th CFL training camp? With the same OC. Kelly is pretty much a one trick pony at WR, fly route jump ball, never productive coming into the field. If he's our best option, Danny Mac should go on another road trip. -
The poor guy always has the look of someone who just wants to fall asleep but keeps getting startled awake by someone/something.

Who else would you consider? The only other guy I can think of who I could see on national TV is John Shorthouse. Beyak is brutal, Kevin Quinn too, Joe Bowen is probably a little too eccentric. TSN has Miller locked up. I don't think they are going to toss someone straight to national broadcasts who doesn't have experience doing regional work.
-
Orlesky and Scianetti are both awkward on live TV, Orlesky is fine on the sidelines for CFL, but really rough on the Jets broadcasts. Orlesky is actually really good on the radio too when she guest hosts, knowledgeable and clear. Can't see either of them getting the CFL hosting duties though.

Madani: CFLPA Recommends Strike Vote To Members
JuranBoldenRules replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I don't believe the league will move at all. It's take it or leave it now, and if the players cost the owners real money by walking out, the offers will get progressively lower, specifically when it comes to the ratification bonuses and immediate SMS limit increases. -

Madani: CFLPA Recommends Strike Vote To Members
JuranBoldenRules replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I don't understand the point of not letting the members vote, along with withholding information from members. It would be pretty ridiculous to take job action when the sides are speaking the same language with a gap in money, without taking the offer to the membership. Either they accept and it's over, or they vote it down and now you have a mandate for job action. In the end, the PA executive is representing the players. The fact that they are taking strike votes before taking any offer to membership just shows how they've lost sight of their purpose. -

When I joined twitter a few years ago I started following him cuz I thought he'd have good CFL info.... this is the reason why it took about a week before I unfollowed For me it was the shot by shot live tweeting of tennis matches....not what Twitter is for. I bet he got his account locked a few times for the volume of tweets. -
Rookie Camp Day 3 (Reports and Discussion)
JuranBoldenRules replied to M.O.A.B.'s topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Could he pass a basic test about journalism? Transparent attempt to create controversy, and really no need for it. O'Shea is a pretty laid back guy in temperment, and Friesen is really going to try to publicly antagonize the guy on his second day of training camp? Can't the guy complain behind the scenes if he really disagrees with the media policy? If you want to start a controversy, talk about the number of hamstring pulls in 2 days. Too much, too soon? -
I'm willing to part with our 1st rounder next year to get him. I'm not. He's a role player at best in the CFL, he brings little to a pass rush which is about 70% of the game, at least until he loses a whole lot of bulk. He's also 28.

Retired Numbers/Championship Banners

Another feature from the stadium design that was chopped/delayed for when they have a few nickels to rub together. They had most of the posts set up outside the stadium to honour the Grey Cup teams, but didn't finish it, that's on the southeast corner of the site where the patch of field turf is outside the stadium. -

Has Hamilton violated the SMS once? Every team is spending within a $300,000 window on players. If you're appalled at what Bob Young spends, you should be appalled by every team. -

You can have him. Total douchebag move he made on HAM. If they didn't know he was leaning heavily towards finishing up with the Bisons and trying the NFL, they were the only ones. So why did he "clarify" his position by saying the quad injury and NFL stuff wasnt true and expect me to be at camp and ready to play ? Then flip flopped again ? Here's a quote from Gill, "clarifying" It's been well known the last couple seasons that Gill was getting looked at by NFL teams and obviously as any football player would, he wants to pursue the NFL. Everyone says they'd be happy in the CFL, hell Duvernay-Tardif gave interviews saying he'd be fine playing in the CFL, but when the NFL calls they all head south.
