  1. It's kind of a weird situation because Streveler and Patterson are so limited as passers. You'd think you'd want one veteran backup who can sling it a bit at least, so basically to my mind if you dress one of the first two you need a Wilson or Dolegala type as the other QB dressed.
  2. It's actually interesting to me he was still picked that high. Because now he's out of football for a year before he gets to come in to the CFL camp. He's not going to have any opportunity aside from training himself to develop as a football player. Have to kind of hope he keeps his head in.
  3. Almost every FBS/FCS football player is taking offers every time the portal opens. Every FBS QB is getting over six figures. This is a story about Mark Gronowski who is on Bombers neg list and has been South Dakota State starter for 4 years. Could have went pro this year, stayed in NCAA and went to Iowa for a "seven-figure" guarantee. This guy is not really a NFL prospect as a passer. Like maybe get drafted in 5th-6th-7th round, maybe but not likely. https://brobible.com/sports/article/mark-gronowski-iowa-nil-deal-seven-figure-college-football/
  4. The running back from U of A who tested insane at 6' 220 went undrafted. 4.41 25 reps at 225.
  5. I don't think we really have a glut of American LB's. We ended last year starting a guy we signed off the street and using Gauthier in a ton of packages as a true B to B style middle LB. Even just bumping Shay into the mix where Gauthier was and dropping Gauthier down to almost entirely special teams is a strong move. Then in the 2 LB spots you have Shay and the two Jones'. Depending how the roster shakes out, maybe you DI another American LB, but they have a lot of flexibility as to where guys fit, especially if the British rush end can play a little bit. A lot of that bottom 1/3 of the roster decision making will depend on who Mike Miller wants on special teams. Could have done something similar with Newell, minus the special teams. We basically need 2 Canadians on the field on D at all times likely, could maybe push that to 3 if they are healthy and get Logan or another American receiver more active on O. Receiver is a real area of concern for me. We'll have to see what Corcoran looks like. OL as well, but I don't believe there was much in this draft for OL. Even Shanks and Anderson it's a bit of a gamble that they can move inside or remain viable having to block on an island against the level of pass rush they will see in the CFL. Vibert is fine, maybe get on as 6th guy at some point this year but hopefully we don't need him and he can just develop. And Kelly and the British DE if he can play. We could have a 8 man deep DL and 5-6 American DB's on the roster. I think effectively Shay opens up a DI spot to play around with for someone who comes into camp and wows them on either side of the ball, most likely receiver, DB.
  6. Ok, but who are you picking that is a better option? Connor Shay has a resume that would look like any American player they'd sign to come in and compete at LB. And he's got exceptional testing numbers so arguably even better than the average American coming up. He is a completely American trained player, his mom is Canadian or something. He's rated by almost everyone the absolute best player in this draft. I'd be pretty surprised if he's not playing D for us in Game 1 (IF HE'S NOT IN THE NFL). He effectively replaces Ford as a Canadian defensive player and both are huge athletic upgrades on Gauthier who is coming to the end. Newell is probably a Day 1 player. Ojo can take some 2nd down type reps but is pretty raw, maybe by the end of the season he's like a Uguak. Findlay, maybe at safety. There's not really a player in this draft that plays Demski's position. You could draft Ethan Jordan, who I really like, but he's probably gotta start at Z and show himself to be reliable before you put him into the slot. The OL in this draft are kind of meh all around. Actually exceptional how few were chosen in the first 4 rounds. We missed our chance at the top group by picking Shay instead of one of them, but we also got Shay. We're probably a better team with Shay factoring in we're pretty clearly building to start 3 American OL, so we're only dressing 3 Canadian OL. We do get 2 spots on the PR for draft year guys. I think you can bet on Elgersma sitting on the PR if he's up here this year. But quite likely could be the 3rd string too if he shows decently.
  7. I think the biggest conclusion to draw from today is the Bombers are planning to use 3 American OL without having to start 3 Canadian receivers. They'll be locking in 2 Canadians on D.
  8. Yeah with Laing I think he'll have a hard time getting on a roster unless he's an inside guy. Usually rotation type ends are pencilled in for special teams.
  9. Wonder if they see Laing as a rush end or inside rush type.
  10. Why don't they have these guys on a podcast and cover the draft instead?
  11. Ottawa snagged Ethan Jordan. Be interesting to compare him down the line to the Keelan White who they picked 3rd overall. LMAO we took Michael Ball's son.
  12. Nope unless he's gone in the round that's gone by since they've been talking about Cumberbatch.
  13. Listening to 5 sweaty men talk about length and girth.
  14. We took Corcoran receiver out of New Hampshire. Low ceiling guy. Field wide out type.
  15. Coakes, Hundeby, Yazbeck in 4th round will all be great CFLers.
  16. JFC this is the Canadian QB discussion panel not the CFL Draft.
  17. By the time they stop talking about the Rourke pick the whole draft will be over. **** Toronto got Gavin Coakes.
  18. Bombers took Vibert OG South Dakota State in Round 3. Regina kid.
  19. He's a QB. He's a good one, he's getting legit NFL look. I think more potential than K Rourke, Rourke higher floor. The issue is, is he a CFL starter in the next 2-3 years? Or do you just end up developing him to go sign and play for the Argos if he does develop? And, there's so many American QB's when playing a Canadian one doesn't necessarily help the ratio that much. They are seriously putting the draft behind TSN+ and the CFL.ca tracker is frozen on Edmonton's 2nd round pick?
  20. Yeah Bagnah over Newell is a horrendous pick.
  21. Probably sit on the practice roster if he's not in the NFL. The last 3 and arguably Streveler at this point are all expendable. Like they are fighting to stay in pro football.
  22. Anthony Bennett. The two LB's and Elgersma are exceptional players. I would have liked to see us grab a receiver here, actually the guy Elgersma chucked the ball to, Ethan Jordan. Maybe we'll still get him.
  23. Not a slight on Elgersma...but what the **** are we doing with this one?
  24. Yikes...drafted a guy just to run sneaks at 17.
