  1. Yeah drop off from a couple spots. But really Jefferson has always been a nice piece that you hope can create enough havoc on the downs he shows up to not kill you on the plays when he just completely does his own thing and not his job, runs right past the play giving a huge lane for QB to take off/step up, decides he has no interest in thinking about the possibility of a run. That's who he's been since the day he set foot in the league. My issue with him is that we've made him an every down player, we've tried to make him a leader and haven't realized he's a nice complimentary player, not a one man pass rush. Fajardo carved him up last week with the over pursuit. If I'm an OT I'd rest easy the week I'm facing Jefferson, especially now when we are looking weaker across the front. A guy like Orimolade would keep me up at night.
  2. I think they've lost their way. The advantage the 16-19 teams had was being better prepared and willing to play harder than opponents. Think of all the key special teams plays, the way they forced turnovers, the straight effort plays that won them games. Coming out of the pandemic year that has changed and back slid each year. The preparation isn't the same. They think they can show up and things will bounce their way. We get none of that anymore. It's whether Collaros and the receivers can make up for the overall **** ups in a given game, including their own. It's not really a sustainable way to win.
  3. He's older than Kenny Lawler.
  4. It's a nice thought but pulling guys off their couch is unlikely to yield any immediate results.
  5. ******* Ford needs to play a lot more. I think that's the big issue for him. Too bad he punted on last season, set himself back. I wouldn't be starting him (aka giving him all the reps at a corner spot) but I'd be getting his feet wet on D.
  6. I'd be in the same boat if the guy wasn't fumble ******* the ball all over the field on O in both preseason games, dropping passes. Seems like an issue for him in general. Designated Americans can too. Another reason why it's nuts to not just designate someone even if you're not going to fully utilize the rule.
  7. The worst players on the field were Mitchell and Ford by a long shot. Collaros does have to carry the team though. Guy like Demski makes an unforgivable and fatal mistake too.
  8. The real **** up with the backs was cutting Rosery. We could manage with him and Augustine. Guarantee if we flip to an American back (who isn't a DI) that we will have a Canadian DL on the field every single snap.
  9. They did have multiple American backs and Smith made the team aside from being injured.
  10. Well...if you're busting their nuts on other guys who started in other CFL camps you might as well do it on Janarion Grant too. Started in Hamilton's camp. I believe it is a major weak spot. Aside from Grant and maybe Kevin Fogg this personnel department over a decade have struggled greatly to find/coach someone up who can perform the basic tasks of a punt returner....secure the ball and get 10 yards. In terms of receiver I don't really know what they were going for this year but we had a ton of the 5'11 190 guys in camp. And that's basically who we have left. Hopefully they are fast because Collaros only goes vertical. Probably should be looking more for the Lawler body types.
  11. Yeah the compete level of training camp didn't align with being prepared for Game 1. They had 96 guys on the field 6 days before Game 1. Coaching staff and management might have to check their arrogance about how prepared they are soon.
  12. Inexperienced secondary. Similar stuff to what Montreal did to Ford. Grant just doesn't have the next gear the past couple seasons.
  13. Plus the 2 we signed today and whoever comes off for Bighill.
  14. Both these teams look pretty awful on D IMO. BC has no pass rush which was basically what they relied on last year. Toronto has a decent DL and McManis but the secondary looking kind of suspect.
  15. Wonder what it will take to get teams to go for 2 point conversions more regularly. The conversion rate on 1 pt PAT's this week has been pretty bad. 3 Argos run at a guy on a 2 yard out and leave 3 Lions running GO routes all alone. Janarion has no wheels. Works hard for those last two yards though.
  16. Both ACL's and hip. Not sure VAJ is going to survive this game. Getting crushed repeatedly.
  17. VAJ taking a pounding in short yardage. BC listed 9 Canadians as "starters" on depth chart, 4 on D. 2 have to be on field at all times.
  18. Neither Global is taking a spot from someone else. They couldn't cut them and replace them with Americans or Canadians. They'd just have a 10 man PR. If you have 11, 1 has to be Global. If you have 12, 2 have to be Global. So it's kind of an overstatement to have any concern about it.
  19. Dropping one on O would actually force them to always use 2 Canadians on D. They do for the most part anyways. Of course they could nationalize Alexander or Wilson or Jefferson.
  20. Returner situation is ridiculous. We started the season with a guy who didn't even return punts in the pre-season game. The pre-season had no focus on preparing for the real game. Special teams easily cost us 10 points in that game aside from Castillo. Chris-Ike is an extremely raw rookie. I was pretty surprised he made the opening roster. Easily could have kept Rosery as a solid teams guy who can back up all over the offense and maybe even fill that blocking back role. Now we'll probably bring on Murphy when we drop Mitchell and Chris-Ike will go down to PR for Feltmate in the next couple weeks who is more of a pure special teamer with not a ton of utility.
  21. Because they like him and he's an upgrade on special teams. PR spot basically opens up because Lawler is down. Wouldn't be surprised to see a bit of a roster shift this week with Mitchell coming off for someone who can cover kicks (like Jones) and Holm/Bonds returning punts.
  22. I mean the one PR spot is only for a Global player. So if they cut one they just decrease the PR size by one. Feltmate is a really solid add. Surprised Hamilton didn't leave him on Retired List. And the answer is who the **** cares. Jones has been moving guys in and out of that defense like a moron. All rookie secondary cost him the game yesterday.
