Bowman has not been the same since his injury. I'm not sure he could make the team now.

Montreal Game - Rules and strategic implications
Jacquie replied to ALuCsRED's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
A coach can challenge a PI call in the last 3 minutes of the game. The team needs to have a challenge (obviously) and a time-out left. If the team is challenging that PI occurred and wasn't called and loses the challenge then they lose their time-out. I'm not sure whether Montreal had a time-out left at that point in the game. -
I think they already do.

I must have imagined the countless number of posts at various message forums complaining about non-calls by the officials in the past. I also must have imagined all of those posts complaining about roughing the passer calls not being made. And if you think no one questioned calls before video review, you're dreaming.

I've said this before but Black sucks the life out of every game he does. More people need to do what you did, Iso... call TSN and complain. Complaining about him on message boards isn't going to do anything since I doubt they even have a clue that people are constantly complaining about him (basing that on the comment you made about the TSN person being surprised when you said Black sucks) - enough people need to contact them directly before they will do something about him.

It's going to be interesting to see how players respond to Chamblin's benching players like that. Suitor was going on that if he applies it to everyone it will set a standard for what the coach expects from his players. Problem is it can't be applied to everyone - there aren't enough players on the roster to apply it fairly. Durant doesn't get pulled if he throws an interception. Guyton gets pulled for taking a penalty that extends a Lions' drive but Brackenridge takes the stupid taunting penalty earlier that extended a drive and he doesn't get pulled.

The league has made it clear they have zero tolerance for any contact to the QB that is above the shoulders. The replay clearly showed that happened on that play.

Here's a link to a really good article about Bob Irving that was in the Gazette: http://www.montrealgazette.com/sports/football/montreal-alouettes/Zurkowsky+Forty+years+broadcasting/10022697/story.html It's rather long so Iong so I'm not going to copy it here. Enjoy.

The game is supposed to be replayed on TSN2 at 1:00 am if anyone is interested.

How many strikes before we're out? 10? 15? I think I may need that many chances! -
Gavins fined for dirty hit on Drew Willy

The 2010 CBA says nothing about being able to appeal a fine - just the procedure for appealing a suspension. I don't think that's changed but I'm not certain. Doesn't say a lot of things in the CBA or league by-laws that are league convention, such as the maximum fine being half a game cheque. Doesn't say anything about third party arbitration for suspensions or fines either, just that a player can appeal the penalty back to the commissioner and the commissioner has the power to remit any penalty. Traditionally, the appeals have gone to a 3rd party. The league has tried to move away from this the last 2 CBA negotiations, but haven't been able to get the players to agree to any alternative to this point. I stand corrected about the appeal of fines. Section 21.06 Dispute of Fine by Player In the event that a Player disputes the reason for the imposition of the fine or the amount of the fine imposed, the Player may submit such dispute to arbitration in accordance with the arbitration system contained in this Agreement. In the event that an Arbitrator determines that a Player is entitled to be reimbursed fine monies or any part thereof, the C.F.L.P.A. shall reimburse the Club the amount of the fine monies or any part thereof awarded to the Player and the Member Club shall, upon receipt, reimburse the Player. There is a large section on third party arbitration in Article 4. From the 2010 CBA: Section 21.04 Maximum Fine The maximum fine that any Player can be assessed for breach of any published rule or regulation of a Member Club that has been provided to a Player and that is reasonable, or for the breach of any term or condition of the Standard Player Contract in existence between the Player and the Member Club, shall be a sum equal to one half (1/2) of the amount a Player would earn for one (1) regular season game from all Contracts between the Player and the Member Club in that year. -

No he isn't (at least not on this point) - I was. DB didn't say anything about a suspension being with pay - that was strictly me trying to figure out (incorrectly) how a fine could be worse than a suspension. I think Onyenegecha's suggestion about suspensions being overturned may be why DB said a fine worked better. -

That could be what DB meant. And with Sears he didn't appeal his suspension. Mitchell's was upheld but I'd be hard pressed to come up with another example. -

I agree. There have been a number of times where his opinion has left me shaking my head. However, in the case, I think a former player/player rep has more insight into how players feel about fines/suspensions than fans do. -

Doug Brown was a magnificent football player. I have found that I agree with about half of what he says since becoming a journalist. In other words, I disagree with about half of what he says. And he's not always right. This would make the CFL the first league I've ever heard of where a suspended player gets paid. I didn't say Doug Brown said players get paid when suspended for discipline - I was guessing at that based on his comment. But when he says a fine is more effective at making the point then I think he knows better than we do on that matter. So basically you don't know but are going to argue about it anyways? What?? I clarified what I meant in my post and said Doug Brown, who actually played and was a player rep, would know better than fans and you consider that arguing?! -
Is it really that easy? No. It would mean changing flight schedules, hotel reservations, having to ensure both stadiums are available on alternate days, contacting ticket holders on the change, etc, etc.

I'm going to go with Grigsby which means he will likely not score a TD and Nick Moore will. Those picking Cornish may want to keep an eye on reports out of Calgary because Cornish is suffering from a concussion from that hit by Hebert. -

Jacquie replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Based on what Doug Brown said, I'm thinking that a player who is suspended by the league for disciplinary reasons is still paid. From looking at the 2010 CBA I could see nothing that says a player does not get paid in that situation. If he didn't get paid then that would in effect make the fine more than the CBA allows. So no disrespect to posters here but given Doug Brown played and was a player rep for years, I think he knows this better than we do. -
I can't see them putting him on the 6 game IR if he isn't injured. With the rule changes that a player can't practice until 2 weeks before he comes off, it would be like giving a guy a 4 week paid vacation.

Bomber Game 2 vs Ottawa Now On Youtube
Jacquie replied to USABomberfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I have a friend whose husband is in the military and their family is stationed in Poland now. I sent her the links to the two games and she was really excited about being able to watch them for the same reason as praguebombers. Thank you so much for doing the videos. -
I'm very much agree with this. Regarding the protection for the QB, I suggest to add an additional Nat'l OL on the gameday lineup. That could probably gave us the proper contingency in case an OL goes down during the game instead of dressing Thomas as an extra OL. It will also enable us to utilise Knapp as TE in some snaps. we could take off one of the National 'MLB' as a trade off. Did Thomas change his jersey mid-game, like after the Greaves injury? If not, I wonder if something was up with Greaves heading into the game He changed it mid-game.

You're right that TSN's stats are incomplete but you might still be crazy. It seems like they are missing a few players - Allen and Thomas aren't listed in the rushing stats either.

Why would Calgary let him go? The Stamps would have to activate Peach on to the starting roster & take a starter off the active roster & put him on the PR. I really wish we'd pick the guy up. Seems like a no brainer to me. The player also has to agree to go to the new team as well.
