  1. it's a really, really weird list of nominees this year at MOL Yep, January has a chance to get the Eastern nomination. He's next on the seniority list. Looks like the Edmonton writers just voted for the tallest and heaviest OL on the roster. If Matt O'Donnell is your top OL, your team is in a world of hurt.
  2. According to Lawless, the only candidates are the current GM's of other teams. Everyone else is off the radar. What a knob.
  3. What could he do in half of a season to lose it? Trading a 2nd round pick for a NI OL prospect with a broken leg that hasn't healed since June with a bloated contract is pretty close for me. Walters in the big chair permanently is just the Football Club being cheap and lazy. Burke staying as head coach will be more of the same.
  4. Labatte's the 3rd best OL on his own team this season, but that's how the CFL awards work.
  5. The reason I wouldn't touch Bellefeuille with a 10 foot pole for a permanent job here (OC or HC) is that he has a horrible track record at developing young QB's, which is what we need to do. Yes, he can build a 7-9 win team around Marcus Crandell or Kevin Glenn, so can any coach in professional football.
  6. Do you think it is possible to hire an offensive-minded head coach and have him operate at arms length from the OC successfully, who potentially has conflicting views on scheme? I don't.
  7. Wormans offense didnt seem too stellar to me during his last kick o' the can.. Agreed. 14-4 was a terrible time for us. I'm sure being the first crossover team to win a playoff game (largely on an offensive gameplan that destroyed the Bombers zone with passes to backs) was a terrible time for Eskimo fans too.
  8. Worman's working for the Redblacks currently.
  9. I don't think the shelf life of RBs should even be an issue. We aren't signing him to a 10 year guaranteed contract. I think you absolutely go after Harris. And you pay him the top dollar he commands. After QB, he should absolutely be our #1 target if he makes it to free agency. And I think he's a solid level below Cornish. In fact, I think the gap between him and Durie is smaller than the gap between him and Cornish. That doesn't mean he's not an elite-level NI talent. And we need those. The best offences in the CFL the last half-decade all feature at least one solid receiving threat out of the backfield, and he fills that role quite well. He'd be better in Durie's role as a slot with occasional backfield responsibilities IMO. That's what Wally was grooming him for.
  10. Rosters are frozen for the week before the Expansion Draft. Basically once teams submit their protected list, December 9-16. There's two weeks after the Grey Cup for movement. I thought the league still had the right to not approve any trades made after the Grey Cup They have the right to not approve any trade at any time. When's the last time a trade was vetoed by the commissioner?
  11. Glenn is actually one of the best QB's at sneaking, he just doesn't do it because no starters do. Not when he first started with us. Only after, did he get marginally better. And yes he's a 'starter' now, but I still wouldn't have him go first in my rotation of sneakers. He could be worse at it now, we'd never know. Never had any issues with it here, he's short to begin with and knew how to just slide behind centre and guard. It's hardly an athletic play, as long as you can bend your hips and knees.
  12. Only if the Riders don't pick up his option.
  13. This line should take the steam out of the "poor Goltz" thread this is turning in to. A shitty attitude can be put up with if you're good. Young Mr. Goltz hasn't done anything to earn that label yet. If he's not going to listen to me I wouldn't put him on the field either. I would have cut him rather than wasting a roster spot on him though. I agree that if Hall can't go I'd put in Brown. They can't honestly believe Boltus is any good, and they don't like Goltz, so why not? He's been in the league for a few years so it's not like he's a raw rookie being thrown out there. Toth was talking about one specific game when Goltz was pulled. If that is the standard of good guy-bad guy, then Buck must be the biggest jerk on earth. His pouting whenever he got pulled or wasn't starting (prior to this season) was ridiculous, almost at the level of how Westwood treated other kickers on the team.
  14. Glenn is actually one of the best QB's at sneaking, he just doesn't do it because no starters do. Boltus starts way too high, I can't believe any of our coaches haven't helped him correct his technique or get him out of there. His pad level needs to be about the same as his OL then just ride up the back of the surge. Boltus is almost standing straight up. Goltz isn't very good at sneaking either, but he's at least athletic enough that he improved over his time doing it and he could get a yard. The Goltz wildcat set was wildly successful, hard to believe in pro football that it could be torn out of the playbook by spite and a bromance between Bellefeuille and Boltus.

  16. I dunno, at least 2 of those TDs, the receiver was wide open (like 10 yards wide open) Banjo wasn't working. They were getting all tied up on who was supposed to take the inside or outside routes, that's what the Argos were exploiting. Really should have flipped to a more passive zone and force Ray to make a throw. If you really think that would have worked, clearly you were playing zero attention to what happened when the Argos were at IGF back in July. Same as tonight. They shred man and match coverages with the waggle and clearing routes. They try to stem the half on an inside route and then break it out, if the half or corner take the wrong route in that match coverage, Ray has a receiver all by himself. The other issue are the underneath routes, the DB's are afraid to jump them because they are worried about Ray hitting those routes over the top, or being too aggressive and the receiver turning a 4 yard route into a 50 yard play. It's unbelievably simple but well executed. Need to change the looks given by the defence. Milanovich has done a real nice job of bringing that Trestman offence to Toronto where you force the D to make a choice and then kill them with the other option. It's all one read, often pre-snap, just like Calvillo. You need to change the looks so that first read doesn't give Ray an easy throw and you can beat it. Burke had it down pretty good against Calvillo as a co-ordinator.
  17. No QB is that good.
  18. His throwing mechanics are almost identical to Dinwiddie. There is nothing wrong with any part of his release in his upper body, but he almost never settles his feet before he throws, which makes the ball sail.

  20. Boltus...the only QB who throws the ball right to DB's playing a prevent defence .
  21. Making awful decision on punt returns too. He's only been doing it since 2009, think he'd know by now to come up and make an attempt on a short punt to get the 15 yard penalty. Then 2 punts later he catches it at our 5.
  22. If Jovon had a clue he wouldn't field that punt. He lets punts bounce at our 30 but catches them at our 5
  23. Sears could get suspended for that one, definitely a penalty. Can't lead with your head, and with a lot of intent, although that doesn't factor into penalty/fine/suspension. Dangerous hit for Sears too.
