  1. You're right. The league should never let any new QB's in, they all must be part of the "starter" club. Willy has the same numbers Mike Reilly did heading into last off-season, and has thrown twice as many passes as Reilly had at that point.
  2. Seriously? That's bottom of the barrel, man... why not bring back Hargs instead? Not every signing has to be one worth putting a front page headline on. They can't all be Baboulas.
  3. Doubt we have any interest in Glenn. Bellefeuille was still trying to replace Glenn with Porter at the end of the 2011 season. Is Glenn swallowing his pride to go back to the town that rode him out on a rail plus the meh relationship he has with Marcel too much to ask ? I'm sure Glenn wants to play. I'm not sure he would be preferred over Willy, who has a very vocal advocate in the front office. I think Glenn will be stuck rotting in Ottawa, wishing he hadn't extended with Calgary.

  5. LOL, if you would honestly rather have Desjardins as your GM then inbox me your banking information, I've got this Nigerian prince that needs a bank account to transfer his $15 million of oil money to that he secretly inherited from his uncle. Easiest million I ever made.
  6. Conditional pick. A 6th if he makes our roster out of training camp bumped up to a 4th if he dresses for 12 games, a 3rd if he starts 9 games. Certainly wouldn't give up anything up front for a guy who hasn't shown he's recovered from the first major ligament (and broken ankle) injury before the next one happened (ACL).
  7. 27 when the season starts.
  8. It's not so much the broken bones, ruptured tendons as the severity and frequency. Even a guy like Buck has only had one injury that severe, the elbow in 2010, and you could argue he never returned the same after.
  9. Take a look at the free agent list.
  10. Or how he projects as a starting centre, when he's played his entire life at tackle and guard and only worked at centre as a utility lineman last season when BC was desperate. Steve Morley practiced at centre for us too...I think he might end up being a good one.
  11. Dicroce was the worst receiver we had in training camp last year by a long shot. Couldn't get separation from CFL DB's in skelly, struggled with hands in unopposed drills. Combine that with the recurring Lisfranc issues with his foot, not a prospect I'd worry about.
  12. And really just embarrassing for him (although the bar is very low) and the Free Press. Should have signed Muamba last off-season, during the season so NFL teams couldn't get near him. Does he not have a memory? Bombers have been offering him a blank cheque extension the whole way, the guy has been working towards the NFL since before the Bombers even drafted him. Maybe he prefers a Central American negotiation style with free agents. The Bombers could kidnap their family members and tell them to sign with us or else.
  13. The last two times he stepped on the field in a professional football game he ended up with his foot pointing a different direction and a torn ACL. Joe Montana would have low value in that scenario.
  14. The ignore function is a wonderful feature of this message board.
  15. Those names are in alphabetical order...not a depth chart.
  16. True but if we are saving money on a QB, and Henoc goes to the NFL, I imagine we'll have some cash to throw around. We need Canadian starters. By my count, if things stay the way they are, there are 6 Canadian starters from other teams that will hit free agency... Bourke, Laurent, Butler, Myddelton, Kohlert, and Emry. It would be nice to land one or more of those names. I wouldn't say Myddleton is a starting quality OL. Maybe for Ottawa.
  17. Not an American. From Vancouver.
  18. Probably like $185,000-$200,000. Nobody is really desperate for NI tackles with the way most teams are using the ratio, and he's got injury concerns.
  19. I'd go pretty hard after Laurent, but I think he's headed to the NFL. Butler lives in Vancouver...and BC's been looking for a NI safety since Tad Crawford started sucking.
  20. It's not entirely about money. Turning the team over to 39 year old Burris means you are committed to mediocrity for a long time because you aren't putting your energy into developing a QB. So we win 5-6 games for a couple seasons with Burris, and back at square one. Go with a guy like Willy, and we'll at least have a chance to progress into 2015-2016. I think he's alluding to that as much or more than the money when he talks about mortgaging the future. And it wasn't a 3 year vs 2 year issue...Ottawa is paying Burris nearly half a million dollars.
  21. I guess...if you'd rather have 3 mediocre QB's than 1-2 good-great ones like several other teams have.
  22. What exactly were you expecting Henry Burris to win for us? And yes...Walters should be sure to sign Steve Myddleton, the mystical free agent NI OL, just give him a blank cheque. It is going to be a couple years of rebuilding in terms of NI's and QB's. That's the price we pay for relying on Buck Pierce for 4 seasons, wasting picks on Etienne's and Pencer's. If this rebuild isn't done right and we chase mediocre players like Burris to the detriment of developing better players, it will take even longer. But if the fans sit through two more years of medirocity there won't be any fans left to pay the bills... Pierce was a stop gap to help fill the void while we looked for / developed a future starting QB.. it didn't happen.. The qbs that we had failed to perform and have been cast off. If you are okay with 2 more years for 4-14 - 6-12 years you will be mightly lonely in the stands.. The major fallacy spewing from yourself and a few others is that Burris and a couple free agents in this year's market are going to change the fact that we are the worst team in our division...they won't. Need to rebuild this football team from the ground up, starting with management and coaching, now on the field. Rebuilding is a fallacy in a 9 team league where 6 make the playoffs...where all the teams are on the same level playing field fighting to recruit imports from the same talent pool down south...those perceived to be not good enough or lacking the physical makeup to be in the NFL. Reloading while building up your non-import talent base through the draft is completely feasible. There are several examples of this. We aren't on the same level as other teams recruiting anybody...see Eric Norwood. We need to rebuild. This isn't a regular 3-15 team, this is a rotten franchise.

  24. Give him the Rocky Butler Award, presented again by Marcel Desjardins.
