Press Conference: Traffic Woes
JuranBoldenRules replied to voodoochylde's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
An hour or a bit more. Is it really feasible to expect people to leave their house earlier than 5:30 to see a 7:00 kickoff in Winnipeg? The team on the field better be great if they expect to sellout. -

That's probably true, but that is a major problem for the Bombers in the future that will lead to empty seats. If you can't leave your house and be in the stadium within an hour or so, a lot of casual fans and even season ticket holders won't bother. -

Some. Our rapid transit is really only useful for people living in Downtown and River Heights right now. Extending it south down Pembina will bring a few more people online. In terms of having the system developed east, north and west, you are looking at decades. Should be great for Winnipeg Stadium 4.0. -

It's a former golf course. Used by no one, waiting to be redeveloped most likely into some sort of mixed use residential commercial, but with no plans for the near future. -

A footbridge across the Red would also be hugely beneficial to both the stadium and campus generally when it comes to access and parking. Doesn't even need to be capable of carrying vehicles. Considering the debt load the club is carrying, I'm sure they can borrow another couple million to toss in, the university has been studying it for decades, they could toss in a couple bucks along with the governments. -

The U of M has major funding issues, or at least that's how they make it seem in the media. They have a buttload of undeveloped land. They should be seeing this in their eyes $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. If they paved some of the golf course, opened up other lots that were nearly unused when I walked by them around 7, could they create 5000 more spots? 5000 x $20= $100,000 a game/event. A half dozen events and they can pay the salary and benefits of one of their administrators. -
Press Conference: Traffic Woes

To me that is the most frustrating part. People bought into and followed the plan. A few people going to the wrong spot wouldn't cause what happened yesterday. Start over, new plan. -
Harris looked much better to me. A guy that has potential to start down the line. Collaros has a goofy release. He ***** his arm and then throws, not a smooth motion. Can see him getting blindsided a lot. Collaros can run like crazy though, I see him as very similar to Clement. Has some value as a guy that can come off the bench and give you a chance with his legs. For us, Clement looked like the most poised QB, but he can't pass from the pocket (even against the Argo cuts), which is a pretty big deficiency. Goltz showed very little willingness to hang in the pocket and make a throw. Hall was so-so, but was the only one that had moments of looking like a CFL QB. Could be a very long year if tonight is any indication. Hard to say anyone stood out on offence. Lots of drops, lots of 3 yard passes. Except for a handful of plays, our DL and LB's were brutal. I find it hard to judge the DB's because of how badly the front 6 were dominated all night. I watched most of the game on the jumbotron, because I'm sure as a large % found tonight in our NFL-style stadium for a Canadian field, you can't see a whole lot of the play from a good portion of the seats. We were spoiled for years with most of our seats between the goal-lines. We will be moving to the upper deck for next season, and should have been smart enough to start there this season. One thing that would help me would be if the jumbotron cameras were zoomed out a bit so we could actually see the play. It is cool that we can see Buck's nose hairs in HD, but I came for a football game. The issues getting on campus for people driving in to park on campus and with the buses were unbelievable, beyond what the most cynical of the cynics could have imagined. Personally I'd burn the transportation plan, take what was learned last night and work like dogs for the next 10 days (Bombers, City, Transit) to create an improved plan. I know of several people who didn't make it to the game because they gave up waiting for a bus at the St. Vital and Assiniboia Downs park and rides and went home. There will be 5000 more people attending in 2 weeks. If this can't be solved, this is a major problem for this franchise because the shine on the new park will wear off quickly and it will be hard to sell tickets if it is anywhere near as frustrating to attend games going forward as it was tonight. Another big problem is the concourse. Maybe more people were moving around that usual because it was the first game, but they really need to create queues for the concessions. I was in a beer line that was about 15 wide and 10 deep, total chaos. No one knew where it started and it was blocking most of the concourse as a result. Would also be nice to have the screens mounted on the walls opposite the field by the concessions. A lot of them facing north/south when everyone is facing east or west in line for concessions and can't see the field or that screen. The people walking can see the field, so they aren't looking at the screen. As a result, most of the screens were useless.

Hefney Busted For Pot Possession Day Before Tc
JuranBoldenRules replied to kelownabomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
They don't make the rules. If it's a misdemeanour he can cross. The problem here isn't the crime as much as the omission of the facts from the Bombers. I'd be disappointed to lose him based on this, but it is insubordination. -
If they were going to go all caps, ROD BLACKS would have been more appropriate IMO.

Offensive Guru Crowton Revamps Bomber Attack
JuranBoldenRules replied to voodoochylde's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I get the emphasis on protecting the QB, but I hope we don't abandon playaction and rollouts. Most of Buck's injuries have occurred in the pocket, and the only one that didn't was a ridiculous headhunt by Isaac that can only be prevented by the league. Buck isn't a pocket passer. -
Blue DBs Get Second Warning
JuranBoldenRules replied to voodoochylde's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Thing about that was Hefney was honest. He said I'm a league all-star as a weakside HB and I don't think our team is better with me at SAM vs me at WHB. He went out that game in Toronto and had the best game of any SAM we played last season, of course we lost the game with Jovon getting burned deep while playing half, a game that Hefney and a handful of defenders kept us in with virtually no thrust from the offence outside of Simpson. He didn't refuse to play the position, he didn't give any less than his best effort while playing SAM and in the end he was right. I have no problem with a player saying what his preference is and going out and playing his best no matter where he is lined up. If he would have refused to play (Armstrong) or been insubordinate in anyway it would be completely different IMO. -
Squeegees aren't really a solution for the seating area. You'd just be pushing the water on someone else. I remember the ballpark didn't drain well when it opened and the grounds crew had to come up with a system to move water out. I'm a little worried about this too because being in the first row of the lower deck I noticed on Thursday that my whole section was draining down to the first row and collecting there. It was worse at the bottom of the steps than in the seats, but we'd definitely have soaked socks if we had to sit in that puddle during a game.

FANS SELECT BLUE BOMBER GREATS FOR MAIN GATES
JuranBoldenRules replied to TrueBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I don't think you can really argue with the selections. There will always be someone left out when you are picking 4 guys from the history of the franchise. Personally, Poplawski was way down the list, but in talking to my parents about that, people who were in their prime in the late 70s and early 80s, they completely disagree with me. -
Rookie Camp Observations - Day Three

Pierce is sort of Greg Carr-lite. He's got the go route and the fade down, but he needs to get better at everything else. -
Rookie Camp Observations - Day Three
JuranBoldenRules replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I was able to watch about an hour of practice after I picked up my tickets. -Dicroce better be hurt, because he wasn't finishing any of his routes. He kept stopping and then trying to leap to reach the ball. -Clement has a weird release. Reminds me of a baseball pitcher chucking a curveball. -Saw two skelly's. Pierce and Miles really stand out among the receivers. Miles can run every route and has nice hands. He'd be a candidate for an Edwards type role. Kennedy is fast and quick, hands a little iffy. -Cameron looked miles ahead of the other two. Not a huge fan of the tempo of practice. Lot of guys doing a lot of standing around and not a lot of reps. A guy like Fitzgerald spent about 50 minutes of the hour I watched doing absolutely nothing but standing and watching. He did some individual drills on the sideline, took about 30% of the snaps in skelly and long-snapped for special teams (doesn't look like a legitimate long-snapping option as he short-hopped the majority of his snaps). DB's, LB's and DL were always on the move.
