  1. How about the TD drive to start the half when we had no backup DB because Parker got dinged on the return? Now we have Alexander getting burned at half and Bighill in man cover on the 3R getting burned for a TD. Yeah you don't see it I guess.
  2. There's no way that is true. O'Shea is already on his new deal. Who have we added to football ops that makes up a GM salary? None of the AGM's are signed. It's not related to the cap at all.
  3. No but his reaction on the injury stuff is just kind of sickening. As a player do you lap that **** up or wonder what happens if we go 46 v 46 instead of 44 v 46? By the time you get to this game the result is what matters. Results haven't been great without Harris dragging the whole team. Oliviera doesn't quite have that gear. Think of the 21 West Final. Sask should have killed us with the turnovers. Harris had to dominate the 2nd half. I'd say 21 Grey Cup is only one post Covid that ZC led the way.
  4. Yeah you wonder. Is there a push from some to get a better mix and a refusal in some corners to move on from guys? I think as a fanbase we deserve a little honesty from MOS. There's no game next week. You can say "we ****** up" because the whole world watched it man.
  5. On both those plays the receivers waited and didn't high point it. Wolitarsky didn't adjust to the ball at all just kept getting depth even as the DB stepped in front. Lawler adjusted but mistimed the leap. I had no issue with either of those throws. Put it out there for receivers to make plays. They didn't.
  6. *41 football players 2 kickers 1 Navy Seal who sometimes gets in the way 2 guys who I'm not sure could have broke 6.5 in a 40 today but who are all-timers no doubt
  7. Man based on the MOS post game you kind of feel what the fractures are with the front office. There's no chance he's moving on from a bunch of these guys unless they file their retirement papers.
  8. The difference is that wasn't the best effort. You go out there and a couple plays go sideways but you played hard, lost to a good team. Whatever. This was just a team that wasn't ready for this game in any way. Thought it would just fall into their laps and up 17-7 seemed to solidify that lax intensity level down by down.
  9. Was Schoen any threat though? Caught some balls around the sticks yeah. On replay see lots of plays he's jogging lightly on a vertical all alone, no attention from Montreal and he's not even looking over his shoulder like he's in the route. Montreal DB's jumping Lawler, Demski and Bailey on these plays. I think a guy like Ambles at 100% would have been more of a threat to the Montreal secondary running down the field.
  10. Not to oversimplify...but he's getting paid half a million a year to make tough calls, not avoid tough conversations.
  11. Put another way...what does that say to the guy who'd be playing in that spot? You can't do the "every guy on this roster is gonna need to play" **** and then throw guys who are so obviously incapable of playing a CFL game today on the field.
  12. What makes you think that Calgary or Edmonton are set at QB? Streveler isn't a starter. Brown is a far better QB than him. The whole league has already passed on MBT.
  13. I think it speaks to the "player's coach" mentality. But also speaks to do your damn job the same way you're asking the 12 guys lined up on the field to. Sometimes that entails a tough conversation with a guy who has given you everything he's got. Goal is a win for the team. Doesn't matter who's out there for it. You can't always preach the "0-0" this week, "next man up" stuff and then be that weak in terms of doing your job to have a team ready to play in a game like this.
  14. And overall physicality/preparation. Both ways our special teams were unreasonably poor over the course of a season for a division winner type team. You just gotta find guys to work hard and smart. Even our big highlight return of the year was literally Grant breaking 9 tackles and running across the whole field by himself. Yes the starters are key. But it's more like 1/3 of the time on D. Plus you're getting more out of the other guys in their 2/3 if they aren't gassed. These games are always 1-2 possession. We've hardly come out and blown anyone out in a playoff game in my entire life. Even when you watch say WHSFL around here with teams like St Pauls and Dakota who beat everyone by 50-70 points all season in a playoff game they are going to OT, maybe up a possession the whole game. Those little things can make a big difference because in the last minute it will always come down to 1-2 plays and you want your guys at their best. Part of that is using your roster to optimize energy level for positions that need to go 150% every snap.
  15. Yeah it's never going to be on one specific factor. But when you look back and we have multiple guys rostered to do almost or literally nothing but two other rush ends, another 3 tec DT there that compliments Walker perfectly wearing their sweat suits you might go "HOLY HELL WISH WE HAD THOSE GUYS IN THE 4TH QUARTER!" Some coaches might think that would be more useful than Greg McCrae in a parka over his uniform in a playoff game.
  16. Alexander gets matched up downfield we have a bad day. Doesn't make any plays when he comes down into box. He was a stud but hasn't been for 2 seasons now. Not sure it'll be any better next year, likely to continue down the path it's been going.
  17. I'd say in 3 of our 5 losses not having the DL as a whole with something left in the tank was a major factor (today, Hamilton, Ottawa). Could make a strong argument for LDC too. Major difference between how we've run our team previous seasons to this one.
  18. Yeah made a big difference. When you run those zone looks with the backside guy free it's basically giving them the free defender if your QB can't keep them honest, even by pulling it down and taking the free first down every other game. And I think Collaros has run on purpose about once per season so that clogs up the field.
  19. Well and where are the adjustments? Where's the 2nd and 8 play run on 1st and 10? Let's give Demski another inside handoff they won't expect it the 5th time.
  20. I don't know how much we'd actually get but a first round pick in this upcoming draft would be pretty purposeful at this point. It's a draft full of players and we have a ton of guys who are key over 30 and potentially done.
  21. Have started to wonder about injuries taking toll. Obviously have long-term history of head injuries and one this year (yeah they called it "neck" sure sure), plus haven't seen a whole bunch of mobility/scrambling since the ankle stuff from the 22 West Final. Biggest issue I have with Collaros though is that inability to get into quick game. And maybe it's a coaching issue too because he's shown he can do it if they get into tempo/no-huddle looks. The over-reliance on getting the ball downfield is arguably worse as a gameplan than the opposite of that short quick passing game. Ideally you have the ability to do both if they are running coverages taking the downfield stuff away. We've struggled to get into hot stuff since the Dane Evans game in 21 in Hamilton.
  22. That Fajardo pick was the perfect example of how our tactical plan on D was so misguided. You let him have that throw in single coverage and all the receiver has to do is outfight the DB. You drop guys out and do it purposefully to bracket Mack (simply have one guy over top, one guy trailing) and those throws aren't there. Fajardo has to put the ball at risk to try to be accurate or start spinning around in the backfield. Instead we blitzed 6-7 into 7 man max protect routinely and gave him the Cover 0/1 looks he can work with...all he can work with because he has a horribly inaccurate and weak arm in terms of getting the ball there on time at any distance downfield. It hurts so, so much because we gave this one away...and we just had the gameplan for the same QB to perfection last week in the West Final.
  23. Offense put up one scoring drive in a half and tried to coast. Most embarrassing thing in this game is us running the play clock down to zip from 10 mins in both down 4, then up 3, and then giving up the final possession of the game to win it. Just poorly coached all the way around. F for MOS, F for Hall, C- for Buck Pierce.
  24. The team has been so dominant. In a big way makes it more disappointing to be so poorly prepared for these games and have such poor showings. The whole "just another game" thing might need to fall by the wayside.
