  1. Teams can keep a draft pick on their PR that doesn't count against the PR limit of 7. Sorry.
  2. Don't be surprised when he's ineffective. Buck isn't a pocket passer. He doesn't make quick decisions, nor does he have a quick release. He's had the two worst seasons of his career (2011, 2012) while trying to become a pocket passer.
  3. Our OL is made infinitely worse by QB's like Pierce and Brink who too often become statues in the pocket, weak pre-snap reads and no capacity to make quick decisions and throws.
  4. What issues? They needed more space for a NHL team. That's a pretty reasonable adaptation to make. This stadium opened with inadequate press facilities for what it is being used for. TSN and CJOB had to complain to get their broadcast booths done properly, one of the added costs that pushed it to $200 million from $190 million.
  5. The stadium has always been cheap. It is the cheapest professional stadium per seat in North America. That was actually a selling point when the controversy over the government loan was going on.
  6. Same question people with physical disabilities are asking on the news today. Guess this kind of stuff is what you get when you build the cheapest pro football stadium and don't use one of the firms that actually specializes in stadiums (Populous, 360, Sink Combs Dethlefs (designers of MTS Centre and Shaw Park)).
  7. Billy P is also a non-counter. We can keep him on the PR and not have him take up a spot since he's a 2013 pick.
  8. Ritchie had his players back though, almost to a fault. Not so sure with Burke. Just for the relationship between two people the way he is apt to pop off and blame in the media is bad, but as a professional coach it is something he needs to fix. Keep it behind closed doors and 1 on 1 as much as possible. I'm sure the majority of people wouldn't be happy with the negative parts of their performance evaluation being publicized by their boss repeatedly.
  9. And how many tickets do the Argos sell? I'll be there no matter what to pay $650 a year for seats where I can't see anything, but people who don't really follow the Bombers closely and are going to maybe a couple games a year will be turned off if it is a hassle to get to the game. The Bombers need those people to fill 33,500 seats and remain viable.
  10. Based on the way Burke is running camp, if you aren't playing you're probably in pretty good shape.
  11. I wonder what the expectations are for our offence in game 1 if the starters aren't being given a chance to work the kinks out for at least a half in the 2nd pre-season game. Unless this is in preparation for some kind of 2 QB system where Goltz is gonna play or a move away from Buck sooner than later it makes zero sense. If we are that afraid of Buck getting injured than he shouldn't be our starter to begin with.
  12. The NHL would put up a temporary press box at field level.
  13. Burke said that Milanovich told him that they'd be blitzing in scrums days before the game. You can't win in this league if you can't get pressure with 4 guys, so that front 4 is really who you want to be evaluating. If you are blitzing lots you aren't going to get a great read on those guys.
  14. Mostly because you have 30-40 guys who have never played in the league and have practiced for 2 weeks. You are evaluating them, you aren't going to spend all your time in training camp scheming. You decide who is on the team, then you really get into scheme. Camp is just the basics.
  15. Usually the starter plays the entire first half and part of the 3rd quarter with adjustments of the second pre-season game, home or away. You don't think there is a bit of rust to shake off in terms of getting to game speed after an off-season?
  16. An hour or a bit more. Is it really feasible to expect people to leave their house earlier than 5:30 to see a 7:00 kickoff in Winnipeg? The team on the field better be great if they expect to sellout.
  17. That's probably true, but that is a major problem for the Bombers in the future that will lead to empty seats. If you can't leave your house and be in the stadium within an hour or so, a lot of casual fans and even season ticket holders won't bother.
  18. Did Burke say today that Goltz will play the first half in Guelph, Hall and Clement the second half? Is it good to start a season with a QB who hasn't completed a pass in pre-season?
  19. Some. Our rapid transit is really only useful for people living in Downtown and River Heights right now. Extending it south down Pembina will bring a few more people online. In terms of having the system developed east, north and west, you are looking at decades. Should be great for Winnipeg Stadium 4.0.
  20. It's a former golf course. Used by no one, waiting to be redeveloped most likely into some sort of mixed use residential commercial, but with no plans for the near future.
  21. A footbridge across the Red would also be hugely beneficial to both the stadium and campus generally when it comes to access and parking. Doesn't even need to be capable of carrying vehicles. Considering the debt load the club is carrying, I'm sure they can borrow another couple million to toss in, the university has been studying it for decades, they could toss in a couple bucks along with the governments.
  22. The U of M has major funding issues, or at least that's how they make it seem in the media. They have a buttload of undeveloped land. They should be seeing this in their eyes $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. If they paved some of the golf course, opened up other lots that were nearly unused when I walked by them around 7, could they create 5000 more spots? 5000 x $20= $100,000 a game/event. A half dozen events and they can pay the salary and benefits of one of their administrators.
  23. To me that is the most frustrating part. People bought into and followed the plan. A few people going to the wrong spot wouldn't cause what happened yesterday. Start over, new plan.
  24. Better hope they add more parking spots for bikes. They ran out of those too.
  25. Harris looked much better to me. A guy that has potential to start down the line. Collaros has a goofy release. He ***** his arm and then throws, not a smooth motion. Can see him getting blindsided a lot. Collaros can run like crazy though, I see him as very similar to Clement. Has some value as a guy that can come off the bench and give you a chance with his legs. For us, Clement looked like the most poised QB, but he can't pass from the pocket (even against the Argo cuts), which is a pretty big deficiency. Goltz showed very little willingness to hang in the pocket and make a throw. Hall was so-so, but was the only one that had moments of looking like a CFL QB. Could be a very long year if tonight is any indication. Hard to say anyone stood out on offence. Lots of drops, lots of 3 yard passes. Except for a handful of plays, our DL and LB's were brutal. I find it hard to judge the DB's because of how badly the front 6 were dominated all night. I watched most of the game on the jumbotron, because I'm sure as a large % found tonight in our NFL-style stadium for a Canadian field, you can't see a whole lot of the play from a good portion of the seats. We were spoiled for years with most of our seats between the goal-lines. We will be moving to the upper deck for next season, and should have been smart enough to start there this season. One thing that would help me would be if the jumbotron cameras were zoomed out a bit so we could actually see the play. It is cool that we can see Buck's nose hairs in HD, but I came for a football game. The issues getting on campus for people driving in to park on campus and with the buses were unbelievable, beyond what the most cynical of the cynics could have imagined. Personally I'd burn the transportation plan, take what was learned last night and work like dogs for the next 10 days (Bombers, City, Transit) to create an improved plan. I know of several people who didn't make it to the game because they gave up waiting for a bus at the St. Vital and Assiniboia Downs park and rides and went home. There will be 5000 more people attending in 2 weeks. If this can't be solved, this is a major problem for this franchise because the shine on the new park will wear off quickly and it will be hard to sell tickets if it is anywhere near as frustrating to attend games going forward as it was tonight. Another big problem is the concourse. Maybe more people were moving around that usual because it was the first game, but they really need to create queues for the concessions. I was in a beer line that was about 15 wide and 10 deep, total chaos. No one knew where it started and it was blocking most of the concourse as a result. Would also be nice to have the screens mounted on the walls opposite the field by the concessions. A lot of them facing north/south when everyone is facing east or west in line for concessions and can't see the field or that screen. The people walking can see the field, so they aren't looking at the screen. As a result, most of the screens were useless.
