Even though I'm not at all big on podcasts, I just listened to that too. Look, I've been around awhile (Bomber fan since 1957) so I know better than to get carried away about things at this time of year. I had to see if it's just that I'm getting soft in the head or are Walters' picks as good as I think they are. Well it's not just me: both Dunk and Hodge say that the Bombers won the draft. Teams generally are satisfied to get one starter out of a draft. If things work out the Bombers could end up getting three (maybe even four) starting linemen from this draft: Desjarlais, Kongbo, Eli, and Griffiths. Not forgetting Oliveira who's saying all the right things about Winnipeg. I can't remember a draft like this one.

The MBB All-time Blue Bomber team: Running backs
Fred C Dobbs replied to TrueBlue4ever's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Those are the obvious ones and I almost went with them. But the thought occurred to me "Who would I want on the team in a Grey Cup game" and I went with Lewis and Harris. -

Doubt it. It would have to be exceptionally interesting like if the Vikings were playing and they brought Bud Grant along. -

I believe that the suggested day for this game is Friday, Aug 23. Problem is that the Bombers will be playing at Edm that day. Even if they bring an NFL pre-season game here that's not the game I'll be watching. -

"Page not found" I suspect they took it down because their source was phony. -

Not really sure although I vaguely recall hearing something along those lines. -

Riley Marra, the kid who does the videos for the Bombers, does a great job on these things:

Tomorrow will mark the third anniversary of Harris's signing with the Bombers. I recall that when we signed him there were people on Riderfans saying that he's going to be 30 soon and running backs usually fall off a cliff once they hit 30. First time I've ever heard of these people but they're affiliated with some American outfit and provide testing data on players. They're going to be at the U of W tomorrow (Fri): https://canadafootballchat.com/cfc100-combines-registration/ Anybody know anything about this?

Wolitarsky owned him in last year's WSF.

Bud Grant became head coach of the Bombers in 1957 (not 1958). He took us to the Grey Cup in his rookie year but we lost. I still remember asking "Mommy, why did Gerry James fumble again?", to which I was told "He's playing with a broken bone in his hand. It's not his fault dear." As GM I'm going to go with Joe Ryan. Not only was he with the Winnipeg Rugby Football Club from the beginning but, as Vince Leah put it: A History of the Blue Bombers p8 and p10.

I wonder if there's anything in his contract with the Bombers that would prevent him from doing this? Maybe the Bombers could fine him. What size fine would be appropriate? 😉 -

The irony in this is delicious: After today's Bighill signing, one Rider fan posted that all the Bombers need now is to get a new GM, HC and QB. -
I have a vague recollection of reading somewhere that BLM's wife has a high paying job in Calgary working in the Provincial health service. Which reminds me of the George Gratzer case. Back in the late 60's I used to eat lunch with, among others, a couple of guys who were studying mathematics at the U of M. I remember them telling us about Professor Gratzer, who was on the maths staff, and saying that this man is a world class mathematician and there's no way that he should be here. He should be at Harvard or Standford, someplace like that. The thing is that both Gratzer and his wife were Hungarian, and his wife qualified as a dentist in Hungary. She wanted to work as a dentist but the American dentist's union wouldn't recognize her qualifications. Someone from the U of M's math dept was at a conference and found out about this. So he phoned up the Dentistry Dept at the U of M and said that we'd love to make him an offer but can you sort out his wife's qualification issues. Problem solved. Gratzer came to Winnipeg and has been here ever since. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Grätzer It's good to see the Bombers continuing this tradition.
