BMO field possibly being upgraded
JuranBoldenRules replied to Chaosmonkey's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Funny that SkyDome was built as a reaction to the terrible weather that would hit that site in the former stadium there on the lakefront, and now the Argos are possibly moving back there. How long before that becomes an issue and problem related to attendance? -
Rate the Bombers Offensive Line
JuranBoldenRules replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Hard to rely on dropping a 2014 pick into the starting lineup. Lavertu may not get a NFL look, but the couple others from Quebec will. You're looking at guys for 2-3 years down the line. There's nothing great in free agency. Sorensen is the worst player on our line, wouldn't mind him as a 6th, Morley is declining, Neufeld is both injured and not very good, especially playing inside. You can bring in a Mitchell or Myddleton to compete at guard, but no guarantees there either. I'd target someone who can play centre in trade, like Jon Gott, he's a flawed player with injury issues that Calgary might just deal with Jones playing centre and an abundance of young OL. -

Ottawa Announces Entire Coaching Staff
JuranBoldenRules replied to Jpan85's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
They have better Canadian content than some other teams...with decent scouting down south they could do pretty well. People keep waiting for Glenn to turtle when he gets pressured. But he's one of the best in the league at reading and reacting to blitzes. If the guys they drafted with bum knees and concussion issues return to the peak of their careers, you could have a discussion on that point. In reality, no chance. -
Marcel Bellefeuille named Bombers OC
JuranBoldenRules replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Find an offence in North America that doesn't have a sweep to a slot or wideout in their playbook and I'll give you a million pesos. You'd be shocked at how similar every playbook is, very subtle differences and it is entirely the context of how the plays are taught, called and ultimately executed that matters. -

Who cares about the playbook? What he calls and when he calls it is what matters. -
Stubler New Stamps Defensive Coordinator

If this was the 2010-11 offseason we'd be complaining about having to hire a guy who is the head coach of the Grey Cup champions in 2013. Chamblin wasn't a DC until 2011. I'm happy to have some younger blood in our coaching ranks, and Barron Miles is a guy on the way up. -

Are you sure they don't hate it? Very limited options. -

Mediocre OC with a terrible track record for developing QB's. Better hire a solid QB coach. -

Is it possible he could have improved after going to Hamilton? I didn't pay attention to him myself so I'm honestly not that sure. O'Neill is a good centre, average OL overall as he can play all interior spots. Hage is also a good centre. -

Another guy with a checkered injury history though. -

Didn't he miss most of the season with PCS? Ottawa didn't get many guys who are without pretty major question marks, although the talent level isn't bad. -

Only if you're in some kind of bizzaro world. They have one starting quality NI in Shologan. Almost all of their OL are damaged goods or failed prospects, a couple are still prospects. Hage and Eppele would stroll into the Bomber O-Line. Hage is done with the knee injury. Eppele will have a long career in a 9 team league, but is he anything more than an average guard. Not yet. You could put Morley in Eppele's jersey and Eppelle in Morley's and you wouldn't know the difference aside from Morley's gut. Hage (when available) is better than anything NI Wpg has on the line. So is Eppele and he's still improving. Equating him with Morley is baffling. Total disservice to Eppele. to wit: a guy who was behind Eppele on our O-Line depth chart (Parenteau) strolled into your line... and you think Eppele wouldn't?? Morley and Swiston were injured when Parenteau dressed as our 6th OL in Edmonton. -

Gotta get Butler signed first. Rumour is he'd like to follow Fantuz footsteps back home. -

They have depth anyways. Deane wasn't going to start for them and has a titanium rod in his leg, they'd obviously had enough of Fraser as well to leave him exposed behind 14 guys with MacDougall in reserve. Saskatchewan lost both of their interior NI DL. with Foley still with the team, I think they are going import on that DT position. If Foley has to play a majority of the snaps, his effectiveness is going to plummet. -

Calgary or Saskatchewan. Hard to believe that Fraser and Capiciotti were available in the 3rd round. Kinda wish we would have made some trade offers on guys like that before the freeze. Is Hage going to report to Ottawa? Ottawa will have the best 2 TE sets in the league anyways. Can never have enough fullbacks. -
I only saw two training camp sessions last season, but DiCroce was horrible in both of them. Dropping everything even in the warmup drills. The day after the second one they announced the foot injury. He certainly didn't look like a guy with CFL potential hands-wise.

Kyle Walters Expansion Draft Presser
JuranBoldenRules replied to Jpan85's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
My thought through this whole "process" as well. If they don't take free agents, they'll have a roster full of crap. Even if they can't get some guys signed, they can cause a whole lot of chaos and end up with some extra draft picks or neg listers by drafting pending free agents. Also doesn't make sense to proclaim the lack of interest in free agents if true, because you just skewed everyone's protection list against you. -
Bellefeuille's a worse OC than head coach.

Calgary would be crazy to not protect both kickers IMO. Harder to replace than anyone else they could lose in the second round.
