  1. Woodson was the backup receiver anyways. He took reps as a receiver in 12 on 12 during warmup. We weren't short, we had the same number of receivers we've dressed every game prior including Woodson. It was an odd decision given everything that had to be done to make it happen for no gain (other than a cool night for Carter). Maybe Volny is injured, because that's the only way it makes sense. We play Toronto 3 times. The likelihood of our PF-PA against them being consequential at the end of the season is miniscule, like hasn't happened in CFL history miniscule.
  2. Sure Volny isn't a receiver, but they clearly did not have enough confidence to put Carter out there at all, and he wasn't prepared for special teams. I'd rather have an extra RB who can play special teams than someone I'm not going to put on the field at all.
  3. Plus they are committed to it. They use run formations that let the OL fire out of their stance and give Sheets the ball with a head of steam. We run read out of shotgun and if we get stopped a couple times start heaving 40 yard bombs to no one. Big difference between BC, Calgary, Sask and everyone else. And only one of those teams has a great QB, but they all start with being able to pass and run, get the ball in the hands of the playmakers, tons of bubble screens too. Used to be a great play for us in 2011 to Denmark or Carr.
  4. I honestly don't understand why he dressed and Volny was scratched. Easy to complain about small roster size, but we've spent too many games over the last 3 seasons dressing someone who doesn't see the field at all. At least Carter got a nice paycheque.
  5. He's damn near useless against the pass unless he's blitzing. Lots of room for improvement. Teams are using screens on us like crazy because he's not reading them.

  7. So Mack should have drafted Matt Norman in 2011, even though he wasn't eligible until 2012? Dunn and Norman were in different draft classes. I guess your perception really isn't reality.
  8. Based on what? Walters is way more qualified for coaching and personnel positions in elite level football than Forde. What is on Forde's CV? Colour commentator on TSN, talking head associated with a secondary CFL draft combine. He's got several rungs he needs to climb on that ladder before he can be conceivably thought of as anything to a CFL team. Demanding a high six-figure salary and control over certain aspects of football operations guaranteed he wouldn't get a job in the CFL this past off-season, even with several teams interested.
  9. Not good at much if he's not in space. Not worth a DI spot IMO. Really disappointed with Simpson's running too. He's dancing behind the line and trying to make every play into a 80 yard TD. It's zone run blocking, ONE CUT AND UPFIELD! Get 4-5-6 every touch and the big plays will come.
  10. He made good decisions on when to not force that throw, when to leave the pocket, Buck has experience, Goltz has intelligence. Looks like he has the arm and he's dangerous on the move. Liked the improvising, one play in particular to Etienne was something great. Gives us way more options because of his abilities.
  11. He keeps getting beat down the seam, taking outside leverage on a guy and looking for help inside. Guess what, get inside position and the sideline is your help outside! Everyone has picked on him so far. He's our worst DB hands down.
  12. Good offenses keep defenses off balance. You need to have strong run formations, you need to run from them and show you can pass from them too. You need strong pass formations, you need to show you can run from them too. Our offence right now is very predictable, any playaction or read plays we use are slow developing at 5 yards depth in our backfield, really just bogging down our offence and not fooling anyone. Do the basics well and mix it up.
  13. Not true. Elliott drove the ball into FG range (inside the 30 for Palardy). On 2nd and 7 with about 30 seconds left, Lapolice called a QB draw to setup the FG, tying the game but giving BC the ball and the wind with enough time to run two plays from their 35, which they did to put themselves in FG range to win. Classic playing not to lose instead of playing to win which put the nail in Lapo's coffin.
  14. Unless Wallace Miles is still injured, I don't understand why we aren't using a DI spot on him over Ford.
  15. Wouldn't be too hard to pick a guy up who can do it, even guys with CFL experience. Just a plane ticket away.
  16. Doubt he gets any reps in the game. Watched him snap in rookie camp and he was short hopping more of them back to the punters than he was putting in the breadbasket.
  17. I'm sure he is, but it'll be different in a game, and he'll have a million things on his mind at WIL LB.
  18. So Wild is going to longsnap in his first CFL game at WIL LB. Why don't we start him at QB too? Lots of pressure.
  19. She's a great feature writer, never found her to be a very good reporter. Needs to be more meat and potatoes reporting for news and sports, less quirky.
  20. Having two import RB's on the 42 doesn't make much sense to me unless one of them does all kick returns. Volny can take some reps on offence. He should be our Calvin McCarty.
  21. Many assumptions about the run game and inability of the offensive line. Fact is we only run out of pass formations (OL in 2 point stances, RB getting the ball with no momentum), we run zone blocking 5 on 8 and use almost no misdirection. It's a crap scheme for running the ball and not designed to do it well, especially if the passing game isn't prolific. Time to get back to basics.
  22. I'd get him rolling out a lot more, but at this point there isn't much he does at a CFL quality starter level. I don't think confining him to the pocket is cutting down on the hits he's taking, because he doesn't get rid of the ball. He's more comfortable on the move, and we can still leave 6 guys in to protect.
  23. Because Buck would have to read that blitz pre-snap and make that throw at the end of his drop. The whole "max protect, quick hit" offence isn't suited to Buck.
  24. Hurl and McCartney are nowhere near the LB that Labbe is at this point. Hurl is still a prospect, McCartney likely will never have meaningful playing time as a LB. McCartney is a better comparable to James Green than Labbe, even James Green has been useful as FB at times, but they both are on the roster to chase kicks. If you are claiming that they are better LB's you are very ignorant.
  25. To be honest Davis didn't look that comfortable. I think he's pass rush specialist and he's just learning how to do that well in terms of getting upfield while holding his depth. Henry schooled him quite a bit.
