  1. I actually liked a couple of Aarvarks comments on TEP to the point that I thought I should embellish them: Q: Did you hear about that Welsh kicker on the Riders roster Owens, Evan. A: Yeah but he'll be gone this weekend. They're bringing in some English guy: Owen, Nate.
  2. In spite of his size (6'1", 223 lbs) he's a former safety and played outside linebacker last year for Ottawa. I wonder where the Bombers will use him.
  3. Chris Walby ‏@BigBluto63 Chris Walby retweeted Kirk Penton Great move if we can get him. Good football player who just wants to play. one of the best with Ottawa last year
  4. Now that he's been released his old contract is in the dustbin. Basically he's become a free agent right now rather than having to wait till next February. If more than one team is interested there could be a bit of a bidding war for him.
  5. The folks who like their Hamilton defensive coordinator might disagree with you Not to mention that guy who one year was a 28 year old receiver for the Bombers and the next year was our Head Coach. And now there's a statue of him outside the Bomber Store.
  6. I very much doubt that. When Khari retired as a player he got a job as a sideline commentator for the CBC. I remember the first game he worked in Winnipeg. There was a break in play and some talking heads on the screen with the Cannad Inns field in the background. For no apparent reason a bunch of applause and cheering started up. It turned out that it was for Khari who was on the sideline just south of the visitor's bench. They asked him about it later and he, visibly choked up, said "I didn't know what to expect coming back here because I didn't leave under the best of circumstances but I was getting lots of 'Welcome back' and 'Good luck on your new job' comments. These Winnipeg fans are great." I think he'd come back here, provided that the circus that's been in town for so long has finally left. IMO, at the end of this season we have to re-evaluate our OC position. The guys we should be thinking about are Khari, Jarious Jackson and Jason Maas. We might have to throw in an "Assistant Head Coach" title but that wouldn't be a bad thing.
  7. Willy is in 3rd place with 135 points, only 15 points behind Rakeem Cato. But we can give Drew another 10 points by tweeting: If you've got a twitter account go to https://twitter.com/CFL and scroll down until you find RT to vote for @Wpg_BlueBombers QB @Drew_Willy as the @ShawInfo Fans' Choice of the Week! #CFL As I write, Willy is in the lead with 75 Retweets.
  8. With a torn pec I expect him to be out for the season. Yeah, January missed the entire 2010 season after tearing a pec in a preseason game. Didn't Lobendahn miss time with a torn pec one year too? Possibly but I only remember Lobendahn having problems with his knee.
  9. With a torn pec I expect him to be out for the season. Yeah, January missed the entire 2010 season after tearing a pec in a preseason game.
  10. I'd like to see them adapt 'the system' to suit the talent they've got on the roster. Trying to force a square peg into a round hole is a losing strategy.
  11. Someone posted these stats on the cfl.ca forum: I am simply gobsmacked that Brohm is still our back-up QB.
  12. It's only a matter of time. Barring a spectacular turnaround he'll be gone at the end of the season. Too bad, nice guy, but he seems to have the same kind of blind spots that Mack had.
  13. Lenny Walls definitely started it but I think the coach that encouraged it was Mike Kelly: http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/swaggervilles-so-sweet-67151407.html I always thought it was a bad idea. Teams make a big effort not to give their opponents bulletin board material for their locker rooms. IMO the whole swaggerville business was like putting a target on the back of every Bomber defensive player.
  14. That's from Steve Daniel: http://www.cfl.ca/article/cflca-game-notes-a-look-at-week-4 Bit of a boo boo by the CFL's Head Statistician.
  15. The maths behind this came out on esksfans.com: Since Lirum is way below the CFL average for 1 pointers, we should be going for the 2 points.
  16. yeah they really are trying to emulate the 2008 Blue Bombers. Wouldn't it be wonderful if they fired Chamblin and hired Mike Kelly next year?
  17. When Hall replaced Etch as the Bombers DC I had high hopes, thinking "Now we've got a real Defensive Coordinator." But so far he's been the biggest disappointment of the season.
  18. Which we will own after tonight's game Technically, we're in first place right now (in virtue of a better points spread than Calgary): http://www.cfl.ca/standings/2015/reg
  19. Can't see McCallum breaking Bob Cameron's record as the oldest guy ever to play professional football. (The Americans think that George 'The Fossil' Blanda holds the record but it's actually Cameron.)
  20. Oops. Sorry, didn't see that one.
  21. The new power rankings are out: http://www.cfl.ca/article/nissan-titan-power-rankings-bombers-make-big-leap
  22. One match up that I'm interested in is Chris Greaves vs Rory Connop. Rory who? This guy has a very low Google profile. He was drafted at #26 by the Riders and now finds himself as a rookie starter. This could give us room to run behind Greaves and Bryant.
  23. This strikes me as a risky move. Montreal or BC might grab him. Heck, I'd choose Franklin over Portis.
  24. Today's tweets from Irving and Bauming re practice: Bob Irving ‏@BobIrvingCJOB 43s44 seconds ago Jhomo Gordon grabs a bullet pass from Portis--lots of good receivers in bomber camp. Darrin Bauming ‏@DarrinBauming 1m1 minute ago Brendan Morgan picks off an errant Josh Portis toss. Many were surprised when Walters took Morgan 15th-overall in the 2015 draft. #Bombers Bob Irving ‏@BobIrvingCJOB 5m5 minutes ago Kris bastien makes spectacular catch of long throw from marve in bomber practice. Bob Irving ‏@BobIrvingCJOB 20m20 minutes ago Players cheer when Robert marve totally fools defence on a bootleg in a goal line drill and walks into the end zone Darrin Bauming ‏@DarrinBauming 50m50 minutes ago Robert Marve with a deep strike down the sidelines, and Canadian Kris Bastien goes up and gets it. #Bombers Sounds like Bastien is having a good day.
  25. Esks starting Cauchy at SAM tomorrow night : http://www.esksfans.com/forum/showthread.php?31329-2015-Eskimos-Training-Camp&p=765170#post765170
